Staying with Isabela was such a beautiful experience. It was the first place I stayed when I arrived in Ecuador and it couldn’t have been a better start to my journey. The hostel is surrounded by magical Cloud Forest, full of hummingbirds and peace. It’s such a calm, relaxing place where you immediately feel connected with nature. The work at the reception is super chill and easy. You have plenty of time to read a book, journal, or do your own things when guests don’t need anything. Isabela and her mom Nela are both amazing, kind-hearted people who always help with whatever you need and make you feel at home. There are also lovely animals around – the cat Koko, and the dogs Kiwi, Pipo and Gus. They make the place feel even warmer and more alive. I have a basic levef of Spanish, but the family is very patient, so it is a ideal place to practice!:) The surroundings are beautiful too. There are great hikes, waterfalls like Cascadas de Nambillo, and nice local restaurants with good food. The town itself is small and very peaceful. I loved the experience so much that after two and a half weeks of traveling I actually came back and stayed again. It was truly magical and I would 100% recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful and heartwarming experience in Ecuador. Un abrazo. Muchas gracias por todo!

Lotta joined our boat refit together with her friend Saara and stayed with us for two weeks. It was so nice to have them here, to get to know them, and to see how they developed during their stay — becoming more and more independent, outgoing, and courageous :) Lotta and Saara really stand out for their incredible politeness and helpfulness. They show so much respect for everyone and everything around them and are always very grateful. We truly appreciated that. They were curious, asked lots of questions, and were eager to learn more :) It was also very nice for us to see how much they enjoyed being here — they said and showed it often! We can warmly recommend taking Lotta and Saara either as a team or individually. They are both very kind, can work hard once you show them what to do, and are great at living in a community — they “see” the work that needs to be done, including in everyday household tasks. Thank you so much for everything! We already miss you both and are looking forward to welcoming you back on board somewhere in the world when the boat is in the water :) Lots of love from us and all the best for your dreams and plans! ❤Forever part of the family! :)

Yael and Richard arrived with their campervan, great stories and excellent building skills. We spent two weeks together in October and enjoyed the rhythms of autumn seeping in. They loved our kids, and our youngest especially liked to hang out at their campervan. Besides construction, Yael made us a beautiful dinner one night, and they left us with lots of good instructions. They are lovely to have around, both enjoying time together as well as spending time by themselves. We can recommend them to anyone, you'd be lucky to have them!

I stayed with this family for two weeks, and every day was precious. My role was to spend time with the little girl, playing together, and helping her with her homework. They are a very sweet family and will welcome you with open arms, making you feel at home even when you're actually miles away from your real home. I recommend everyone to spend time with these wonderful people.

[ENG] Noriko and Marcello has been for one week like a second family to me! Their hospitality and willingness to make things has been the best part of my trip. Not only that, they listened carefully to my ideas and together we did things that could make us all happy. The work is very dependable on the season, but they will clearly tell you their plan about what can be done during the time of your stay. Work hours and breakfast/lunch/dinners are also very flexible, at the end i was so hooked to the project that we were doing, that spending time working on it together felt more like a true experience than just work! We also went together to a pottery exhibition and i cycled around the area through so many little shrines, that is indeed so different from the city of Tokyo. To sum up: i would recommend this experience to a person that would love to try something different outside of the city, learn the culture and immerse in the rural life with two artists/makers/chefs/good souls. Non solo, hanno ascoltato attentamente le mie proposte e insieme abbiamo svolto attività che ci hanno reso tutti felici. Il lavoro dipende molto dalla stagione, ma ti illustreranno chiaramente il loro programma e cosa si può fare durante il tuo soggiorno. Gli orari di lavoro, così come quelli della colazione, del pranzo e della cena, sono molto flessibili. Alla fine, ero talmente coinvolto nel progetto che stavamo portando avanti che passare il tempo a lavorarci insieme sembrava più una vera esperienza di vita che un semplice lavoro! Siamo anche andati insieme a una mostra di ceramica e ho potuto pedalare nella zona, attraversando tanti piccoli santuari. È davvero un'esperienza diversa rispetto alla città di Tokyo. In sintesi: consiglierei questa esperienza a chiunque voglia provare qualcosa di diverso fuori dalla città, imparare la cultura e immergersi nella vita rurale in compagnia di due artisti/artigiani/cuochi/anime belle.

Johanna was very kind and great with the kids, she managed to build strong connections with them. But overall, we did not have a good experience. We had to adapt to her availability during the 2 weeks she stayed with us. We didn’t receive much help; she often made excuses to avoid tasks and seemed to be in Montreal mainly to enjoyed herself and travel. Communication was very difficult due to interpretation issues, as English is not our first language.

Wow! I spent 2 weeks here in August-September of 2025, & it was such a wonderful experience. The care, passion & dedication to these beautiful primates is truly inspiring & a privilege to be part of. The work that is required is clearly explained to us & we have training days so that everything is clear. There is an easy to follow roster each new week so you know exactly what is expected of you on each given day & if you are ever unsure about anything there is always someone to ask or your fellow volunteers can help you too. Being in a vege/vegan kitchen was amazing & there were always staple food items to make meals or even joint meals with fellow volunteers & staff. The community built here is felt & the interns & permanent staff have a clear connection with one another, as do the volunteers within such a short time frame. There are cleaning days & more practical preparation days which gives a comfortable mix in the type of work you do. Sometimes you might find yourself doing garden work/mending clothes, too. The nearby town of Looe was simply beautiful to visit on days off with lots of beaches & places to explore. I loved learning more about primates & hearing each individual story they have & I can't recommend this place enough. Thankyou for a wonderful first Workaway experience!

Kathryn and Ross made me feel welcome and relaxed right from the start, i stayed in the yoga room with with my own shower and kitchen and a view over the mountains, wow.They have a good eye for interiors aswell as exteriors and landskaping and this you will see in there Permaculture garden, figs, mulberrys,pomegranite and fresh vegetables from the garden and when the day gets hot, the swimmingpool with a view. I will hihly recommend this place, you will not be disappointed Thankyou Kathryn and Ross Marco

My stay with Åsa was originally supposed to last 10 days, but I ended up staying for 25! I had a wonderful time in her pleasant and comfortable home. I love Åsa's place; it was beautiful in early autumn. Åsa is very kind, attentive and welcoming. It was a pleasure to stay at her house, to cook together, to chat and to help her with her wonderful project. I am delighted to have participated in the renovation of the barn by painting the interior and a little of the exterior. I took care of Sophie, Lola's kitten (Åsa's adorable cat). She was so cute. I was able to organize my time flexibly and have enough time to visit and work for myself. A big thank you to Åsa for our interesting conversations, her help with my English and for the moments we shared together. I hope to have the opportunity to come back and enjoy a pastry in your café ;) I wish you all the best.

This project left my heart full, it's been my first workaway and I couldn't ask for more. Esi and Jan are super welcoming and always try to let you feel comfortable in the best way they can, the food was super good and the children are amazing. I reccomend you to join this beautiful experience because it's worthy at all. Lots of love for the foundation, thanks for taught me real meaning of life.

We spent two wonderful weeks at Rob and Doreen’s farm. From the very first day, they made us feel like part of the place. You can truly see how much they love the land and all their animals, and that feeling is beautifully contagious. It was amazing to spend time with the animals. We’re taking Bela in our hearts, always coming to greet us every day with incredible energy for her eleven years. We still laugh about the male sheep who kept trying to push us with his head whenever we walked by. We like to think that was his way of saying “hello.” We’re also grateful that they let us pick fresh herbs from their garden, and to Doreen for letting us taste her delicious artichokes. The cabin is super comfortable, and having free afternoons allowed us to explore the stunning beaches and forests in the area. We loved the peaceful countryside, the birds, the star-filled sky, and the beautiful walks you can do right inside the farm. We recommend this experience to anyone who wants to connect with nature, learn new things, and feel useful while helping a project that truly deserves it. Thank you so much, Rob and Doreen, for welcoming us into your home. We leave full of gratitude and hope to come back one day. 🌿🤍

My experience at the Uttam's guest house was truely the best experience to start my trip in this country and learn Nepali culture and lifestyle. Uttam was really reactive by message and his nephew picked me up directly from the airport to his place. Unfortunately Uttam was in a trek with others volunteers during my workaway but I was with his nephew Sahadev which is such a pure and beautiful person. My work was about helping Sahadev for cooking, cleaning the area, creating anything that can make this place better. always in a peaceful mood. the accomadation was more than okay and we share a lot of beautiful moment together as playing music, cooking local food, going for a hike, playing sports... They are also mountain guide so they can help you to plan your futures treks! It's really helpful to choose which ones you'll do Really excited to meet you again in Nepal or somewhere else!

It has been a truly wonderful experience having Marie as part of our family. From the very first day, she was kind, friendly, and eager to help with anything we needed. She is responsible, well-organized, and takes great initiative, which made it very easy and natural for her to fit into our family life. The children adored her from the start. She connected with them in a very special way, giving them her time, attention, and affection. She genuinely enjoys spending time with kids — playing, suggesting activities, and joining in their daily routines — which created a joyful and positive atmosphere in our home. Marie is also a very clean and tidy person, always keeping everything in order and showing great respect for our home. She is independent and confident, but at the same time very considerate and cooperative, which made living together smooth and pleasant at all times. One thing that touched us especially is how much she loves animals. With our cat Mincha she was affectionate and attentive, and whenever we met other animals along the way, she would instantly brighten up. You can clearly feel her passion when she talks about her horses — it’s a genuine love that shines through in her words and her eyes. Her positive attitude and energy have truly been a gift for all of us. We wholeheartedly recommend her to any family looking for a caring, trustworthy person with a great ability to adapt and bring happiness wherever she goes. She would be wonderful not only in any Workaway with children, but equally in a Workaway with animals, or even in roles involving people and customer service — she has the qualities to do it all. Español Ha sido una experiencia verdaderamente maravillosa tener a Marie como parte de nuestra familia. Desde el primer día fue amable, cercana y siempre dispuesta a ayudar en todo lo que necesitábamos. Es responsable, organizada y tiene mucha iniciativa, lo que hizo que encajara en nuestra vida familiar de manera fácil y natural. Los niños la adoraron desde el principio. Conectó con ellos de una forma muy especial, dándoles su tiempo, atención y cariño. Se nota que realmente disfruta estando con los niños: jugar, proponer actividades y acompañarlos en las rutinas diarias se convirtió en algo alegre y positivo para todos. La recomendamos de todo corazón a cualquier familia que busque una persona cariñosa, de confianza y con una gran capacidad de adaptación. No tengo ninguna duda de que encajaría perfectamente en un Workaway con niños, pero también en un Workaway con animales, o en cualquier otro tipo de experiencia, incluso de trato con el público. Throughout her stay of one month, Annelie took part in a wide variety of experiences, and she was always forthcoming, considerate and helpful. She helped around the house, she helped our village friends, and we made a one-week trip to a renewable energy conference in Denmark, where we made new friends and learned a lot. Annelie enjoys cooking, and her meals are indeed enjoyable. She never shies away from learning, and she takes on new challenges with calm determination to accomplish them, which she does. Annelie is not only resourceful, but politically conscious and an advocate for rights of the downtrodden.

Yui is a very kind and patient person. She is very helpfull and willing to help and work. Sometimes the communication was a bit challenging because of language-confusion. She needs to upgrade her practical skills too a bit, but she's very willing to do so and to learn. Our kids really adored her and she was very kind and playful towards them, which we (and they) very much appreciated. We exchanged a bit of Swedish and Japanese, which was fun! She also made a delicious Japanese meal and she really appreciated our own kitchen-adventures. She was nice having around.

Francesca was a pleasure and a gift to host. Not only was she always helpful on a variety of tasks, all of which she mastered exceptionally well, but we had many interesting conversations and nice excursions. We enjoyed swimming in the lakes together, and she is set to become scuba-diver. Also, Francesca likes to go on small expeditions of her own. For lunch and dinner, Francesca added Italian flavours and textures to the meals like we nearly thought we were in Italy. She sowed the seed of inspiration to visit her native island of Sardinia. Her calming presence and sense of humour, with a glimpse in the eye, make Francesca easy to be around.

I stayed at this beautiful farm for a little over five weeks, and it truly was the best time ever! The place is surrounded by nature, animals, and great energy. From the very first moment, Henk and Frits welcomed me with open arms and made me feel at home right away. Both of them are such kind, funny, and open-hearted people, for me it was impossible not to feel comfortable around them. Frits is such a open, and funny person who always makes you feel like you can talk to him about anything if you want to. The work never really felt like work, it was more like spending time together, helping out, and enjoying every moment. I mostly helped with gardening, cleaning the apartments and the barn. I honestly loved every task. I’m so grateful for all the laughs, great talks, and unforgettable moments I shared with Henk and Frits. I would come back anytime this place and the people there will always have a special place in my heart. 🤍

Having Thomas with us was a great experience. He is such an energetic person, full will to help out in anything giving his extra mile without asking. He's such an enthusiastic Teacher. Students enjoyed having him in class and so fun to talk to. Wishing him the best on his next journeys!!

My stay went very well. Errol and Ondrej are incredibly kind and welcoming hosts, and I felt very comfortable in their home from the very first day. They’re both very interesting people who love to talk about all kinds of topics. Errol is also an amazing cook, he prepared delicious meals every day, and I really enjoyed sharing them together at the table. The work was always clearly explained and varied. I helped plough the field, make compost, and clean the shutters, among other small daily tasks. It was a great opportunity to learn more about farm life and to work outdoors in a peaceful environment. Errol and Ondrej also helped me discover the Czech Republic . I’m especially grateful to Ondrej for taking me to the mountains on my day off. They were also very flexible and let me spend a few days with friends, which I really appreciated. The village is surrounded by countryside. I really enjoyed walking and running there. I’m very grateful for the two weeks I spent with them and would highly recommend this experience!
