We spent two and a half weeks in June with Nicki and Richard, and this time will never be forgotten. The experience we gained during this time is difficult to describe. Nicki and Richard live in the beautiful Blythe Valley, close to the beach, forest and meadows. They have a 113-hectare farm there where sheep graze. On their land, they have set themselves the goal of restoring native biodiversity and giving rare native animal and plant species a chance to thrive. The dedication with which they pursue this task is more than remarkable. We supported them in their wonderful project with activities such as weeding and native tree planting. These physical tasks are enjoyable, as they are mostly carried out in the fresh air and create a great working atmosphere. The importance of this contribution to nature conservation is particularly motivating. As well as supporting their efforts to increase biodiversity, we also helped with self-sufficiency and household tasks. We tidied up the shed, helped here and there with the colourful vegetable garden, processed the ducks (since we had expressed a particular interest in this) and chopped wood. We helped out a lot and were involved in everything, and above all, everyone was able to help with the tasks they were particularly good at. Our individual interests were also taken into account in a particularly touching way, and while we tried to help as much as possible, Nicki and Richard also made sure that we had a good time and pursued our interests. We were also asked what we would like to do, had days off and were provided with excursion destinations and ideas. We also went on a few small excursions with Nicki and Richard, which we remember particularly nicely. Our help was always appreciated and we felt like family. Nicki and Richard taught us a lot about things that interested us, such as hunting and baking sourdough bread and other delicacies. We had such a wonderful time, listening to stories over excellent food at the dinner table and laughing a lot. The work was demanding, but enjoyable. The community spirit is also remarkable; we got to know many of Nicki and Richard's friends and had great exchanges with them. This experience is for anyone who is willing to learn new things, get physically involved and spend a lot of time in the fresh air. The way of life at Nicki and Richard's is incomparable and has left a lasting impression. We would come back anytime. This Workaway is truly a very special opportunity. Dear Nicki, dear Richard, we think of you often and thank you from the bottom of our hearts for this unique time.

Hi there! I stayed here with my partner for 7 months, and from the very beginning, Michael and Alexandra were amazing with us. Whenever we had any needs, they went out of their way to help. We didn’t speak German, but whenever a friend came over, Alexandra always made sure we understood what was being said and translated it for us on the spot—it made us feel really included. And Michael… he always took the time to share fascinating details about Germany, which was super interesting. The place itself is incredibly peaceful, and the guests are generally very polite and friendly. Our tasks included cleaning and maintenance (painting, gardening, etc.), I cooked for Michael, Alexandra, and the other Workawayers, and I also did the shopping. They were really flexible with us—we had a timeframe to get things done, but we could choose when to work. The surroundings are beautiful: the sound of birds, starry nights, the beach nearby, the wind rustling through the trees, fruits, mushrooms, and all the forest wildlife—it was magical. I even managed to finish my first album while I was there, working on it alongside my tasks. I would love to go back next year and really hope I get the chance because it felt truly idyllic. My stay with Sophia and her family was a truly wonderful time - I miss you guys !! It was my first time doing workaway and it probably increased my standards by a lot. From the second I arrived I felt welcomed and comfortable. I honestly had some tears in my eyes when I was on the bus to my next destination. The farm felt like a home to me and I got along with everyone. Sophia is so kind and thoughtful, whiles her dad entertains with his stories and his jokes! Mima (aka Sophia’s grandma) is a sweet and sassy moroccan woman and I wish I would’ve been (due to my lack of french or darija) able to talk to her more. The tasks are absolutely doable and we only had to worked 3-4 hours a day. I was free to choose my tasks and input on the farm was welcomed. On the weekend I got to choose my free time however I wanted but honestly enjoyed just staying at the farm or to spend time with the family. The (almost) two weeks felt long and short at the same time. I honestly would've stayed longer. I got to learn about Moroccan and Dutch culture, had interesting conversations, ate delicious food, learned a little bit about farming and it felt like being part of a wholesome family! We got to see the beach, Rabat and Casablanca and did some other sidequest ;) I'm truly grateful for the time at the farm!! Shookran !!

Charlotte and I absolutely loved our stay with Lozz ! 😊 She was incredibly open-minded, patient with our English level, and always super friendly. Lozz helped us so much — from finding a job to getting a car — and was always there to listen and support us. We also had the pleasure of meeting her lovely family, as well as Max the cat and Indie the dog — all so kind and welcoming ! 🐾 The amount of work required was totally fair and reasonable. We 100% recommend this experience — thank you so much for everything, Lozz! 🙏✨

Miranda was a joy to have. She has a bubbly personality, is a hard worker and brought a cheerful attitude into all that she did. She got on very well with our children and crept deep into our hearts during the month she was with us. She took initiative daily and we couldn’t have been happier with the experience of her being part of our family.

Laura y Aleix. Son una pareja extraordinaria, con una actitud positiva y amistosa. Los dos se adaptaron bien tanto a las tareas asignadas como a mi círculo de amistades. Participaron junto conmigo remando en la canoa maya, lo cual fue muy gratificante experimentar su adaptación a una nueva actividad deportiva, la cual requiere del esfuerzo físico y de la participación de todos los miembros en su conjunto. También participaron en actividades de mantenimiento pintando, en adición a las actividades de jardinería, deshierbando y limpiando caminos. Todas las actividades las ejecutaron de buena manera y muy profesionalmente. Fue muy gratificante el haber trabajado con ellos. Yo no tengo duda en recomendarlos ampliamente y los recibiría una vez más si así lo decían. ¡Yo los voy a echar de menos y les deseo muchísimas más experiencias!

We very much enjoyed our experience with Josa. She takes her time to warm up to people and new situations but once she trusts she is like a flower that blooms. She seemed to fall in love with the garden and with the furry people and certainly seemed to like our cooking. She was an enthusiastic learner that really stepped out of her box to embrace new ideas and techniques and even to experiment, especially after starting out more task-oriented, she began, quite quickly, to show all the traits of a guardian (and even writes us now to find out how the plants are doing). She showed appreciation for moments of care, of listening, of awareness and of kindness and disdain for moments that lacked these qualities which is something we greatly respected in her: her authenticity. She mentioned perhaps coming back and we would love to welcome her again.

I spent two wonderful weeks at the farm of Sibillja and Merlin. I am happy that I got a chance to meet their family and help them. They maintain such warm and balanced home environment that encouraged me to feel myself like part of their family and motivated me to do my best in working. I am glad that I contributed to their house and farm activities with cleaning, tidying up, cooking, splitting firewood, care of goats, chickens, ducks and geese... I was able to see how animals live on the farm. I like that Sibillja and Merlin mostly expected me to choose my work independently, in the areas where I was most interested and can make the biggest impact. And I very appreciate that they actively communicated with me in German during my stay that really improved my German language skills. I was also inspired by the nature of the farm area — it is a very quiet place surrounded by beautiful forested hills, which were especially magical in autumn.

Poppy and Liam are a truly lovely couple: positive, proactive, and an absolute pleasure to have around. They’re always eager to help wherever needed, bringing both great energy and creativity to everything they do. Easygoing and social, they blended seamlessly with the rest of the team and our guests. Their artistic eye is remarkable: their photos and videos beautifully captured the atmosphere of the lodge and the surrounding jungle, with a real sense of story and emotion. Beyond their skills, they’re respectful, reliable, and bring a calm yet enthusiastic energy that makes working and living together effortless. We’d wholeheartedly recommend them to any host, and they’ll always be welcome back here anytime. Finally, they arrived as volunteers and left as friends. We’re genuinely grateful our paths crossed!

Anna is a very sweet lady with a big heart and Alvaro is helpful and very playful with our dogs so our pups enjoy a lot! We found a great support on them as they gained confidence performing the duties in shelter, they also help us training new commers, giving shower to dogs and even take them to vet visits. We said bye to them after couple of weeks but after some days we were happy to welcome them back for some more time of volunteering :D Thank for sharing your experience, enjoy the life!

Dear John, we would l like to thank you for these three weeks that you spent helping us. Nothing was to difficult or hard for you. You are very hardworking, sees the work that needs to be done, organized and tidy. Felling trees, pruning and preparing fire wood. Innumerable trips with the wheel barrow. Cleaning of various roofs of arabic terracota tiles. It is amazing to observe a man with so much energy and still so respectful and discreet. We couldn’t have asked for a better place for our very first Workaway experience! From the very first moment, Nina and Sebastian made us feel comfortable and at home, always ready to help with a smile. Even though we stayed in two separate houses, we quickly built a beautiful bond with them and their lovely daughter, Mara. We really miss her sweet energy and the time we spent together. We loved having the opportunity to ride horses through the forest. It was such a beautiful experience. Both Nina and Sebastian were super flexible with daily tasks and always willing to lend a hand, whether it was with work or rides to the station. We learned so much from them about their culture, their way of life, and the joy of sharing simple, genuine moments. This experience was truly special for us, and we’ll always keep it in our hearts. We really hope to come back one day!

I spent two wonderful weeks with Ross & Judy. During my stay, I learned several new things, like chopping wood and helping with different outdoor tasks. I really appreciated how patient and supportive Ross and Judy were, always taking time to explain things. One of the things I enjoyed the most were our conversations! We talked about history, politics, and many interesting topics. Those thoughtful, open conversations were truly one of the highlights of my stay and made the experience feel very special to me. Overall, it was a great and enriching time. I learned new skills, felt welcomed and respected, and enjoyed being part of their place. I can really recommend staying with them. Also Cumberland is such a lovely little town, surrounded by nature, with a peaceful atmosphere and a lot of charm. Thank you so much for everything, Lea

Yongpeng a fait un excellent séjour à la maison. Très sérieux au travail, un peu timide au début mais il a su prendre sa place parmi les autres volontaires. Très respectueux des lieux et des personnes, il savait être discret et efficace. J'ai apprécié nos discussions et son humour. Je recommande Yonpeng sans hésitation.

Thank you Pure for the warm welcome and an unforgettable first Workaway experience! It was the best thing I could do at the start of my trip in Thailand in January-February 2025. A unique experience to get to know the amazing Thai culture. As a vegetarian, it was a dream to eat healthy vegan food every day, a mix of local produce and food from the farm. Each new day meant also learning new things, like building a wall from mud, planting vegetables and herbs, harvesting, watering, helping with cooking, getting to know new fruits, recognizing herbs and learning about their medicinal powers and so on. We worked in the mornings and had free time after, sometimes we went out to explore the area. I also have met wonderful people. I would recommend this farm to get inspired and have an amazing time!

The time of Marta and Simone here was special. Both are honest, hardworking and kind people. They were very caring and nice to our dogs keeping their spaces safe and clean and also giving love. Somedays they also cook for all the team and make a delicious pizza night for everybody. Our Little dog Sammy caught their heart and we are very greatful to them to give the best time to him during his short time in this world. Whish them the bests!

Très mauvaise expérience workaway avec Jacob. En 8 ans, j'ai reçu plus de 150 volontaires et je n'ai jamais eu de problèmes de la sorte. Dès le début, j'ai vu que ça n'allait pas aller avec Jacob. Il n'avait jamais touché un outil de sa vie (normal quand on habite un appartement à New York et qu'on est étudiant dans une école de théâtre), alors pourquoi répondre à mon annonce où j'expliquais clairement que je recherchais une personne pour faire du bricolage et des travaux en extérieur !?!? Dès le premier jour et deuxième heure de travail, Jacob m'expliquait qu'il était déjà fatigué, #redacted# Il quittait aussi régulièrement la zone de travail pour se mettre sur son téléphone ou écouter de la musique à fond sur son téléphone, il était capable de mettre 20 minutes pour aller chercher une brouette de béton. Bref j'étais dans mon jardin mais je me croyais dans la cour d'une école primaire. Au bout du troisième jour j'ai failli lui demander de partir mais par respect je l'ai gardé malgré son comportement et son incompétence. Son attitude à la maison était également irrespectueuse, il mangeait avant nous le diner car il avait faim et ne pouvait pas attendre, ensuite il mangeait avec nous, et ensuite il se servait à nouveau vers 23h00 directement du frigo... 3 dîners à la suite presque tous les soirs!!! #redacted#. Une fois de plus par respect je n'ai pas voulu laisser à Jacob de feedback, mais vu qu'il m'en a laissé un, je lui répond. Son feedback ne va rien changé à ma réputation sur workaway, j'ai depuis accueilli déjà plusieurs volontaires, tous m'ont laissé un avis excellent comme tous les autres avant. #redacted# C'est bien dommage mais c'est peut être mieux pour tout le monde que Jacob voyage sans Workaway.

A beautiful place full of good vibes and lovely people! Although I only stayed with Juliette and Lars for 2 weeks, I've grown very fond of them and have absolutely loved my stay. From the warm welcome, the relaxed atmosphere and the continuous coming and going of people from all walks of life, to the amazing and seemingly endless openness of these superkind hosts towards their 'extended family'... It's been an experience that I wouldn't have wanted to miss out on. Thanks a lot, you guys! Wishing you all the best. Till we meet again!

J'ai passé un excellent séjour avec Greg. Poli, contact très agréable, travailleur méticuleux et consciencieux, respectueux, indépendant , il suffit de lui dire ce que vous souhaitez et il se débrouille, n'hésite pas à vous demander si besoin est. Le travail est très bien fait et vous n'avez nul besoin de passer derrière car tout est propre et rangé. Indépendant, il allait faire du sport tous les jours et le weekend il est parti faire de la randonnée. J'ai vraiment passé de très agréables moments chaleureux, je le recommande vivement. n'hésitez pas un instant . Bonne continuation Greg dans tous tes projets. N’hésite pas si tu repasse par là, tu es le bienvenu.
