Que decir de mi experiencia con Luis en la selva del Amazonas en Tarapoto ( Perú), la vida a veces te hace dudar. Sin embargo ahí es donde suele estar la respuesta. Ha sido una experiencia transformadora y enriquecedora a partes iguales. Luis es una persona especial de la cual vas a aprender mucho y desde luego te irás mejor de lo que has venido. Lo recomiendo a todo el mundo que tenga la mente abierta y ganas de tener una experiencia que difícilmente la vas a tener en otro sitio. Si vas con buena predisposición y ganas de ayudar este lugar es para tí. Es cuanto a las labores que vas a hacer son un poco opcionales según tus preferencias. En la huerta, la casa, con los niños etc, es muy flexible y respeta tus tiempos. Es todo muy ameno y tendrás tiempo libre. What can I say about my experience with Luis in the Amazon rainforest in Tarapoto, Peru? Life sometimes makes you doubt yourself. However, that's often where the answer lies. It was a transformative and enriching experience in equal measure. Luis is a special person from whom you will learn a lot, and you will certainly leave better than when you arrived. I recommend it to anyone with an open mind and a desire to have an experience that you're unlikely to find anywhere else. If you go with a positive attitude and a willingness to help, this place is for you. The tasks you'll be doing are somewhat optional, depending on your preferences. Whether it's in the garden, around the house, with the children, etc., it's very flexible and respects your schedule. It's all very enjoyable, and you'll have plenty of many free time.

I've spent 10 beautiful days with the family, surrounded by the magnificent colors of autumn. It's a house where you feel good, both because of the comfort of being in a gently heated wooden house, and because of the friendly atmosphere that reigns there. Sara, Roland and the children gave me a warm welcome and really made me feel part of their daily lives. I was invited to share their meals and taste good things. I enjoyed those moments together, and the discussions we had at that time. I slept in the caravan, which was very comfortable, but it was often cold. I had brought a little sleeping bag and warm clothes, but it wasn't enough. For future Workawayers : definitely bring enough to keep you warm ! Luckily, Sara and Roland kindly lent me a blanket and a small heater. The house is quite isolated, but the surrounding nature is worth it. And Sara and Roland helped me organize a few short excursions (driving me to the train station or into town, for example), which was very much appreciated. The work was clearly outlined and they were available to answer any questions or help me if needed, so the whole experience felt really comfortable. It was mainly housework, tidying up, a little help outside with fencing the cows or assembling furniture...They also ensured that working hours and rest/free time were balanced. For a first experience, I'm truly grateful to have arrived among such caring people. I loved sitting on the sofa watching Amelie Poulain in German. While I missed my family a little, it was a bit like being adopted by a new family! I also loved the diversity and richness of our conversations. (They were very fluid in English with Sara and Roland, and a little more challenging, and also funny in a way, with the children, because we didn't have a huge vocabulary in common !) I really appreciated the children's openness and admired their resourcefulness and perspicacity. I wish them all 6 the best and many more wonderful encounters !

Words alone cannot express my gratitude. This was my first Workaway experience and I swear I never imagined I would have such a wonderful experience. If you came here, you can truly feel like you are part of the family. They are kind, smily, welcoming, creative and all the other lovely adjective, even the cats are sweet with everyone. I'm still talking with my friends about the time I spent here, and I have a lot of amazing memories with me. Going to the river together, talking with Marie, eating the "monster cake" with Jon, being empressed for Vilija's energy and waiting for Birk's "natt natt" kiss. Not to talk about the beautyful landscape around the house. The "work" is not difficult at all: looking after the children, watering the plants, cleaning the house... for me it was a pleasure to spend this time listening to Marie's music or her voice. I just want to let others know that this is not just any family, but a FAMILY. I do really wanto to come back one day, see how much the kids have grown and smile together once again. I miss you so much ! I will always treasure the time we have spent together <3

This was our first workaway experience without our parents and it was better than anything we could have imagined. This family was so welcoming and fun! We had such a blast with Jess, Dave, and their two sons, Tommy and Will. Jess was our girl, she was so easy to talk to and had such good advice. Our girls nights (where we watched Miss Congenality and baked cookies) were unmatched! Not to mention the “Witch Party” we were invited to where we enjoyed witchy treats and a big bonfire. We were also invited to join Dave and the boys on “Mans Night” every Friday (and they dressed Emerald up like a man). Dave and Jess welcomed us into their home and their community, they really made us feel like part of the fam for the three weeks we were there. In our time here we learned a lot about gardening and what the end of harvest season looks like. We helped out with harvesting onions, potatoes, sorghum, peppers, and carrots. The tasks they had for us were always fun and interesting, made better by the wonderful food Jess made everyday. We definitely have a newfound understanding of gardening and the Homestead lifestyle. Emerald loved working in the garden and helping wherever she could. It was such a satisfying experience and it has inspired her to try and start her own garden at home and she can't wait for the challenge. We thoroughly enjoyed playing cards with Will and Tommy every evening. Both of their boys are incredibly hard working and passionate, Will with his gardening and Tommy with his mechanics. In fact, we had some car trouble before we were leaving their workaway and Tommy got under there and fixed our exhaust in less than an half an hour, he saved the day! All in all, Jess and Dave have created a wonderful and cosy treehouse full of love and laughter, a piece of our hearts will always be in Dome Creek.

I stayed at Emin Ali’s farm for two months, and it was one of the best experiences of my life. Emin, Toure, Tamer, and everyone there are kind, respectful, and always ready to help with anything. They made me feel like part of a family from the first day. The place is peaceful, surrounded by nature, and the work is simple and meaningful planting, harvesting, and taking care of the farm. I learned a lot and enjoyed every moment. The food was good, the accommodation was clean and comfortable, and the atmosphere with the other volunteers was great. We shared many laughs and beautiful memories together. I really recommend everyone to visit this place if you want to experience true Turkish hospitality, nature, and teamwork. Thank you, Emin Ali, Toure, and Tamer, for everything. I will never forget this place! 🌻🙏 (Highly recommended!)

We stayed with Giuseppe for 1 month to help maintain the garden & complete the olive harvest. Ash even managed to get one of his old motorbikes running too! Our time here was very special. We got to experience the local culture, learn new skills and spend this time with some amazing people. Giuseppe is definitely one of a kind! He holds a special place in our hearts and we hope to visit him again the future:)

If you come here, I'll tell you one thing: you feel right at home, surrounded by family, with complete freedom and comfort. From my experience, this was my feeling. With plenty of activities like swimming, yoga, music, and outings with your Brazilian family… It's a safe city ( Ribeirão Pires ), and the people and family friends are very kind and make you feel like one of them… Hurry and volunteer, or you'll miss out on the best volunteering opportunity of your life. thank you so much for your exceptional hospitality Luc & Andreza

We had a great time with Gabriela, Francesca and the kids! They’re so helpful and welcoming. We helped in the garden, building the shed and got the kids addicted to pancakes haha. Having the car gave us the freedom to go to the beach everyday and explore the local towns. Appreciate everything they did for us during our stay and wish them all the best in the future!

There are places where you find peace, love, and friends, and this place offers that and much more. Thank you, Dean and Steffi, for these two weeks of my stay. Besides being a beautiful place with incredible views, you meet other tourists, volunteers, and local people. I highly recommend the place, and thank you again. Big hug! 🤗

I really enjoyed having Sarah here. She worked to her own rhythm , always calm and cheerful, and got a lot done. She chopped a lot of wood and tided many areas on the land. She chose jobs on her own initiative and I appreciated the harmony she brought. We also had many interesting discussions for which I am truly grateful. She's quite a special woman and I strongly recommend her.

Ayy Pamela, mi Pamelita :) No puedo decir de esta chica, de esta gran mujer, nada más que lindeces. Fue fantástico cómo cuidó de mis perritas, pude estar completamente tranquila mientras estuve fuera de casa. Luego Pamela demostró no sólo ser una excelente cuidadora de mis animales, sino también una gran trabajadora, con iniciativa propia. Luego el tiempo que estuvimos juntas no fue diferente, fue agradable y cómodo convivir con ella; es cariñosa, siempre dispuesta a ayudar y entusiasta en lo que hace. Espero volver a verla en algún momento y poder tener de nuevo la oportunidad de disfrutarla. Gracias Pamela por tu paso por nuestras vidas.

It was a pleasure staying a week at Ian’s place. He shared everything he had and welcomed me in is space as if it was mine too. His dogs are the best, lots of energy but lots of love and Ian is so caring of his animals. He’s a very chill guy and we worked together to finish his few project before the end of the summer, chopped some wood, learnt some plants and had nice time around the fire! Living in his small place with the chicken and dogs in the middle of beautiful mountains is one of the best memory of my summer. Clearly not for everyone but if you’re looking for calm, nature, autonomy and good moments of share, Ian’s place is gonna suit you perfectly.

Sonia was an amazing host and I really enjoyed my stay; she is kind, generous, funny, and a wonderful person to be around. Her place in Costa Paradiso is beautiful with lots of hidden gems to discover! She had lots of different projects to work on like painting, gardening, and organizing which kept things interesting while also being relaxing. Thank you, Sonia, for sharing your home with me!

Fabi tiene ahora un nuevo hogar en Colombia gracias a su personalidad entusiasta, su sensibilidad y su enorme amabilidad. No solo nos ayudó con las tareas de la finca —como trabajar en la huerta, diferentes labores y la alimentación de los animales— sino que también fue un apoyo inmenso para nuestra querida perrita Buñuela, a quien acompañó con muchísimo amor en sus últimos días. Eso nunca lo olvidaremos 🐶💛 Además, se llevó de maravilla con todos los niños de la finca; jugaron, compartieron y aprendieron juntos. Los animales siempre saben quién vibra bonito… y nos demostraron que Fabi es uno de esos seres especiales que llegan a iluminar el lugar donde están. Gracias por los buenos momentos, por tu paciencia y por el cariño que nos diste. He didn’t just help with the farm tasks —such as working in the garden, different chores, and feeding the animals— he was also an incredible support for our beloved dog Buñuela, lovingly caring for her during her final days. We will never forget that 🐶💛 He also got along wonderfully with all the children on the farm; they played, shared, and learned together. Animals always know who has a good heart… and they showed us that Fabi is one of those special souls who brighten every place they go. I stayed for 10 days just after coming off of a summer season and was travelling east. I arrived in mid fall and it is absolutely stunning! The property itself is gorgeous, right on the lake where I got to stay in a cozy little bunkie listening to the waves at night. I worked in the kitchen/serving when the B&B was open and did odd jobs outdoors when it was closed for the season. Right from the start Desmond was kind, welcoming and made me feel completely at home. He is hardworking and it was super lovely spending time with him and helping with his multiple projects. This was such a beautiful place to stay and such a lovely experience. Thank you again Desmond

I had a really nice time with Laura and her family for a week in the middle of October. My only task was to weed the driveway, and Laura was very flexible with me as to what hours I worked and this was perfect for me as it allowed me to work remotely for several hours each day as well. She also generously gave me the day off when I wasn't expecting to have one so I could see more of the area and let me borrow her bike to go for a long ride. We had a lot of great conversations after dinner about the state of the nation, Croatia and Serbia, etc... all informative and very enjoyable for me. Laura was a gracious and generous host and I would definitely recommend staying with her if you want to see Donegal and its environs. Thanks Laura!

I stayed for 3 weeks during last summer at Vero's home, looking after Pimpie while she and Leo were on vacation. I must say that it was one of the most wonderful experiences I have ever had. This was my first experience as a Workawayer and it couldn't have been better. Vero was more than a host - she has become a friend of mine. She is really loving, kind and friendly making me feel at home. Leo, her son, is one of the sweetest children I have ever known, so taking care of him occasionally was always a pleasure. About Pimpie, I must say I still think about him and I suppose I will do forever. He was the best adventure companion - always playful and affectionate. Without a doubt, I will never forget this experience and I remember it with all my heart.
