Doing this volunteer work was definitely one of the highlights of my travels so far. I got the opportunity to stay at Ria's house with her wonderful family, and I truly had an amazing time. Ria and her family are very warm, welcoming and inspiring people and I immediately felt at home. Together with the other volunteers we also did soo many cool things: we went to the colourful village, got ourselves a treatment at the spa, had drinks at some nice bars & I even got the chance to participate in a soccer match!!! The volunteer work itself was also very interesting and such a fun and educational experience. I would really recommend volunteering with Ria to everyone and the only reget I have is that I couldn't stay longer. Thankyou Ria for this amazing opportunity. This is definitely not 'goodbye' but a 'see you later.' :))

I had such a wonderful time at Damons charming riverside property. I spent 11 days working in Damons beautiful garden, looking after sweet Pip and taking her for walks - it was nothing short of a magical and healing experience! Damon is such a lovely guy and so easy going and funny, he makes you feel at home instantly, I was taken aback by his kindness and generosity. He has so much knowledge of Māori culture, permaculture and philosophy to share and I wish I could have stayed longer to learn more! I had a comfortable stay in my own retro caravan. On his days off Damon took myself and Eric, who was also staying, to beautiful beaches, sacred trees and some stunning mountain drives. Damon prepared the best feel good food and showed us some of his top movies on our movie nights. Thanks Damon & Pip - catch you next time! ________________________ Eric is not a member of Workaway but asked me to include his 5 star review here: Hi, I’m Eric and came to Damon’s by recommendation of a friend of mine… I had an incredible time at this hidden gem and here is my feedback for him: 🌿 These two weeks in New Zealand were truly transformative – I learned a lot about life, nature, and myself. You’re incredibly inspiring in so many ways: philosophy, spirituality, permaculture, mechanics, cooking, and just your humor. Thanks for the amazing food (Paleo 6.2 included!) and for giving us the freedom to explore. I’ll always remember the walks with Pip, gardening, nights in the “Princess Tower,” the animals, and all the little moments in nature. I really hope our paths cross again – or maybe one day my kids will get the chance to learn from you too. Thanks for everything mate 🤝🏼

Thomas and Yaël were super guests! thoughtful, energetic, loads of common sense and initiative... they tackled a yard cleanup with enthusiasm plus we were able to take a small load of rubbish to the landfill. And they majorly reorganised the chaotic contents of my motorhome as well. 100% unreservedly recommended!

What a pleasant surprise was to have Tess with us for few weeks. Not all people adjust so quickly and thrive in the monastic environment like she did. All tasks that was given to Tess was completed even better then expected with great sense of detail and love for work. We would highly recommend her for anyone needing help in garden, cooking or probably anything you’d need to do around the house.

I had a memorable, delightful stay with Sandra and DB. These two amazing people are happy to share their lives and be in service to others. I was eager to help them as I could which included completing various gardening tasks, installing a window, and teaching computer skills. I was introduced to many friends and members of the local church who were very welcoming. Sandra and DB are musically gifted people and it was such a pleasure to be invited to perform with them. Sandra is a nature lover and she certainly broadened my gardening horizons. She also is a remarkable chef and baker and I simply could not get enough of her home cooked meals. I thank her as well for taking me contra dancing as it was something I always wanted to try. DB is a natural teacher and story teller with a big heart. We shared great conversations about music, introducing me to artists who had an influence on him. I can truly say Sandra and DB had positive impact on my life. I highly recommend any Workawayer take the opportunity to volunteer in Piney Flats.

Accept them, open your doors and keep this lovely couple as long as you can.... What a wonderful experience to meet these crazy cookies. Great fun, humerus, extremely hard workers, fast learners (Karl got my 30 second digger driving tutorial) and extremely helpful, a breath of fresh air to have around. Safe travels both and enjoy the journey xx

My Workaway with Emi-San and Mitake-San was truely special! I really recommend spending time at their house. The chores you have to do are really easy and clear. You always know what to expect, what I liked. It's mistly cleaning (dishes, vacuuming, bathrooms) and from time to time garden work. I always worked from 8-12 am and again one hour in the evening. I would recommend spending some time in Tokyo before or after your stay with them. In the afternoon you can absolutely still go in the city but for me it felt a little too inefficient because it still takes 1.5 hours one way. So 3 hours just for the way and because I know it takes some time too to get around in the city it was too much driving for me. I soend my time mostly around the area. I went hiking and to smaller cities around their place. For me it was an absolutely relaxing and recharging time during my travels. I only stayed 2,5 weeks tho. I think if I would've stayed one or two months I would have get a little bored. On the other hand you are able to take off days. I took three in a row and did a trip to Osaka and Kyoto. It was really nice that this was possible! I loved most about my stay that you learn about japanese life. Talking with Emi-San and Mitake-San taught me more than any tourist guide. About culture, lufe in general and traditions. I really loved that. Also Emi-San took me once to a stained glass workshop which I really liked because it felt like she is showing me a part of her life. In general I would say Mitake-San is a little more present in the house so I enjoyed talking a little mire to her too when it was just the two of us :) Mitake-San is also really great don't get me wrong!! All in all i enjoyed my experience and I would describe it as a calming place with easy housework and clear rules! The perfect stay for what I needed. Thank you again for you hospitality and your openness <3

Morgan stayed with us for 12 days. While he seemed to have a good skillset, he did not seem to understand the workings of a work exchange. The first week went well enough and Morgan helped me to set up a website which I am quite happy with. In the second week, he was difficult to pin down. To be fair there was some weather delays (too windy for flying a drone) and Morgan didn't seem interested in filling in the time with alternative tasks. When we had the weather window, he went out on an excursion without communicating his intent beforehand leading to the inconveniences for other people involved. Morgan did take some beautiful drone footage, and when I asked him for them. he replied that he normally gets paid a lot of money for his skills. I reminded him that by then, he had stayed with us for 12 days and there was an exchange agreement for the accommodation. and only then ,did I receive part of the footage and we agreed to cut his stay short by 2 days as things had become tense.[redacted]. We are strictly non-smoking. This was my first not so good experience with a workaway and I am taking it on board to to ensure that any further workawayers read and re-read our listing so there is clarity on the exchange, especially first timers.

This was a beautiful, beautiful experience. I stayed for a week but plan to return to Cuernavaca to spend more time with the family. I really enjoyed my time with Martha and her children, Sheila, Diana, David and Daniel. They are a very warm and close-knit family. I never felt unwelcome or awkward - the hospitality was stunning. I got to explore Cuernavaca as well as the charming little town of Atlatlahucan, where the extended family live. I will miss Martha's cooking, the sobremesas with members of the family, and learning about Mexican culture through my participation in their household. This Workaway also represents a brilliant opportunity to practice your Spanish, while also speaking English to Martha's children to help them advance. Could not recommend more highly.

Mark & Chloe were excellent work aways. We had a few days together before we went on holiday and they went solo. We enjoyed talking about different global perspectives and cultural norms. They diligently looked after our chickens and even made coop improvements for Big Red and Marmalade. Some tough gardening jobs were tackled , they battled the war on weeds , preciously sowed some seeds and shared some great cooking tips and meals. I would highly rate them as a very capable team around the house and animals. Most importantly they have a great outlook to see the positive in situations, to learn something and are empathic .

Anna was so helpful always willing to offer a hand to help. We chased water problems around the farm, fixed fences, sprayed gorse, cleared paddocks of rocks, cut up and bagged firewood. We also discovered Anna as well as being good at dishes is an excellent chef and very talented musician. Anna would be excellent to any workaway position you may have.

We had such a wonderful time with wolf. He parked his camper at the edge of our forest and made himself quite comfortable there. He brings a lot of life experience, skills, interests, honesty, calmity and is really keen to help out. Besides all the project work he really contributed to the group feeling with his community spirit and pleasant nature. Thank you so much for these weeks and please stop by in the future, for a coffe or another 3 weeks of workawaying ;)

I spent a wonderful (little) week with Yvonne and Craig, and from the very first day, I felt completely at home. They're so kind and make you feel part of something genuine: simple, caring, and full of good humour 💛. Their generosity and warmth really touched me, and I quickly felt like part of their world. I mainly helped create a new paved pathway to replace an old wooden one 🧱. Even though we didn’t have the chance to finish before I left, I truly enjoyed being part of the project. The work was physical but never too much. They’re very attentive and make sure we don't work under the harshest heat ☀️. Their place is beautiful and peaceful, surrounded by lakes, forests 🌿, and singing birds 🐦. It's a perfect immersion in real Australian nature and daily life. Everyone has their space and privacy, which makes it easy to feel comfortable and relaxed. Yvonne cooks delicious, healthy and varied meals👩‍🍳, and every dish feels made with love ✨ (and it's generous at the table!). I only cooked once, but they were such lovely and appreciative guests that I wished I could’ve done more ☺️. Craig truly has my admiration for his energy and that little spark of craziness he’s managed to keep alive, it’s inspiring! Both of them are genuinely passionate about their surroundings 🌳, and you can feel how much they love their land and home. Beyond the work itself, what made this stay so special was the human connection 🤍. They invited me to join them everywhere they went, included me in their activities, and truly made me feel like part of their family. I got genuinely attached to them and to all the lovely souls I met, humans and animals. They’re caring, curious, open-minded, and deeply warm-hearted people who deserve to be surrounded by others as warm and generous as they are 💚. They’re both so easy to love. A few lines here could never fully express how grateful I am for this wonderful week together: for their kindness, their trust, and this little slice of life that felt like family 🥰. I’ll always treasure this chapter of my journey, and if I ever pass through the area again, I’ll definitely come back! ✨❤️

Julie! Thank you so much for hosting me in your warm home. I instantly felt comfortable when I met you which lead to a very pleasant stay. The tasks involved house cleaning and gardening/weeding. Julie's profile is an accurate depiction of what to expect. It is a nice safe area with close access to shops and transport to CBD. If I had time I would have happily continued my stay with Julie to get to know her on a deeper level as I enjoyed our chats and the way she talked to her sweet cats Basil and Myrtle warmed my heart. Thank you Julie for being a wonderful host <3

My three weeks at this Farm were truly magical. The place has such beautiful energy, and everyone there was so kind and welcoming. Big thanks to Krysta for being such an amazing coordinator, she made everything flow so smoothly. I made great friendships with other workawayers, residents, and felt so at home from day one. I’d love to come back one day! 🌿✨

Nico, Lisa & their daughter Freedy stay with us more than 2 weeks. its a good to have kids around the campsite which makes the campsite cheerful and their daughter is behave nicely. Nico's family also mingles with the guest greatly as some of the guest asking to take pictures with them as well and also some of the kids playing in the river with Freedy. Also, they mingles with the villagers as well when they are walking around the village. They are good helper which you can rely to help around the campsite. Nico also help me building the bamboo hut which still work under progress but will finish either this month or early of next month. Overall, its good to have them at the campsite and i can recommend to other host.

Helen was a great guest. She took on a challenging task in the library and did a fantastic effort and some. Fitted in well with our house and home routines and helped out at mealtimes. Kids enjoyed having her here, all this in the hottest time of year. Thanks heaps Helen and hope to see you again. Liam and Anna (Malachy and Phoenix)
