Our experience at Martin's was great! His house and garden are beautiful and full of fruit/vegetables. There is always a lot to do to help so it is possible to choose the task you are more at ease with. During our time we had the opportunity to do weeding, bamboo construction and to discuss other projects with Martin. Thanks again for all the interesting stories, for evening Rummy Q games and for the campfire night ! Take care and a lot of kisses to Killa and Chaska.

We had an amazing time and experience with the whole family for 12 days. They made us feel very welcome from the beginning until the end. We fit in the family inmediately, as we had our small routines to help mostly on the daily house tasks, and also developing a website/instagram and facebook for an amazing community organization. It was great having the chance to share our cultures, cooking their and our meals, learning about animals, farming, etc. We had plenty of time to chill out, to have many conversations and to explore our cultures. Thank you, Richard, for opened us the door of your house, but also thank you Ruth, Barbara, Braian, Ricardo, Junior, Fernando, Leon and Noel for made us feel part of your family. We definetly will go again in the future to visit you.

We were lucky enough to have the pleasure of being the first workawayers at Sikko and Marga’s new home in the charming town of Vierlingsbeek. Along with Lexy the beautiful dog, Marga and Sikko made sure that we had an amazing time and made the most of this beautiful area of the Netherlands. The work was simple, helping around the house with various cleaning and gardening tasks, helping them unpack the many boxes from their house move, and help prepare for a wonderful housewarming party where we were able to meet lots of friends and family members. They have sooooo many great stories that they want to share, and we made many memories around the dinner table at dinner, laughing and sharing stories about travel and life (all while eating delicious food). We loved our stay and can highly recommend Sikko and Marga!

I could gush a long time about my stay with Mary and Eddy but I'll try and keep it reasonable. Simply put, they are the best hosts I could have found in Ireland for what I was looking for. Stay with them if you can!! As soon as I showed up I felt very welcomed and was graciously given access to a lot of things to improve the quality and comfort of my stay. Eddy is quite a curious conversationalist and prompted a lot of interesting conversations, some of which became very extended, involved, and perspective-altering discussions. He was also a great pleasure to help with in building the doors for the outdoor shed and was so patient with my utter lack of DIY experience (which is no longer a complete lack thanks to him). And with Mary, it was fun to switch things up on the days I worked with her by doing fun outdoor tasks (like making a wall badly overgrown with brambles clear again). We also did a number of hikes and walks in the surrounding mountains that facilitated more great connection and conversation and showcased the beauty of their area. By the end we had an evening routine that I came to love of watching and commentating on goofy TV shows together, and I still miss it over two weeks after leaving. I really was so reluctant to leave as Mary and Eddy were true friends to me for the whole duration of my stay. I only hope I see them again, and soon! Thanks a million, Mary and Eddy.

Alma is a great girl! Kids enjoyed her company and were always looking for her. She is really great with the kids! She spent one afternoon doing amazing kid’s facial painting! She helped me around the farm, specialy with the ewes and lambs: giving food and cleaning the barn. She learn How to drive the quad and was getting an expert using a small trail on it. She have done some gardening, also. She was ready to step forward and do the job by herself if i wasn’t home. Thank you, Alma! See you soon!

Voy a volver.

I spent one week in October 2025 and enjoyed my stay there quite a lot! Things I appreciated were: - The uncomplicated and straightforward communication: During my stay there were clear working hours, so I knew when I was needed and when I could take time off to go hiking or do some stuff for work. I never felt pressured to work longer than I needed to (according to the workaway agreement), so the few times I did, I did it because I was happy to and enjoyed the task at hand. - The hands-on mentality: I had the impression that all people involved in general expected me to do well when I was assigned to a task I had never done before and I really enjoyed the encouragement that gave me to try new stuff. In general it was a good mix of trying new things and being able to stick to tasks that I enjoyed doing and were kind of good at. - The insights: Wolfi, Helen and Lutz were open about the ups and downs of their project. It was really helpful to me (as someone interested in that lifestyle) to talk to them about their learnings, their challenges and the things that give them joy. All three of them are interesting and inspiring personalities in their own right, so talking to them is time well spent. In general, I think this project is especially interesting for people who are interested in simple life on the countryside (the outdoor shower is a gem!), renovation and construction work, agriculture, the outdoors, and working with commited young people on their vision. I wish the Team the best of luck for the upcoming months and hope that we will see each other again! Thank you for having me :)

We enjoyed having Esther as she is a trustworthy and reliable person who deeply loves the animals. She was great in volunteering with the dogs and the goats, mature despite her young age and she provided great help at the shelter. She was always polite and showed love towards the animals and the fact that she stayed for 6 weeks gave stability and connection to the dogs . We recommend her for every other host.

Any words that I will use here cannot convey the immense experience I had in the “Little huts by the river”, the place of the amazing host Titu (Ashwani), that became my good brother and family. First of all, The place is a pearl in the middle of the jungle. surrounded by oak trees, mango and Guava, With a beautiful vegetable garden and the sound of the river Accompanying you throughout the day and instilling peace and a pleasant flow. Just go down the stairs, and you are dipping in the river. There are beautiful rooms, tipi, sitting areas and peaceful gazebo above the river. To work beside Tito is a big pleasure and full with a lot of laughter and learning. (And some time arguing what is the best way to do it. That's how it is in the family 😋) Titu is a warm and smart man with a lot of great stories and experience. We work with Bamboo and build rooms and storage. We paint, fix, nailed (I got a bigger thumb 😜) and many other things. But most of all, We laughed as much as we could. We had an amazing and deeply conversations almost every end of the day. It was one of our pleasure over time. Tito is a great cook, and with the help of lovely Sanju I had the best meals I had in India throughout the years. And a tasty chai. To wake up every morning when all the sweet 8 dogs are running towards you and finish the day when the cat sleeps in your lap, there is nothing more heartwarming than this. I'm grateful that Tito place was my first experience as a volunteer with Workaway, that Could not be more perfect than that. I thank Tito of the hospitality, food, the wonderful hospitality and being together with laughter and experiences. I will back here as soon as possible. Thank you Tito ❤️

I stayed there three weeks between September and October 2025 and had a great time! Regarding the work, there's a first shift from 8 to 9 in the morning, then another one from 10 to 12 and a last one from 5 to 7 in the evening. The work mostly consists of feeding and walking the dogs. Some also need medicine, but it's not complicated at all. The work also includes amenities and other small jobs (painting, cutting, moving stuff...). From 9 to 10 am, it's breakfast time that volunteers usually have together. Everyone works the first shift, then you either do the other two the same day or one or the other. During your free time, it's allowed to go and spend times with the dogs. The accommodation I was in was great. A big tent with a double bed, two bedside tables, two lamps and a proper floor. The eating area is common, so are the toilets and the shower, which are spacious, clean and work well. Water is especially precious in that part of Portugal, so you have to be careful. The kitchen would be the negative point of the common spaces as it is very small. Only two persons can cook at the same time. For me, it was the perfect mix between volunteering and vacation, because you still have plenty of free time to enjoy Algarve. It's easier if you have a car or a bike to move around. I didn't have any. But thanks to the other volunteers and public transportation, I was able to travel easily here and there. In addition to the dogs, getting to meet people from all over the world is the other greatness of this volunteering experience.

Some people and places impact your lives in ways you would never expect. It was an absolute honour to spend time in such a beautiful place, with beautiful souls surrounded by peace, love and kindness. I still become overwhelmed with emotion from my stay. Thank you from the bottom of my heart and if you will have me back I will see you all next year.

We stayed at Ishwor's family farm for a week. We really enjoyed our time there and would recommend it to anyone that is interested in learning more about traditional farming and cooking. While there we cleared out and prepared the field for planting around 100 fruit and spice trees. We worked closely with Ishwor's mother and she made us feel like a part of the family, every time. Close to the house there are numerous waterfalls with fresh water in which you can take some wonderful baths! The surrounding area is green and lush, with plenty of birds flying around. We felt that the time spent there was extremely precious and will for sure come back!

I had great fun during my two week stay with Francis, Linda and Amber. I helped them in the garden and did some painting in the house for them. They kindly let me use their bike to explore the local area and see some of the lovely french countryside. On one of my days off I got to visit the city of Albi. We always ate dinner together and the food was always amazing. Thank you for hosting me and being so kind and accommodating.
