Our experience with Joe and his family was very good. They are all very kind people and you can get a deep insight in Chinese malai culture. The work is pleasant and you have a lot of spar time to explore. Ipoh offers many activities. We especially liked playing Mahjong and Pickleball, the caves, Cameron Highlands, a hot spring, the food... you can find many other things to do and Joe will always help you. Our two weeks flew by, we are very thankful for the hospitality and highly recommend the stay.

Luisa was here for a week . She has a lovely personality, calm and considerate. She was very good with my naughty furbabies. We took them to a fancy dress event and although it was challenging Luisa coped very well. She is also sociable and at a local lantern event joined in the festivities and was popular with the community. Thank you Luisa for your help and company. Hope to see you again soon. Very best wishes in all that you do

Amaury and Margaux are wonderful volunteers! They helped teach English to the kids with great energy and creativity. The children really enjoyed learning and playing with them. They also helped paint the fence beautifully and worked carefully. Their homemade cakes were so delicious — everyone loved them! 🍰 Both of them are kind, polite, and very easy to get along with. I truly recommend them to any host — thank you so much! 🌿

Patrick was a delight to have stay in our home. He is very polite, conscientious and kind. What he lacked in experience and confidence he made up for with his willingness and persistence at tasks which were unfamiliar to him. An empathetic listener which reflects his background in counselling, he was easy to accommodate and and good companion. He was also tidy and helpful with general household tasks.

Yuuki was with us for about 4 months. He was willing to do all kinds of work on our small farm: picking fruit, pruning trees gardening, cleaning several garages, renovating a shed. Yuuki always worked hard at whatever tasks I asked him to do. Also, he was a quiet and respectful house guest. It has been a pleasure having him. I hope Whistler gets good snow this year so he can enjoy snowboarding.

Janice and Michael have been my best hosts till date. And this Workaway experience was also my best. I feel really fortunate and blessed. J&M are extremely generous, kind, positive, open-minded, and inspiring hosts. They lead by example and allow a lot of variations in work schedule. They are very active in the local community and encourage Workawayers to get involved in local events/activities and with other residents of the area. Their pet family are very likeable and entertaining. Shelburne Falls is a charming, clean, and picturesque Massachusetts province. Plenty of options for outdoor activities. Very friendly and kind residents. This is a dream-come-true Workaway opportunity for all levels of Workawayers. Not to be missed. Excellent opportunity for those looking to improve their English language/cooking skills. I am forever grateful to J&M for this magical experience. They are my lifelong friends now. I would be more than willing to volunteer with them again. And honored to host them when they visit India. God bless you both and also your family and friends.

We spent 10 days with Siri and other volunteers, and it was an incredible experience. Siri is extremely kind and generous, and really focused on sharing and interacting with others. She showed us around her city and the surrounding area, always with great energy! She was always attentive to the volunteers' needs. The food Siri serves is all delicious and excellent! You'll learn a lot if you want to cook Thai food. Siri's house is also very pleasant ☺️. The city is very pleasant with several parks, markets and various shops that are very enjoyable. There is also a walking trail along the river. As for the work, Siri is really great. She allowed us to teach the children however we wanted. The children are very energetic and interested in those around them, with an insatiable thirst for learning! We are extremely happy to have been able to volunteer with Siri. It was our first volunteering experience and it was a 10/10! Once again, thank you Siri for welcoming us into your home 🙏

What should I say? A truly joyful experience! Upon arrival, we (my partner Sarah and I) immediately felt like coming home. The lovely cottage we could inhabit for the two weeks was very cozy and fully equipped, so we had everything we needed to chill out and cook nice food (we got everything we needed from Ben) after working on their beautiful land. The tasks were very diverse, which made every day different and pleasant. Among them were looking after the goats, trimming trees, weeding, collecting pine cones (Sarah's favourite), cooking for the family, watering, and many more. Ben was also consistently insisting that we should choose tasks we like, and Karo was baking us amazing bread - what could one want more? But first and foremost, I appreciated the human aspect of the experience! We were welcomed as a part of the family, and spending time with Karo, Ben, Juni and Ruby brought us both a lot of joy. The mutual trust and the very clear and open communication made it very easy to understand each others expectations and needs, which I think being and important and healthy part of community living. Thank you Karo and Ben (Juni and Ruby as well of course!) and see you soon!

I am very thankful that my last minute application got accepted! The communication with Ivan was very fast and clear and before I knew it I was getting picked up at the train station in Našice by Ivana and her lovely dog. I was immediately comfortable and on the third day it felt like I had already been there for a week! My fellow volunteers were amazing and every goodbye was a little painful. I genuinely had the best time with them and I miss our group dynamics, hanging out in the living room, talking about the dogs, playing games, watching sunsets. As for the workers, they are such incredibly kind people. Every single one of them. I really enjoyed working with them and hanging out during breaks or joining their break when I had a day off. They have a great sense of humor, are so hardworking and helpful and they love the dogs. Ivan is our saviour. He is the one you will most likely have contact with at first and he helps out where needed when it comes to the volunteers and the house and he is just incredible. I'll be forever thankful for everything he has done for us! If you like board games, you're at the right place as well, because he loves them! I loved the game nights we had with all of us and not just because I won most times ;) Ivana is the boss, she runs the shelter and has a great love and dedication for all the dogs. She works around the clock to make sure everything stays running smoothly, I don't know how she does it! She's a great person and is funny! I loved the opportunities she provided for us to come with them to educational talks at schools and we even joined them on a rescue where we picked up six puppies and their mom. I ended up staying for 6 weeks and I worked in the kennels during that time. We started at 8am and worked until 2pm with a break in between. While the work is the same everyday, I rarely got tired of it. Sometimes there were extra tasks to be done and they could be a bit more tiring or cause frustration (adding hay to the dog houses with their curious noses and playful paws in the way ;) ), but it was never too much. Out of all the tasks, I enjoyed cleaning the most. It is such a moment of zen when all the dogs are quiet with their full stomachs and you have some time to cuddle with them and to take pictures in between cleaning. What I loved as well is the opportunity to take any dog on a walk outside work hours, or to even take them to the national park on a day off! It's also a great way to get to know dogs that might usually not get noticed as much, to take pictures of them and to write a little story about them for the website or social media. It is a wonderful little sanctuary. While most of the time things will be fun and lighthearted, the reality is that all dogs and farm animals there are rescues. Their stories are often sad and sometimes heartbreaking things can happen in a shelter. Thankfully, there's a good bunch of kind people looking after them, and as volunteers we can strive to help out wherever possible during our time there. Thank you so much to everyone here. I miss you all dearly and I will come back!

Alan stayed with us for one full month and overall we had a very positive experience hosting him. From the first day, he showed a responsible and respectful attitude. He keeps his space tidy, helps maintain a clean shared environment, and respects routines and personal boundaries — qualities that make co-living truly smooth and stress-free. We never had a single issue during his stay, and communication was always easy and straightforward. Beyond daily life at home, we genuinely enjoyed spending time together. We went camping, explored nature, had long conversations, shared meals, and enjoyed a couple of relaxed evenings with a gin in hand — simple moments that made the month more fun. Alan also introduced us to Torta Frita especially when it is raining, and we are still convinced it must be powered by Esso Súper, because the whole experience was ¡está de la puta madre! 😄 It was a memorable (and delicious) cultural exchange. He is polite, thoughtful, and adaptable — a respectful and easy-going presence in the house. We appreciate his company and efforts, and we would be happy to recommend him to other hosts. Thanks again Alan, and we wish you the best on your future travels and projects!

Davide was a great help and a real pleasure to have around! He did a fantastic job mowing the entire garden and clearing all the weeds around the casita — everything looked so much better afterwards. We also had really nice conversations and shared some good laughs. Davide is kind, easygoing, and respectful. He’s always welcome back here anytime! Thank you, Davide, for all your help and great energy!

Lena was AWESOME, our little ones were looked after and had her wrapped around their little paws from the minute she came through the door. The house was well maintained and we had no doubts it was in good hand. She also handled a surprise situation very well, the neighbours cows broke in and she opened the curtains to a cow looking at her! We would easily recommend Lena to anyone needing a pet sitter.

Stayed for just over a month and was great as a first workaway. Helped with the fall harvest, preserving, food prep and lot of cooking. Lovely people, beautiful farm, great company of other volunteers.

Georgina was fantastic, great to have around the place, always great with her work but also brought a serene peaceful charm to everywhere she went. I wish there were a 6 stars option.

Pedro is one of the best Workawayers who has ever stayed with us. Always kind, helpful, responsible, humorous, positive, and genuinely nice! He’s also an excellent physiotherapy student. I had ruptured my Achilles tendon before he arrived and was in the hospital. Pedro helped me get back home and trained with me. His exercises and empathy made a huge difference in my recovery. He stayed at home with my 17-year-old daughter and helped with packing and moving, and he quickly became like a family member. He taught my daughter Portuguese before her exchange to Brazil, and thanks to him she was able to deliver a speech in Portuguese with a perfect Brazilian accent and great confidence. By the way his language skills are amazing! Pedro is organized, a good cook (we loved his bacalao!), and he handled every task we asked for, often seeing what needed to be done before we even asked. My daughter says Pedro is a natural teacher. He also drove our van during the move, and he is a very safe and responsible driver. Absolutely five stars in every way. We would welcome Pedro back anytime!

Super friendly and fully awesome, Mark and Dom are set to be legends of the Workaway arena. I'd give them a 6-star rating if I could. Brilliant in all areas, the only thing I'd say is I wish they'd stayed longer! Highly recommended!

Hosts Valerie and Rudy are great people! Right off the bat, you can tell they've lived awesome lives, and make the most of every day. The dogs living here are as happy as can be. My work was mostly physical (stacking and splitting firewood, clearing yard debris, loading and unloading a truck) but not at all time-consuming, or draining. I had plenty of energy to explore Bend during my downtime, and more than enough time. The hosts are generous and easygoing. I'm grateful to have had the opportunity, and any Workawayer would be very lucky to get offered a position here. :-)
