With my partner Sarah, we planned to stay 2 weeks - in the end it was almost a month! From the first moment, we felt a special connection to Ildico and enjoyed every single moment of our stay with her, Mocca and Ace. We were living quite independently in the wooden cabin, but got to spend some nice moments with Ildi during the day, and the common dinners around interesting and stimulating discussions were a must! Although she's a bit humble about it, Ildico is a great cook and we never went hungry! I especially enjoyed that things were always clear, boundaries set in a very healthy way and honesty valorised. Work on the land was diverse and we could always chose from a long list that had to be done. So all in all it was an excellent workaway experience and after these 4 weeks, I had the impression to say goodbye to a friend. (Or even to 2 friends, as I felt a special connection with Mocca, too) I can only recommend this experience to everybody who likes amazing company (but is also capable of being alone and independent), and loves to be surrounded by nature, shaped by Ildicos's ideas and knowledge!

I agreed with Maeve and Sophia to come for just a week if they were happy to give my house a deep clean. They did a great job for me and also weeded a flower border very well. Very polite, quiet and calm, they were very understanding to my situation as I had a bad cold and needed to spend time in bed. It was great that they were able to work unsupervised and did everything that was asked of them. We had a nice day to go mushroom picking and I was able to show them some of what is to be seen around the area which they seemed to enjoy. For me it was a very full and useful exchange, thanks for coming!

Leah has been a fabulous person to have helping us at the sanctuary. She is hardworking and happy to get stuck into any task and will complete them to a high standard. Leah is a very positive and friendly person to have around. Leah was very respectful to the rescued monkeys in our care and very empathetic towards our charity's mission. Overall a lovely person to have had around. Thank you, Leah!

Spending a month here has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. For the people I had the chance to talk to, the other volunteers and guests with whom I shared unforgettable moments, and the wonderful connections I built with the amazing people I met. JBay is an exceptional place, and the hostel is a gem that makes it even more special. So, a huge thank you to Kiera, Daryn, and Jason, not only for giving me the opportunity to be part of this experience, but also for making me feel at home. I highly recommend anyone who wants to spend some truly enjoyable moments to visit Jeffreys Bay and especially this hostel. Thank you from the bottom of my heart; I will never forget this experience.

Abhi was a fantastic yoga student. We had an amazing pilot yoga retreat with 2 other workaway girls. Abhis input was amazing bringing us not only gender balance but an amazing helper and curiously very talented student. Felt also amazing to have a person with Indian roots among us practicing Yoga. Abhi stayed after our magical retreat and was a great help with various tasks. Thank youuu Abhi and enjoy all your adventures that life awaits you.

What a pleasure it was to host Karin! She totally embraced her Drakensberg experience and was appreciated by staff and guests. Karin was flexible and happy to take on diversely different tasks, all of which she carried out well. We look forward to seeing her in Africa again!

Staying in Emin and Mina's Home & Studio was different from my other workaway experiences. It was like living with a new family. First, I planned to be there just one week, but things changed and I stayed more. Emin is a person who cares a lot about art and living out of the box. He is a smart and high educated man who speaks English like native people. He is also a dance trainer. He is spending so much effort for living a meaningful life there. Mina is also a real artist. She is passionate about painting and made the studio very intimate and beautiful with her paintings. Sometimes not having clear task list for me was a bit challenging but after a while we could figure this out and enjoy each other's company. They also helped me to prepare myself for my English test and with their local festival showed me a new way of communication that I love to do the same in Iran. The nature around there in Kakakoy is also stunning. Beaches, mountains, old villages all are unique in whole turkey. I did my best there and I hope they have good memories from me being there. Nice and friendly people, We were very happy to work with them, both for all their help and for the positive energy they brought to the team.

We had a wonderful time with Weronika, Markus, and Odyn. We stayed there for a week to take care of their dog, Odyn, while they were away for a couple days. Beforehand, Weronika explained everything to us, so we knew everything we needed and felt well prepared. We got along with Odyn right away— he’s a very energetic and cheerful dog, which you can tell during walks, but everything went perfect. Despite taking him out for walks, we were still very flexible and had plenty of time to explore the area, which really has a lot to offer. Weronika took a lot of time on the very first evening to give us great tips, and at the beginning we also went on a few walks together, which we really enjoyed. Definitely a wonderful experience that we can only recommend. 😊 Thank you for everything!

Having Giulia stay with us was a wonderful experience for the whole family! She was great with the children, attentive to their needs and enthusiastic in her support. We trusted her easily. Very independent, her help around the house was efficient and she quickly understood where her help would be most welcome. Communication was super smooth. We all really appreciated her gentle and cheerful personality! The three weeks flew by.

This place is fantastic! We went out of our comfort zone, for sure, but that's the good thing about it. They're doing vital work for the stray animals around Pattaya, and rely on volunteers to keep themselves going. You will be very rewarded after two weeks and will want to take at least five dogs home! We volunteered as a couple, and this worked well, with our own room. It was great to have 5-6 other volunteers alongside us to get to know and hang out with.

This was my first workaway experience and I couldn't have dreamed better ! Seraina and Jeroen are such welcoming people, they quickly made me feel like home in the boat, which is pretty spacious for a boat, even at six we still had room ! They were committed to show us the places they enjoy and provide an insight of the life around here, we had such great moments and meetings. They also have patience explaining things, learning how to use tools, and you could see they bear this project in their heart and give themself totally into it, which is so motivating ! I'm really gratefull I could join and give a tiny hand this wonderful and huge project. I wish you guys all the best, travelling around the world, dreaming and make people dream, and of course spend Christmas on the water ;)

Julie was a lovely person to host. She's a fast learner and extremely efficient and fast working individually. The week she stayed a was a bit busy with work and studies but Julie took very good care of the house and of me also. Helping me with different tasks and even making wonderful vegetarian food and lovely banana bread. Have a great bicycle holiday. BISOUS! 😍🙏😇

It was such a pleasure having Paula here! She’s incredibly sweet, kind, and easy to be around — the kind of person who brightens your day just by being there. She fit in with the household so naturally that it quickly felt like having family or a close friend around. She was also wonderful with the animals — gentle, attentive, and clearly comfortable and experienced with them. As a worker, she was fantastic: always noticing things that needed to be done, taking initiative without being asked, and even volunteering to take over several daily chores. I really appreciated how she’d jump in to help whenever she saw me working on something. Reliable, thoughtful, and genuinely lovely — I’d happily host her again anytime. Paula, we all miss you so, so much! <3

Thank you so much! Staying in your home and taking care of your sweet, playful rabbit was such a joy. You were incredibly kind and attentive, and your tips made my first weeks in Cairo so much easier and welcoming. I truly loved every moment — I got so attached to the city that I ended up staying much longer than I ever planned, and I even cried when I left 😉 Thank you for your trust, generosity, and for making me feel so at home!

Francesco is a wonderful and kind person. He helped me so much with different tasks in my Chaotic world. He's a fast learner and very interested in culture and different things. He even took me to my first heavy metal concert ever. Thank you for also sharing your passion for music with me. 😇🙏😍

I did my first volunteer work here and, thanks to this experience, I can say that I would definitely do it again. The chefs, David, Berny and Proxy, showed us the most beautiful spots on the island and introduced us to the culture. It always felt like a family trips and the only goal was to have fun. If anyone is worried about being lost in a foreign country, they shouldn't worry; they help out wherever they can and are completely selfless. Since the hostel is still quite new, there are plenty of opportunities to be creative and help shape it. It’s not a sterile hotel, but a place with character and heart. Don’t be surprised if you leave this hostel with a tear in your eye, the people here are just wonderful.🌴💖💖🥹

We had a whole wonderful month at the farm. Anna is a warm-hearted, open and communicative person who makes it easy to feel at home quickly. The animals made the farm even more lively among figs and citrus trees. Our daily tasks were very easy. About feeding animals, until vegetables harvest, watering the plants and sweep leaves together. In the afternoon we always had a lot of free time, in which we usually ate together of Anna's really delicious cooked food or we enjoyed the beach. It was a month full of lively and great experiences, an insight into the life of a loving and warm Greek woman and her everyday life. We can recommend everyone to support Anna and her farm!
