I wish all my best for him to carry on on travelling and validate the knowledge he deserves. Tiziana & Paddy

I stayed for 7 weeks at the ranch and had a really great time! Becky and Scott are really nice people and were happy to show me everything and learn me about the ranch working life. Becky even took me to the Black Hills. They trusted me to drive the tractor with big equipment to help with haying, which was really fun. I got to ride with the horses, which was amazing! The ranch is really beautiful and it’s great to ride through the sandhills. Working with the cattle and moving the cattle on horseback really gave me that cowboy feeling, and I learned so much about how and why they do things the way they do. I had a lot of free time but I could make myself busy. The bunkhouse living might not be for everyone, and I had to get used to it, but I liked having my own private place to stay. I wanted to experience the real ranch/ western life, and that definitely happened!

I was chez Agustín, Sylvie and Aymeric for three weeks and the experience couldn’t have been better. All of them have been very interesting lives: different countries, voyages, jobs, hobbies and expertise. Aymeric with cinema and manga. Agustín with electronics and plants, mainly maples. He loves them and to share his knowledge about them with people. He is proficient in many other subjects. With him and his friend Guillermo we went to a plant fair in the region. Sylvie is a very calm person, with a good sense of humor. She loves photography and tennis. With her we could enjoy a book fair, a photograph exhibition, a cinema session and many films in the telly. All of them speak a perfect English, French and Spanish. Matthew and I had very good conversations around the table, with a really delicious and healthy food. There are two main areas of work, the arboretum next to the house and the one that it is 20 minutes away from the house. The first has a great collection of trees, mainly maples from around the world. In the house there are three feeders and you can see a wide variety of birds taking their food and, if you are lucky, squirrels. We worked mainly in the second arboretum, a large piece of land with two greenhouses, a pond with fish and lotus that is in the process of development. We didn’t start early in the morning but we got to find a way of working and doing the right hours. Agustín provided us with all the clothes and tools we needed and he gave us clear instructions about how to do the job. We could learn new abilities, like plant and transplant trees in the proper way, create a rock garden with conifers and, the best to me, to use the tractor, to transport the maltch and to cut the grass. We really enjoyed our time working together in the open air, Pibrac is 25 minutes by train from Toulouse and this is a city worth knowing: beautiful, monumental, full of great bookstores and with a vibrant cultural life. Pibrac itself has a great forest next to it and a lot of trails to run or cycle that start at the back of the house. They can provide you with bicycles. Agustín, Sylvie and Aymeric, thank you for the great time a had with you and I hope to come back one day to say it in autumn, to enjoy the maples with their yellow and red leaves and to see how the trees we planted are developing. A la prochaine fois qu’on se verra.

Dominic was an incredibly funny and welcoming host who made our time with him always interesting and enjoyable. He spouted wisdom at lunch and therapy at dinner. A truly wonderous man. However, we found that Juno would love to steal the show, and we were all for it. The two of them are highlights of our time in Italy. We spent some time working on reorganizing the office and the storage room, some guitar lessons when time allowed, and a few odd jobs. But we still feel we owe him for his generosity, and hope to make it up to him one day. Maria and Massimo are absolutely some of the sweetest people we have encountered, and we have been craving Maria's cooking since the day we left. We leave with new recipes, but we fear they will never be able to truly replicate them. Anyone lucky enough to be welcomed onto the gorgeous property will find themselves living with good people, good food, and good times.

We had such a great first Workaway experience with Yvonne, Pesche and Juri! We were warmly welcomed into this little but cheerful family. Their beautiful old farmhouse is overlooking a valley and from all over the property you have amazing views (that is if there is no high fog;) ). We had our own spacious warm room (the room is on the first floor connected to the downstairs living area via outside stairs which we didn’t find any issue). We shared our meals together when we could (we had lunch by ourselves when Yvonne and Pesche were at work). There was always enough and very healthy food available! Favourite dish: polenta pizza! We will miss it! Outside, we helped with trimming trees, mowing grass, cutting plants, tidying up around the property, cobbling a stone path in their newly built garden (highlight!) and chopping a ton of wood (a cool machine helped us with that)! We worked independently when no one was home. The tasks were explained well, however if we had a question while they were at work we could contact Yvonne without a problem. In the evening we had great conversations and shared stories, played a board game, went on a very cool hike on Sunday (really stunning views just 15min drive from their house) and we were lucky to taste some typical Swiss food (yummyyy). Their swing is probably the coolest swing you ever tried! Juri will show you how it’s done:p. You will have lots to laugh with Juri, he is a little craftsman himself despite him being only four years old! It was a pleasure to stay and help but this Workaway experience was even more rewarding because we made new friends:) We only left because we were ready for some warmer outside temperatures :) Happy to come back to this wonderful family:)

Thank you Kaka, Captain, Chika and Jai for your hospitality, to invite us as volunteers into the Malay culture and let us experience life on a ricefarm. This was my second Workaway experience and it was wonderful! I stayed for 3 weeks at the farm in the months of March-April. At that time all the work on the ricefields was done, but we did plenty of other tasks like rice packaging, gardening (learning new plants and vegetables), bird scaring etc. During my stay it was Ramadan, we were introduced to family and friends and had the chance to celebrate Hari Raya when we could try lots of different delicious food! Every day was a new food adventure. This workaway was a real immersion in the local culture. The farm is surrounded by a beautiful jungle where you (if you are lucky) wake up with the sound of gibbons. I felt part of the family in this workaway, I'm very grateful for this experience!

I had such an amazing 5 weeks here! The work is very chilled out and straightforward, mostly checking guests in and out, booking tours and shuttles or helping them with any questions. I took Spanish classes with Gilma who comes directly to the hostel, HIGHLY recommend her to anyone wanting to study while here! Javier is so friendly and helpful and was happy to accommodate requests for specific days off so we could make the most of exploring day trips from Xela. The hostel itself is very cosy and properly felt like home for the time I was there, would 100% recommend to anyone looking for some peace and routine while travelling. Xela itself is a lovely city with loads to explore! Thanks Javier, Irma and Luz, miss you all already!

I stayed at Åsa's house from the 30th of September to the 21st of October during 2025. From the moment I arrived at her house, Åsa made a big effort to make me feel at ease and welcome. What I was unaware of upon arrival, was how much would happen during my time in Sweden. My assigned task was simply to get the garden into a better state, to improve it's accessibility, and to get some plants in the ground before the cold Swedish winter arrived. Åsa allowed me to work in a way that I could manage, and I believe that it is fair to say that we found a way of getting things done that was suitable for us both. Åsa was very kind to me, and encouraged me to have some time off to take part in some activities away from the house. The trip surpassed my expectations in a positive way. I expected that I was going to help out with some gardening at Åsa’s property, but I was unaware that I would see the northern lights on three different nights, bake cinnamon buns, have a guided museum tour, take part in a small ecological awareness event, and hear a traditional Swedish folk song duet. I think it is also important to note that Åsa was able to accommodate my Englishness with tea and milk supplies. She ensured those supplies were promptly replenished when I lived up to a national stereotype, and nearly emptied her reserves of both of those commodities. Thank you Åsa for inviting me into your home, and for taking care of me so well. I hope that the garden at your house can continue to develop in a way that you would like it to! Who knows, maybe there could even be someone reading this review who is ready to carry the baton and develop the garden to the next stage! Good luck to you in the future Åsa, I hope to, and intend to communicate with you in the future. Thank you for all of your efforts and work in ensuring my stay with you was so energising, comfortable, and educational.

Hervé's mood, his house and his land radiate tranquility. Although he is not a man of many words, he is very friendly and helpful. If we didn't understand something, he helped us; we just had to ask. It was our first Workaway experience and we loved it!

One of the most memorable months of my life, hands down. Immediately after arriving I was swept up in the joy and peace of the farmhouse and wonderful Matt and Natalie. We would go on adventures, and I became great friends with Natalie, my amazing coworkers, and my bestie Matt. The living situation was extremely good, as well as the work balance. I was very sad to go, but got to continue the adventures with Matt and Natalie after ;) Thank you both so much for showing me an unforgettable hospitality and acceptance into your home. I hope Matt when you come to the US you pullup!

I stayed for a months at Roswithas place. She is a nice and calm person and a very good cook! There is lot to do and she always had the patience to explain or teach something that I did not understand. Kiral the dog on the other hand is a energetic guy. Taking him for a walk is gun, but he will test your boundaries. Although he listened very well and was a good boy mostly. If you like a calm place, near a river and friendly people (the neighbors I met are also very nice) I bet you will love your stay.

Choosing Jaime as a member of our team this year was a real stroke of luck! From the very beginning, he fitted perfectly with the rest of the volunteers, the Italian staff and the atmosphere of our Borgo. He is intelligent, reliable, responsible and flexible. He really helped to create a pleasant and enjoyable working and living environment. He worked with us, keeping the gardens of our holiday homes tidy and preparing them for our guests. He quickly learned how the booking system worked and was always very organised and precise in his work. He also helped us a lot with dinners for our guests, both in the kitchen and with the service, and was generally always available to help when needed. We really appreciated him and he came back to work with us for another month. We all had a wonderful time together, enjoying interesting conversations about music, films, books, photography and much more. What's more, he is an excellent cook! He delighted us with some fantastic Spanish dishes! An all around good person and a great help! We couldn't recommend him more highly to others! It was a pleasure meeting you! We wish you all the best for your next adventure!

Hosting Chadash was an absolute pleasure. He is a highly intelligent, thoughtful, and respectful individual who approaches every task with enthusiasm and care. From the moment he arrived, it was clear that he genuinely wanted to contribute and make a positive impact. In addition, Chadash has a quiet and delightful sense of humor. Over time, as he became more comfortable with us, that humor brought us quite a few laughs. Chadash was eager to take on any task we asked of him—whether it was physical work, detailed projects, or learning something new—and he consistently gave his best effort. He was interested in learning how to operate the equipment we use to maintain our property, and before long he was using an electric chain saw, a table saw, a miter saw, a quad, and a log splitter among other things, all with the correct personal protective equipment. His strong work ethic and positive attitude made him a great addition to our team. He demonstrated respect not only for us but also for our house guidelines. There was never a time we had concerns about how our property was treated. He adapted wonderfully to our family dynamic and fit in as though he had been here much longer. Beyond our home, he integrated easily into the community as well—spending his free time helping neighbors, volunteering at the church Roast Beef Dinner, and even assisting with setting up lights around town for Halloween. Chadash communicates very well in English, and while he’s not a native speaker, he is attentive and quick to clarify when needed. Hosts should simply ensure expectations are clearly understood, and everything will go smoothly. We truly value Chadash’s personality, kindness, and many contributions, and we are hopeful that our paths will cross again—perhaps “same time next year.” Any host would be fortunate to welcome him into their home and community.

I stayed in Mirbat for almost three weeks. The team is really helpful with everything, and they give you so much diving and snorkeling possibilities you really can experience the underwater Oman properly :) it's important to know that Mirbat is quiet and small town, so except diving there's not so much to do there - but hey, if you came there for the ocean, you have abundance of that :) The work itself is easy and really not very much of it - mostly reception, chatting with the customers, and taking care of the equipment which also teaches you quite a lot about the "backstage" of diving trips. Thank you to all the team for really nice and generous experience and hope to see you again on some point :)

Mark was a joy to host, and we are hoping he will return! Honestly, he felt like family. He is so respectable and hardworking. He did whatever he could to help with no drama and a great sense of humor. We thoroughly enjoyed him and highly recommend him. You would be lucky to host him!

My stay in Metato was great! Since the very first days I already felt as if I had been there for a longer time, totally integrated into the rhythm of things, the people was very welcoming and the beauty of the place had already won me over. Letizia the host was always very helpful and attentive with everything. The work itself was fine and fair, I was working in the gardens, keeping them in good shape and looking good, I could enjoy the privilege of having some fruits and nuts out of the trees they have there, and also helping out during the dinners offered for guests either as a waiter or hand in the kitchen. The dinners are great because you get to eat traditional Tuscan meals cooked by Claudia who will also teach you the dialect from the region. Together with the other workawayers we shared very good meals and did some international cooking exchange. The place is very peaceful and beautiful, with options for hikes and rivers to swim. We also went to the beach sometimes and had some nights out all together. Also, in your days off, being in Tuscany you can do some short trip to visit the surroundings and of course I had a good chance to improve my little Italian. All in all, top experience and the people really made the difference, I even came back a couple of months later.

I stayed with Dan for two weeks. His wife and children were away at the time, but Dan was very welcoming and hospitable. We shared meals (his cooking was definitely better than mine!) and experiences. We organized the daily work together, always trying to focus on tasks I felt comfortable with. He was always kind and helpful — he even helped me find a job, even though it meant I had to leave his place before the arrival of other volunteers. He wasn’t just my host, he became a friend. Absolutely recommended!

I had the most amazing time at Katrina's and Kristos's place. The experience was way more enlightening and learning for than expected. They're amazing people with the cutest toddler. Katrina's other son is a sweetheart and brings more life and energy with him into the house. They were very accommodating and cooperative and always enthusiastic to share their knowledge. I have learnt so many off grid living skills. Kristos is a gardening genius and Katrina can teach you literally anything about food and dance. I can't wait to come back 😁 The place is pretty remote and doesn't have the 'modern amenities' like municipal electricity and water supply or automatic heating/cooling system, flush toilet or paved roads etcetera, which I loved by the way. But if you have never experienced the off grid life and you're not an enthusiast to learn about it, this place not be a right fit for you.

Massi was a great host! he was kind enough to show me around the area, cook some great meals, and teach me about the process of harvesting olives. Thank you, Massi!
