Both Henrik and Johanna were a great help on the projects and tasks we gave them. They were very respectful and pleasant to have in our home. Henrik helped to build two retaining walks and fencing installed while Johanna maintained the gardens and weeded . Totally transformed our home and gardens. Would highly recommend having them stay and welcome them back to visit any time. Thanks so much for your help. Dana and Ken

What can I say...Danjela and Pavel are both beautiful humans who are welcome back anytime. In the 3wks they were here they did so so much, and I loved their humour and our chats about anything in the evening. Since they left the cats have both taking to going outside in protest. Or maybe Danjela managed to pack Patches in her bag?! The garden looks AMAZING and so much better than when they arrived - they didn't just tackle one area of the garden - they took on 4...putting in a fence, fixing another fence, recreating the vege garden space, moved quite literally tonnes of dirt, brought up 2m3 of base course, created tyre steps, collected and mulched branches, moved stuff including a pile of tiles, cleared weeds, laid carpet, organised the old chicken area, moved trees and raspberry plants to new spots (am sure I am missing lots of things from the list!) ...and outside of the garden they put in ground vapour barrier into 2 parts of the underhouse, cooked beautiful meals (mackerel pie is my new craving!) and even managed a 3 night hike in crazy Wellington weather. Your positive outlook on life and adventure is inspiring. The only "downside" is Pavel never caught a fish (but he did spot the orcas) and I now have a new game to help me procrastinate ;) I had to go away for a couple of nights and they took care of the house and cats too. Guys - THANKYOU...please stay in touch! Anyone is very lucky to host you both.

Zach was a good helper! He is good at cooking, smart and is efficient to work in a busy environment and good to help for any chores. He also shoot wonderful photos and videos and kindly edited the videos in a professional quality to give it to guests and us. Even though it was a short period for him to be here, I appreciate his contribution. Thank you and wish you well, Zach!

Hi all, I've enjoyed my Workaway to a certain extent. :) the area and land is really beautiful and I enjoyed exploring it. I have to say one can feel a stress level in the house being high, that reflected on communication style towards me at some times. The description of tasks was accurate, great food was provided. I practiced my french. They took me to several villages during my stay for sightseeing, which I appreciated. Thanks for having me! If you want more information don't hesitate to text me.

------ I had an amazing time with Cyril and the kids. I was pretty nervous before going, but he made me feel at home straight away. He’s so nice and had lots of great recommendations for what to do around Quebec. He was very accomodating of me being vegetarian, and the food was SO good. The house is lovely and in a good location near some bus stops. There are two super cute golden retrievers and two cats that you might see occasionally. Sometimes the kids can be a bit challenging(like all kids tbh), but most of the time they’re both the biggest sweethearts. I had so much fun with them, they’re awesome and I love them to bits. Fingers crossed I can go back one day!

Can't be enough grateful for the treatment I got from Helle and Jonas. I just want to say thank you first of all. I really this to everyone who is seeking out for an opportunity like this. I have spent there almost 2 weeks and I enjoyed the time as much as I could. Actually I can't wait to see how the project is gonna look when it's finished:). The one thing I appreciate the most about Helle is how she tries to gather her closest friends and family together and make space for everyone who will have a way to the Møn. That is really something what I am gonna try to interpret in my personal life. Thank you. Hope it wasn't last time visiting you

Chase is a relaxed and positive guy - empathetic, respectful and someone you enjoy having around. The work discipline, on the other hand, really didn't impress. I'm hoping that your stay with me sparked a bit of self-reflection in that regard and a desire for improvement. All the best, kid.

Seraina and Jeroen are incredibly sweet hosts, and in my time with them I really felt the attention and care they extended to me. I got to meet members of the boatyard family, and was introduced to their friends and taken dancing and treated to pizza which is like my favorite combination of events. The work on the boat was rewarding, and although sometimes the work can be hard, progress is getting made every day which is really cool to see. when i was there it was a lot of chipping paint, cooking, and some bike repair. Overall im just incredibly impressed with the project that seraina and jeroen are undertaking, and was excited to be a part of it. getting a boat ready to sail around the world is hard, and they go about it with deep generosity and grace.

I originally planned to stay for two weeks, but my car ended up having some issues and I stayed for almost four—and I’m really glad I did. Mark and Diane’s family were incredibly kind and helpful, especially with everything that came up. The farm is a great place for anyone who loves the outdoors and working. It’s also a perfect spot for dog lovers—my pup had a great time playing and exploring while getting along well with their friendly dog. I learned a lot, shared some great meals and stories, and felt more confident about my travel. Huge thanks again for all the help and hospitality. I’d love to come back in the future!

From the moment I arrived here, I felt at HOME. Greeted with kombucha and Yogi's love! Surrounded by such a beautiful natural environment, there was a real sense of serenity. The strong feeling of community and togetherness had a profound impact on me... breakfast and lunch was a chance to slow down and truly appreciate those moments of gratitude we shared together. (Food was delicious and nutritious) The tasks were varied and I loved supporting the land. We were generously provided with an abundance of fresh fruit, and there was a wonderful ethos of sharing. I learned the traditional skill of using the palm leaf to weave and help construct roofing, which was both creative and almost meditative. One of my favourite days was when children from a local school were invited to the forest. We organised activities and workshops themed around 'Forest Guardians'. It was an absolute joy to connect with them in the natural world and help them understand the importance of respecting and caring for nature. We created a fun treasure hunt and shared a clay hand-building workshop. That day left my heart full of love and gratitude! I felt truly blessed to have the opportunity to bond with the local children. During my time off, I enjoyed exploring the rivers, forest walks, using the yoga deck, cooling off in the fresh water pool, unwinding in the hammocks, and visiting the nearby town of Tena. After two weeks, it was difficult to leave; I could easily have stayed longer. The tribe felt like family. On my final weekend, we joined a yoga retreat that included sound healing and my first-ever temazcal (sweat lodge) ceremony, led by Bhaga. It was a powerful and transformative experience... intense towards the end, yet deeply healing and connecting. I felt so blessed to be surrounded by such an incredible group of souls. What a perfect way to conclude my volunteering experience here. I am forever grateful and truly hope to return one day - Namaste

Viktoria is a polite and friendly person. It seemed that staying at my place didn't quite meet her standards. There wasn't much engagement or initiative with the tasks, and what I do in my project was something completely new to her and took her far out of her comfort zone. Still, with a fair bit of encouragement from my side, she gave it her best shot. We ended the experience a little earlier than planned, having both reached our limits. But overall, she's a good soul and, I'm sure, with tasks better suited to her skills she can be an enjoyable guest.

Harry is a great person; it was a pleasure spending time with him. He's always willing to help with anything we needed. He has a kind, generous, friendly and curious heart, making it easy to collaborate with him. He truly is an interesting traveler who seeks purpose in everything he does. All the conversations we had were interesting, and it was a great opportunity for us to practice our English. Furthermore, his Spanish is good and is progressing quite quickly, so we were able to have extensive conversations. He was willing to adapt to the family's schedule, go to the hospital when we needed him, cook well, and helped us with various household chores. You're always welcome, Harry! Blessings on your trip and all your plans!

This place is magical. I had the oportunity to stay here for a month and a half and I couldn't be more happy I made the decision to go there. The hostel is located in a beautiful, peaceful town but somehow with always lots of things to do. The air there simply felt different. The hosts are amazing, always making sure that you're okay and they're super chill, which I really appreciated. The work doesn't even feel like work, just 2 hours a day of cleaning that was actually enjoyable. They have a beautiful yoga room that made my mornings the best, and a sauna. Also, there's the best organic grocery store next to the hostel, and the river 5 minutes away. Honestly, there's not much more you could need.

Gregor was the perfect volunteer to have towards the end of the season. After having a busy and overwhelming summer, we needed someone was going to bring the mood back up and Greg was the right person. Their tasks were doing check-ins and check-outs. They would usually do the afternoon shift three days of the week, two days off and they would have to work on the weekend the whole shift. Greg was such a joy to work with. They would always be happy to get the guests from the hostel to go out even with even when the staff was on holidays. They were friendly, out going, communicative and willing to talk to anyone. A great energy in the hostel and we had a lot of fun socializing with them. We recommend Gregor to anyone who is looking for someone to have a lot of fun times with and we would gladly work with them again anytime! Miss you Greg! Hope to see you soon! Rita and all the Staff

I had a great time with Katie on Salt Spring ! This was my first Workaway experience, and I could not have asked for a better first host. Katie was extremely communicative, and was very clear about everything both before and during my stay! I learned a lot about animals and farm life while living here, and had a great time. The work and hours were very reasonable. I loved being a part of their family, and I felt very welcomed ! I joined them for many activities, such as the fall fair, which was a wonderful way to get to see Salt Spring. Additionally, Elliot (the dog) was adorable and I loved my daily walks with her! Overall, Katie was a wonderful host and I loved my time there !

I had a great time in Seattle with Gene! He is a very interesting person, and very open to sharing about his life. Gene is a wonderful host, and it was one of my first workaway experiences, which set a great tone. He showed me around Seattle, and it was so cool to have a long time resident scoop on the city. We went to the mountains for fruit/vegetables, but along the way we saw so many cool sights including mountain goats! Additionally, Gene is a wonderful cook and we had many delicious meals, including a Canadian thanksgiving feast. One of my main tasks was cooking, which was a wonderful fit as this is something I love to do. I made various Slavic dishes and it was wonderful to share the food/culture with Gene and housemates. The work was very reasonable, and overall I had a great time!

Rona joined us mid September and we had the chance to be one of the stops of her travels. Straight away she jumped in the garden and worked independently, guided by her own experience. In the house, she brought her flair, being open in helping wherever it was needed and created beautiful things in the kitchen. Intelligent, social, mature and fun, it was a pleasure to have her with us in the start of a transformational period for us as a family. In these times where we are pushed into hating eachother, being forced to face dilemmas, pick sides and keep breathing this negativity, we learned from eachother, found our trust, love and force to continue our lives. Thank you for everything ❤️

Sorry for the late entry Samuel, you deserve better than that. Anyway, just wanted to say that for a 20 year old you are pretty capable and nice to have around. You accomplished the main job which I dreaded to start with a great outcome, now I have a functional much higher raised garden bed than before. Good workmaship even though I only provided recycled materials which are always a challenge to make look nice but you accomplished that well. Thanks for your help, much appreciated - and if you have to leave NZ from Auckland you are welcome to come again even if only for 3-4 days, we make exeptions for good people :-)) All the best for your travels. Ellen

It was such a pleasure having Celine volunteer with us! Her speaking practice sessions were engaging and enjoyable — our students really appreciated the chance to practice their English with her. She created a warm and friendly atmosphere that made everyone feel comfortable and motivated to talk. We also loved having Esmeralda, her adorable little dog, around! The students were delighted by her presence, and she added an extra touch of joy to every session. Thank you, Celine (and Esmeralda!), for your kindness, energy, and great spirit. You’ll always be welcome back!
