I really enjoyed working with Bruno. I’ve worked with him multiple times, which shows a lot. The work is quite fun and he is a pleasant guy to hang out with. The food which he provides and sometimes also cooks is probably the best I’ve had over 3 years of various Workaway placements. He takes me along to various DJ gigs which he does, and I’ve met nice people through those events. My room in his villa with a pool is also large and comfy with an en-suite bathroom and shower. It’s certainly a notch up from most other Workaway placements.

I had a very calm, enriching and truly enjoyable stay with Patricia and Javier. They are wonderful, thoughtful hosts who immediately made me feel at home. The atmosphere in their house is peaceful and welcoming, and we shared many interesting and often funny conversations about life, culture and personal growth. Their little dog is absolutely adorable and full of character, and it was a joy to have him around every day. Patricia and Javier also have many lovely friends in the village, which gave me the chance to meet kind and open-minded people and feel part of the local community. I can warmly recommend a Workaway experience with them – it’s a place where you can relax, learn, and enjoy meaningful connection. I’m already looking forward to visiting them again someday!

My experience was amazing. I learned a lot about Wakhi culture, visited many places, went hiking, and was able to do some outdoor work, which was really cool. Saira, her family and the entire resort staff are very nice and welcoming, always very concerned about the well-being of the volunteers. The work was always very easy and enjoyable, and the food was excellent. They show me arround and i visited one lake with her that was a incredible day. Thank you so much for accepting me and let me have this incredible experience; I will always remember my time in Pakistan. Good luck for everyone.

Roger es una excelente compañía, estuvo con nosotros por 3 semanas, nos ayudó en los cuidados de los animales, en la preparación de los alimentos para todos en la casa y muchas otras actividades, su presencia siempre fue muy agradable y respetuosa. Un persona muy recomendada y siempre dispuesto a ayudar!! Gracias por todo Roger!!

Joel and Mya here, we spent the month of October (the island's off-season) working here, and felt like a wonderful fit for the calm and beautiful environment this time of year. We had many opportunities to enjoy activities like suntanning and swimming in the Crystal-clear blue water, as well as Rock climbing with Dimitris who has an affinity for it and was a great teacher. Even in October the weather is still relatively fair, there were a few days of rain but otherwise the sun was shining and most days could be spent outside exploring. The town of Batsi/Mpatsi is pretty small but full of kind people and many great restaurants and little shops. Since it was the off-season there were very few people visiting the island and most businesses are closed this time of year, so if you plan to come any time other than winter be prepared for a relatively secluded and relaxing experience rather than what you could otherwise see during the popular tourism months. We felt that the work was manageable and enjoyable getting to interact with guests, and the management and scheduling was very flexible and created a great environment to work in. We would highly reccomend this experience for people who like supporting hospitality and being right beside the sea. Thank you to Dimitris and all the other people that made our time here amazing and helped us see the beautiful island of Andros.

Oto, our super strong Workawayer from Latvia: Thank you so very much for the incredible help you gave with the 3 container-loads of pallets meant for burning in our big stone heater/stove in winter. And also the 5 high piles of woodboards a neighbour had brought here after he had demolished a big shed. I had never even imagined the possibility of finishing that gigantic pile, but together we managed to ‘work’ it all ‘away’! It is really lovely to host someone who ‘sees’ the work to be done, and hardly needs any explanation. Apart from the work, everyone here, e.g. also my brother who was visiting from America, and Lara, who several times joined us for coffee or dinner, enjoyed talking with you, and you saw a lot of the neighbourhood – the villages and the woods - when you went running or cycling. Also we visited some interesting places, the last one being the Cacaofabriek, where we had lunch to celebrate our victory over that pile of wood. On your last night here you baked us some lovely potato-pancakes: a delicious conclusion of you stay here! My best wishes, Oto, for all your future plans!

The time that Veronica and Giada spent with me worked extremely well. They were always willing to help in any way possible, learn new skills and be flexible. They were great company and I always looked forward to after dinner conversations. Giada's pottery was of a high standard and Louise, who was a novice, also produced some lovely work. Ziggy and I miss them both.

I have nothing but positive things to say about my stay with Ilona. She welcomed me with open arms and heart, and I can honestly say that I’ve made a true friend from my experience. My duties mainly involved animal care (looking after horses, sheep ducks and chickens) as well as cooking meals, helping with the nature school, tidying the house and come basic gardening. My favourite jobs were collecting the snails to feed to the ducks and hugging the sheep. I enjoyed talking with her father and working on my Finnish. The local kids are also my new little besties and they have the most beautiful souls. There are beautiful lakes nearby, you can use the bikes to get around town. Foraging berries, and swimming in the lake were some of my favourite activities. How lucky I was to join them this summer and experience fairy-gnome life. ✨

My time with Alena and Falco was really wonderful! Falco is a very open-minded, cheerful, and interested boy. We laughed a lot, listened to music, and had fun outside with selfmade and electric cars. And I learned a lot (!) about Minecraft haha. Alena is a very attentive person who always makes sure you feel comfortable! I really enjoyed talking to her and hearing about her experiences. The work was absolutely fine, and I had more than enough time to explore the wonderful surroundings. I am very grateful to have met them both and to have spent such a wonderful time with them. I can highly recommend a workaway with them. Thanks for having me!

I spent just over a month with Nadine, Malcolm and the kids and it was SUCH a great time. I learned so much about South Africa and Ireland as well as history, maths and English rules and thermodynamics - all through song with their home education program. They took me to explore some of the local sights (stunning beaches!) and I loved to spend time just enjoying their beautiful home! Nadine cooks the most delicious meals (you will never be hungry), and she always made sure my dairy allergy was catered to (I literally had the princess treatment). Plus, they have a really fancy coffee machine. The kids are all super smart AND FUNNY! I’m sure I’ll be quoting our conversations and sayings for years to come. They also have two gorgeous cats who I've loved spending time with! My main duties included; cleaning and tidying the kitchen and living areas, laundry, basic gardening, painting the house and some childminding (which was playing hide and seek in the dark and painting with the kids). It was such a fun, varied role and I felt really integrated into their family and church in my time there. Thank you all for having me and can't wait to see you all again!

Alisée & Lucas are amazing volunteers super easy to host. They adapted smoothly into our community. They are eager to contribute, mature and disiplined, curious, very friendly and helpful. Their positive approach made a wonderful exchange on all levels, personal, cultural and professional. We are very happy and proud to have hosted Alisée and Lucas . Our best recommendations!

I spent a lovely 3 weeks with this family in October and it was a great way to dip into the Workaway lifestyle! Lucia has a lot of experience with hosting and did everything to make sure I felt comfortable. The work is as described and the children are generally easy to manage, the hardest thing was sitting them down for homework! We were lucky with the weather so I spent much of my free time exploring the region, it's very well connected and Agostino has many great tips on the best things to see. Overall, I'm very happy I took a chance on this family and I can't wait to go back to Italy! Grazie a tutti, mi mancate già!

Ken stayed with his wife Sissy with us for a couple of weeks - way toooo short! We met and it clicked! They both are one of the most lovely persons we met through workaway. On one hand: reliable, trustworthy, hard working! Dedicated to the task. Pro-actively looking for work, which needs to be done. They both were a really great help & support. On the other hand: very sociable, funny. We were singing 90ies songs by the fire in the courtyard or having fun at the local fair in way to small bumper cars :-) Just as we would know them for ages. They shared their impressive & lovely personal stories with us. Not to mention Ken taking part in our charity fashion show - the best male model we ever had. Both are always very welcome again at the castle just for holidays! We can highly recommend Sissy and Ken to any host!!

We miss Sissy a lot! Sissy and her husband Ken stayed with us for a couple of weeks - toooo short! We met and it clicked! They both are one of the most lovely persons we met through workaway. We are very grateful for this experience. We arrived very last-minute and in the beginning it was a bit chaotic and a little difficult to find a pace or rhythm, but everyone at the castle was very kind, accommodating and helpful. It is very impressive place and the area is beautiful and it was fun to explore the hallways, get lost for the umpteenth time and in the end become more and more familiar with the castle and all its nooks and crannies. The team is wonderful and Ruth especially, though non-stop busy and on her toes, always tries her best to cater to your requests and make sure you're comfortable and content, always with a smile on her face. We also had some fun evenings hanging out with other workmates and getting our ass kicked at table football. Thanks a lot to the whole team for taking us in so kindly!

Jens was one of the best workawayers we ever had. He is simply a dream of a workawayer! A nice man with a wonderful personality, very smart, calm and friendly, with a great and exciting life experience, it was a pleasure to talk to him and we had a lot of interesting conversations. He can do everything and was always curious and ready to learn new things, for example Ole taught him several things, including welding. He was so hardworking and helpful and definitely not afraid to do too much, We felt like we had made a good friend in him and were really sad when he left. Thank you Jens, remember you promised to come back after New Year!

It’s already been 4 years since I first stayed at Aslaug’s and Shaun’s place for at least half a year but I can just recommend it to everybody who loves being outdoor and is willing to work hard. I've did some construction work, some maintenance, helping around the animals, gardening and little tasks that just needed a helping hand. So don't mind getting your hands dirty. ◡̈ I’ve always felt seen and appreciated at their place and learned so much about myself. It’s important that you are open to any kind of help that is needed because that how life is on a farm and that you are willing to communicate your needs and generally be open. For me it’s been the perfect fit especially because of the nature, the animals and the kind and supportive environment on the farm🫶🏼

Dom was a very respectful guest and took his volunteer work here very seriously. He planned a Hong Kong multicultural night in our bar space, with milk stocking tea, French toast, and trivia to share his culture and traditions with us. He helped us complete and update photos on our website and was always willing to help and make event images and videos. We wish him a wonderful travel journey and good luck with his job search.

Passer du temps avec Danja et sa famille, c’est exactement le genre d’expérience que j’espérais en rejoignant Workaway. J’ai eu la chance d’être accueillie par Danja, Markus et leurs enfants, une famille suisse adorable. Dès le début, ils m’ont fait sentir comme un membre de la famille et ont tout fait pour que je me sente à l’aise. J’ai vraiment apprécié chaque moment passé avec eux. Les enfants sont sympathiques, toujours curieux et prêts à donner un coup de main. On s’est autant amusés les uns que les autres ! Nous avions un jour installé un immense circuit de train miniature à travers toute la maison, c'était tellement fun ! Danja et Markus sont des personnes très agréables et amicales. Ils m’ont fait découvrir la culture suisse à travers de nombreuses activités : cueillettes de champignons, repas de famille, visites des villes voisines et d'une fromagerie. Ils m'accueillaient toujours avec joie dans leurs activités, et j'ai pris beaucoup de plaisir à y participer. J’ai aussi appris quelques mots en suisse allemand, et toute la famille m’a encouragée à pratiquer ; c’était amusant et motivant. Le village où ils vivent est magnifique, avec des collines, des sentiers de randonnée, une nature splendide et bien sûr beaucoup de vaches ! Je suis extrêmement reconnaissante pour cette expérience, pour leur confiance, leur générosité et tous les beaux moments partagés. Merci vielmal Danja, Markus, Flavio, Julian, Mateo et Muetti/Vati !
