Jess and Jazz are extremely competent, especially for their age. They have positive energy and lift the spirits of people and animals alike. They are great cooks, are excellent animal caretakers, and know basic framing and other construction skills. They are both quick learners, and any Workaway host will be lucky to have them visit! They are welcome back here any time and will be greatly missed!

Phoebe was such a joy to have here, I miss her happy smiles, great conversation and amazing cooking. No host will be disappointed if the host her, Phoebe was very proactive, did not wait around for me to give her things to do, she is extremely bright and figured things out on her own. We had really interesting chats on a multitude of topics, despite looking young, she is in her 30s and has had a few years to figure herself out. I cannot recommend her highly enough, she is welcome back here any time!

We can’t thank Samuel enough for the immense help he gave us on our farm. He is a very polite, respectful, and incredibly hardworking person 💪🏾. For our family, it was truly a pleasure to have him in our home — not only as a volunteer but also as a friend. We wholeheartedly wish him all the best in his future projects, and the doors our place will always be open for him. We recommend him 100%! We’re sure any project would be lucky to have Samuel as a volunteer. Thank you for everything, Samuel! Merci! 🌿

Pauline and Niek are truly wonderful people, and I am incredibly lucky and grateful to have had this experience. Costa D'Azzetta is a slice of paradise in a world that often moves too loudly and quickly. It felt magical to slow down and enjoy the little wonders of life on their farm. I loved gardening, painting, and exploring the surrounding village and nature. I would 100% recommend this stay! Plus, Pauline is a fantastic cook ❤️

When we first met, Catherine cheerfully said that I was going to have an interesting experience here — and she was absolutely right :) I loved the tasks she gave me, some of which were even quite challenging! Living in her beautiful home has become one of my most precious memories in Canada. I really admire her bright energy and all the fascinating life philosophies she shares — from history to culture, I’ve learned so much from her! I’m truly grateful for all her care during this time, and I believe our paths will cross again in the future :)

I stayed a week with Felix and his mother Carmen at their house. The work was very little as the school didn't need any help. So the experience was more of a cultural exchange. That meant more time to explore Caraz and the beautiful nature around it. We were provided breakfast and lunch and in exchange cooked dinner for them. I would recommend this experience to someone who wants to see the area with the mountains and lagoons as well as live with a local family. Thank you Felix and Carmen for your kindness and hospitality!

Thank you Mish & Nige for this incredible stay at here! Every person visiting New Zealand should come here to get a glimpse of the conservation work that is done to protect the native species of birds and plants. It was a very interesting stay and I leave with a better understanding of the nature of the country and ideas to bring back home. Mish and Nige are very hard workers and grateful for the help you bring. Next to that they are really welcoming people. Always making sure you feel comfortable and having everything you need. The food cooked by Mish was delicious! Thank you for this week (that went so fast!)

Very beautiful adventure that I was given to experience in the kingdom of Joyce. I was there for a natural construction project and it went well, both in terms of organization and understanding between the participants. The kingdom of joyce, its trees sometimes with long nails and imposing foliage or with a winking smile like a red, yellow fruit tree which overlooks the sea and the mountain. Depends of the season, he lets the wind and humidity caress it. Sometimes it s could be strong but don't panic, there will always be a hat or scarf that falls from the sky and can be shared via Ilektra. this also means that the little rainbow is not far away. he's never far away anyway... Over there, there is sand, clay, wood, fire, water, stones, a lot of life. something to do. depends on the needs of the moment or current desires. Thanks to Ilektra who has the intelligence to know the importance of combining happiness in the plural. and wanting the happiness of others. To accept humanity in its complexity while cultivating simplicity.

My partner and I spent around 3 weeks with Carina, Fulco, their daughter (and Minja!). We helped out with many tasks, including clay studio cleaning and preparation, gardening, planting and leaf clearing, and helped Fulco insulate and plasterboard a new office space. The clay cottage is exactly as described. We enjoyed the separate space with our own kitchen, bathroom and lounge. It was the best space to relax and have space in the evenings, and on weekends when we were not biking around the beautiful area. We loved the shared family dinners and evenings in the barn chatting, especially Braai nights! Carina welcomed us to some of the pottery classes she holds on-site, and we both left with a piece or two that we are very happy with. Carina and Fulco are very welcoming and seek workawayers with a can-do attitude who can work relatively independently, and were there to provide support and answer questions about tasks. The family and Achterhoek area have taken a place in our heart - and anyone who is lucky enough to have a workaway experience with them will leave very fulfilled!

Having Ana; with us was truly a joy from beginning to end! She brought so much positivity, creativity, and warmth to our project. From her English lessons at the school in the mornings to the fun afternoons full of crafts, games, cooking, and music — she gave her heart in everything she did. The children absolutely loved spending time with her, and she always managed to make every moment special. Beyond her wonderful work, she was also a lovely person to share conversations and laughter with. Her calm energy and kind spirit brought harmony and happiness to the house. We are so grateful for everything she contributed and for the light she brought into our days. If anyone has the chance to host her, don’t think twice — she’s a fantastic volunteer and a beautiful person inside and out. 💛 Thank you, Ana, for choosing to share part of your journey with us. You’ll always have a family here in Quillabamba!

Maya stayed with myself, my daughter, our doggie and another workawayer for a month, in July 2025. We had a great time that month and the energy in the house felt very harmonious. Maya got along really well with our small family and with the other workawayer. She was excellent with my daughter - they interacted a lot, played educational games, ate new foods, went for long dog walks and generally had fun. Maya also was a fantastic help on the day of our rather spontaneous and chaotic toddler birthday party! I noticed that she uses her own initiative and can see when things need doing - she also keeps a calm head when others are stressed (a very valuable trait), such as when our bouncy castle started to deflate half an hour before the children arrived! She always kept the house clean and tidy, organised areas that were long neglected, and helped the other workaway in the garden on the nicer days. We had some great conversations and I found her very understanding and empathic. Maya is a natural around children and was always very caring, organised and attentive. I'd highly recommend Maya for future workaway experiences.

This was my firs volunteer experience but definitely not the last, also, I'll be return to the farm as soon as I can. The atmosphere is so peaceful and exactly what I needed after years of big city life. My nervous system thanks, it is perfectly renewed and smoothed out :) All the people on the farm are nice and open minded, includes owners, local workers, volunteers or guests. I'm not the first and probably not the last one highlightes Giuseppe. He is definitely the soul of this place, a wonderful treasure of the farm. He is always caring and cheerful, like a nonno as he is. I'm grateful and blissed for the chance to meet beautiful people from all around the world who taught me a lot, most of them are in my heart 🫶🏼 I stayed only for three weeks, but sooo many things happened that I'm still processing my experiences, so I can't say more than that I couldn't have imagined anything better.

Volunteering with team here in Nairobi has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. I stayed with Jack and his family during my time there, and from the moment I arrived, I felt safe, welcomed, and genuinely cared for. His daughter Terry - the sweetest 6-year-old I’ve ever met - brought so much joy to my stay, and Jack went above and beyond every day to make sure I was comfortable and supported. Walking through Mathare is emotionally heavy. The living conditions are incredibly tough, and it’s something you need to prepare yourself for mentally. But once you're there, you quickly realise that Mathare is also full of beautiful, resilient souls - people who greet you with warmth, openness, and a willingness to share their stories. As a business owner who helps local businesses with their social media back home, I wanted to offer my skills in any way they might help. I created a social media strategy for the organisation, refreshed their branding, interviewed residents about their dreams and challenges, and captured daily life in Mathare to create content for the organisation. I also took part in community initiatives - mentorship sessions for teen mums, assisting with donations, and joining women’s empowerment sessions focused on financial inclusion. Jack and the team here are doing incredible work and there is a real opportunity for anyone - no matter your skill set - to contribute and make an impact. If you're considering volunteering in Mathare, I cannot recommend it enough. Go with an open mind and an open heart - you’ll leave with a deeper understanding of the world and a newfound appreciation for community.

Romane is one of the kindest, humble and easy going people I have ever met. She got stuck into a variety of tasks while at our farm and did all of them cleaner and more efficiently than most people that have stayed here, myself included at times! She played with our son, cooked for us, played games with us, and was just a pleasure to have around. So sad that she can’t stay with us all the time! I wish her the best of the rest of her learning journey. Thank you for everything Romane!

Ylvi and Nico didn’t exactly come as Workawayers - there wasn’t any work for them at the time - but I invited them to stop by anyway since it was on their way. They stayed for two nights and slept in their camper, a rolling showcase of DIY ingenuity. We had a great time cooking, eating, chatting and hiking together. They are fun, positive and genuine people, with a lifestyle that’s refreshingly different and a real interest in all things nature-related; I greatly enjoyed discussing plant and bug names with them :) If you get a chance to meet them, don’t pass it up!

I stayed on the farm for two months and it was an amazing experience! The food was always fresh and delicious, and the people were incredibly kind, welcoming, and helpful. The accommodation was very comfortable, and I felt at home from the very first day. During my stay, I learned a lot about farm life, gardening, and sustainable living, and I really enjoyed every moment from working outdoors to sharing meals and conversations together. It was a great balance of work, learning, and fun. I’m so grateful for the time I spent there and for all the wonderful people I met. I can truly recommend this farm to anyone looking for a meaningful and enjoyable experience!
