My stay went very well. Errol and Ondrej are incredibly kind and welcoming hosts, and I felt very comfortable in their home from the very first day. They’re both very interesting people who love to talk about all kinds of topics. Errol is also an amazing cook, he prepared delicious meals every day, and I really enjoyed sharing them together at the table. The work was always clearly explained and varied. I helped plough the field, make compost, and clean the shutters, among other small daily tasks. It was a great opportunity to learn more about farm life and to work outdoors in a peaceful environment. Errol and Ondrej also helped me discover the Czech Republic . I’m especially grateful to Ondrej for taking me to the mountains on my day off. They were also very flexible and let me spend a few days with friends, which I really appreciated. The village is surrounded by countryside. I really enjoyed walking and running there. I’m very grateful for the two weeks I spent with them and would highly recommend this experience!

We spent five weeks at Edward and David’s, and it was a great experience for us. Their generosity and kindness was fantastic and we really enjoyed our time at their place. We’re so grateful for the trust they placed in us during our 4 weeks housesitting their house and garden. During our stay, we cared for their home and expansive, and beautifully designed garden. We took great care in maintaining the house, keeping everything clean and tidy, and tackling various odd jobs in the house and grounds. The garden was a joy to work in—lush, peaceful, and full of character. We spent time watering, weeding, tending to the fish ponds, and looking after a wide variety of plants. One of the highlights was also the initial week spent working alongside Edward and David in the garden, helping with mulching, deadheading, and replanting. Mealtimes were another highlight—Edward and David are fantastic cooks, and their home-cooked meals were always delicious. The conversation around the table was lively, thoughtful, and often full of laughter!! Thank you both for being such gracious and welcoming hosts. We truly enjoyed our time with you and will keep in touch. If we’re ever in the area again, we’d love to drop by and say hello! All the very best to you both!!

Peter is a great guy, full of skills and always in a good mood. He enjoys spending time alone to discover and explore his surroundings. I stayed for almost a month at Ann-Kristin’s sanctuary and enjoyed it a lot. In the beginning, Ann showed me all the daily to-do’s and we did them together, but after some time, I was allowed to do more and more all by myself. I prepared food and fed the animals in the morning and evening, escorted the sheep, horses and Bliss to the pasture or back home, and mucked out. It was not a lot of work for me and so I also got to spend some quality time with the animals e. g. groom the horses/cows/donkeys, give belly rubs to pigs or just watch the ducks and chickens. I miss Fanny a lot! Ann is very friendly and has lots of stories to tell. We had some nice talks together but also went to the cinema once or met with ex-volunteers/friends. Even though I’m German myself, I learned many things about Eastern Germany and especially the local area. On my days off, Ann dropped me off at the train station and I got to visit cities like Cottbus, Görlitz and Frankfurt (Oder). I had a large room to live in and a bathroom to use. That, along with good hygiene (shower, washing machine, vacuum cleaner, anti-flea spray), helped to reduce the number of flea bites I got in the beginning and when I left, I eventually got rid of them. All in all, it was a pleasure to stay and work at this sanctuary. I recommend it to anyone who likes working with animals and sees them as individuals equal to us humans.

It was an absolute pleasure having Quentin with us here. He stayed for about ten days and quickly became part of the family. His curiosity, positivity, and willingness to learn made a real impression on everyone here. He assimilated well with the surroundings and worked as a team. It was an added pleasure having him for our Deepavali festivities and Celebrations. Quentin joined in all our activities with genuine enthusiasm — from learning about permaculture and aloe vera soap-making to cooking Indian food — and even celebrated Deepavali with the team. One of the highlights was when he prepared a delicious apple pie in our cob oven; We couldn’t let a French guest leave without testing his culinary skills! He brought warmth, laughter, and a wonderful sense of community to our farm. We wish him all the best in his future travels and he’ll always have friends here in Rajasthan. I stayed here for about a month. I had a really wonderful time. My main responsibilities were in the polyhouse and the emerging ‘food forest’. I have always been interested in horticulture, so it was amazing to learn so much, and to be given the trust to care and be creative with these spaces. Still, I felt the guidance from Vennela was always accessible - whether in person or over the phone. At present, there are also many other opportunities such as labelling and beautifying the medicinal plants section, or to work in the cow shed, or many artistic opportunities, among others. Vennela really encourages you to do what interests you. If you like to be guided, rather than be autonomous, there is plenty of work led by two of the ‘uncles’ - such as weeding, looking after the regenerating forest, crops, general maintenance of the farm etc. Much of the food is freshly sourced, and the ladies in the kitchen do a wonderful job. The meals gave me long-lasting energy. It can be a little spicy but you’ll be okay, just add more curd ;) or they’ll be happy to reduce the spice. The room was spacious and cosy. You can see the younger cows just outside your window playing together sometimes - they’re very cute. There is a shop full of great products - I loved the natural soaps and shampoo. Snacks from there were delish (and healthy!) too. After working, sometimes volleyball is played. Or, while the three boys from West Bengal were working on the mudhouse - they’d always encourage me to come swim in the well. Which is a fun jump and swim! It’s a very lovely community. You’ll have plenty opportunity to meet plenty of people. I made a faint attempt at learning Telugu, and picked up a little bit, but I would strongly encourage you to learn more, as this will allow you to really make deeper connections. Some of the folk on the farm speak Hindi as their first language too. Lastly, Vennela is a really wonderful human being. She’s relaxed and so nice to share conversation with. I’m so grateful for all of the horticultural knowledge she passed on. She also invited me along to a few ashrams, hikes and friendly gatherings which was great. If you are keen to learn more about farming and everything else this place encapsulates, and have an authentic experience in Andhra Pradesh - I highly recommend :)

Fabián fue muy preciso con las indicaciones para lo que debía hacer y con mucha paciencia. Muy atento y tranquilo para conmigo en la convivencia. Así que fue muy grata! Fue muy flexible a la hora de comunicarse ya que yo estoy aprendiendo francés y el me acompañó muy bien y con amabilidad en ese objetivo. Me siento muy agradecida.

Anouk was the last one to join our refit team during this period, and she immediately integrated into the group with her positive energy. She is very kind, curious, present, and highly motivated. Anouk spent a lot of time helping me down in the bilges in uncomfortable positions — and even wanted to continue when we told her the five hours were already over! She truly devoted herself to the work, also enjoyed it, and really wanted to be part of the project. We appreciate her a lot. We can only recommend taking Anouk — she is a mature, strong, and powerful woman who is also very easy to live with. She enjoys being part of a community, cooking together, playing games, always giving a helping hand, and showing deep appreciation for everything. Thank you for everything, and we can’t wait to one day really sail with you and enjoy what we all worked so hard for. Beaucoup d’amour pour toi! ❤️

Bevan stayed with us for about a month and it was a real pleasure having him here. He is respectful, enthusiastic, and full of positive energy. He was open to learning all kinds of different activities and showed great curiosity about our way of life. Despite the language barrier, he connected easily with everyone on the farm — even learning some Telugu sentences along the way! Bevan also worked very well independently and took good care of the vegetable garden on his own. Over time he became not just a volunteer but a friend — we had many nice chats and good conversations. He’s easy-going, fun, and a great person to have around. We’d happily host him again anytime. And would highly recomend him to other workaway hosts.

Incredible experience, they welcomed us in their everyday life with open arms, we shared many meals (heavenly cooked) and laughs! I left with lovely memories and was able to learn a lot from them, don't miss the chance to share a bit of your life with these charming people if you can, you will never regret it !

Tom stayed with us for two weeks together with three other workawayers. It was really nice to see how quickly he integrated into the group with his open and kind character. Tom is very motivated, can work hard, and has great endurance. He has many ideas, and it was wonderful to see his creativity unfold and how he used it :) He also noticed what needed to be done around the household and always came to help without being asked. For his age of only 18, Tom already has a lot of life experience from the many different hobbies he practices. He’s also very much a “learning by doing” type of person. Tom always had a smile on his face and spread positive energy. Thank you for everything! :)

You are so kind and hospitable. I have helped to pick up rice. However, there is a machine therefore I do no feel I can help so much. I hope I can help you. The work is not hard. I have time for myself. The place is so peaceful. I was like in one of the Ghibli film.

Steve has been an outstanding workawayer. He's come to help me with some strimming and he ended up doing also a lot of things at home; such as painting the living room, fixing the wardrobe, cooking and so on. He's the kind of person that you can trust everything at your home, he's funny, smart and a good company. He's been with us one week and has become a lifelong friend. He'll be definitely welcomed anytime in the future if he decides to come.

I was staying with Francesko for a week. I helped with some household chores and took care of the cat Bagigio who is absolutely adorable 🐈! It was easy to get along with Francesko. He is friendly and very intelligent. He made sure that i feel good and comfortable. He took me on the trip to mountainous area which i enjoyed very much. Apartment is cozy and beautiful. The view from apartment is stunning. I had plenty of time to visit Genova and around. Thank you for everything 🙏🫶

Saara joined our boat refit together with her friend Lotta and stayed with us for two weeks. It was so nice to have them here, to get to know them, and to see how they developed during their stay — becoming more and more independent, outgoing, and courageous :) Saara and Lotta really stand out for their incredible politeness and helpfulness. They show so much respect for everyone and everything around them and are always very grateful. We truly appreciated that. They were curious, asked lots of questions, and were eager to learn more :) It was also very nice for us to see how much they enjoyed being here — they said and showed it often! We can warmly recommend taking Saara and Lotta either as a team or individually. They are both very kind, can work hard once you show them what to do, and are great at living in a community — they “see” the work that needs to be done, including in everyday household tasks. Thank you so much for everything! We already miss you both and are looking forward to welcoming you back on board somewhere in the world when the boat is in the water :) Lots of love from us and all the best for your dreams and plans! ❤️Forever part of the family! :)

I stayed in Marta's home for 10 days and it was wonderful and memorable experience. Marta is very kind, open and friendly. She treats workawayers with care and respect. She has great cooking skills and i was lucky to try some delicious meals. She also brought me and other workawayer girls she had at the same time to the beautiful places in the area and to try sicilian food. The house is beautiful and located in very nice area only few minutes walk from the beach and has a nice outside area. Marta gave clear instructions what should be done and how to treat doggos. I enjoyed walks with the doggos and fell in love with them soo much 💗 I am very grateful for the wonderful stay in Rometta Marea 🙏 🫶 Would be happy to come back one day.
