This was my first work away experience and I had an amazing time! Although I only stayed for one week, I learned some cool restoration skills that I’ve started using at home. Erasmo is a generous and kind host with a lovely family who were always willing to help, whether that meant providing transportation or showing us around. I was lucky to share this experience with other workawayers, which made it even more memorable. I hope to return to Erasmo’s place one day and stay for longer! I’m so glad I got to experience Castelcivita like a local

Our experience was absolutely wonderful! The surroundings are beautiful and peaceful, the perfect place to spend time with the amazing dogs who are all loved and well cared for. The host was always kind, attentive, and quick to respond to messages. Communication was smooth, and it was clear that she truly cares deeply about her animals. She’s a genuinely good person with a big heart ❤️ The shared spaces are cozy and great for hanging out with other volunteers. The showers and kitchen were clean and in good condition, everything well organized. We miss the dogs every day, but we’re so grateful for the time we spent there. Highly recommend this place to anyone who loves dogs and wants to make a difference!

This was our first Workaway experience, and we honestly couldn’t have found anywhere more perfect! We spent a month with Clare and Martyn at The Croft, and they were both incredibly generous and welcoming, we felt truly appreciated and right at home from the start. We stayed in one of the caravans, which was very comfortable and cozy. We were able to choose our own shopping, cook what we liked, and also had access to the café, which was a lovely bonus. If you’re an animal lover, you will absolutely adore it here! We got to work with and learn about all the animals, with guidance and support from Clare and Martyn. The tasks were enjoyable, rewarding, and never felt like work at all. We also had plenty of free time to explore. Even without a car, it was easy to get around, we often used their e-bikes, which were brilliant, and there are also buses that can take you into town or to one of the many stunning beaches. Clare very kindly took us on a couple of island tours herself, so we got to see Harris and Uig - places we wouldn’t have been able to reach otherwise. We would 100% recommend this Workaway and Clare and Martyn as hosts. The island is absolutely beautiful and full of things to discover. We can’t wait to come back!

Dear future hosts of Loes, if we say that Loes is an eager worker, that she is wonderful with the animals, fulfills her tasks with great responsibility and reliability and is always willing to go an extra mile for you, that would, though absolutely true, show only a part of the picture. Because she is also a wonderful person, a good listener, has a big heart, a great sense of humour and can really brighten up your day.

My volunteering experience at here was impeccable. The entire team was very welcoming and fun to be around with, which made even low-tourist season times entertaining. The hostal is kept very tidy and in a very good shape which made it an ideal place to rest a but from traveling. Volunteers enjoy some perks like free breakfast, tours etc. My tasks involved marketing and I appreciated the hostal's spirit of creativity and liberty. 100% recommended.

My perfect first Workaway! I spent one late summer's week at Margaux and Florient together with two other wonderful workawayers and we had the best time. Margaux and Florient are so kind, open, chill and fun people and the place and life they built is very inspiring. We basically lived outside all day, but when it got cold we also went inside. The work was varied - from picking up stones to design a nice exterior wall to collecting dried bamboo for a bonfire to full on construction work. Also, we did a little shopping trip with Margaux - she knows the best thrift store! We were flexible at our work times and had very chill and fun days off together with them. Margaux cooked the best meals along with her aunt Blandine who lives right around the corner, and almost every night was game night! Good food, good sleep, good work, good company - it was perfect. Thank you so much for hosting me, Margaux and Florient! The time with you and Maisie and Joe was very special to me. Cordialement, Jana xx

Pit and Sarah were a real pleasure to host. During their two weeks on our farm, they showed genuine curiosity and enthusiasm to learn about our way of life here. They were eager to help with all kinds of tasks, and brought great energy to our household. They also looked after our goats while they were here, and spent time playing with our children, which was a huge help and much appreciated. On top of that, their cooking was absolutely amazing! We would gladly welcome them back anytime and can warmly recommend them to any future host.

We had a fantastic time here! Angel, our host, was so chill and really easy to communicate with. He told us what work needed done but between this we still had plenty of time to enjoy the beach and watch the kiters. The school is great, it is well equipped with bathrooms, showers, yoga mats and a kitchen that is right on the beach. The location is in a tranquil part of Progresso but close enough to walk into town. The kiting community were lovely and it was amazing to see all the kiters out on the water every day. We stayed during low season so the place was quite quiet compared to normal but we still loved it. If you are looking for something busy and social this may not be the one (in low season) but if you are looking for a peaceful relaxing escape from the busy Mexican cities you must get yourself to this cabaña paradise! Muchas gracias Angel!

Stefan came over a while ago to my project. He was very diligent in his work. Loved his overall energy, although I never truly connected face to face with him , we had chats online. He merged very well with my house custodian and they worked in team, sharing and supporting each other. Stefan was always kind and willing to give his best work. Explains himself well, strategic in his approach for work and willing to share ideas and explore on his own initiative. He helped build a compost toilet in my house, clean a space and finish the job with flying colours. Nothing but words of praise for this young men. You are always welcome back my friend!! :)

We stayed and worked on this wonderful permaculture farm for a month, and it was everything we were hoping for! It's our dream to live off the land one day, so we wanted to get our hands dirty and learn as much as we can about sustainable farming, and this was the perfect intro to that way of life. Starr, Jeff, and Emma are all incredibly kind people who were also great and passionate teachers. We had so many questions about the systems they had created, and they were more than happy to answer them, which made the experience so valuable to us. We spent our days doing a variety of different tasks. We took care of the garden, harvested fruit and coffee, prepared food for the animals, collected compost made from the sheep poop, and upgraded the dehydrators, among other things. A highlight was making stairs for the new chickens so they could hop down from their pen. So cute!! 😍🐣 We spent most of our time with Starr, and we had so much fun working alongside her and chatting about life. It makes a big difference when you can connect with the folks you work with! We were really delighted by what was provided for us too. We had a cozy cabin to sleep in, super clean bathrooms (with hot water for the shower!), and a lovely dining area next to a fully equipped kitchen for us to make our meals. Basic staples were provided, and we could harvest anything we wanted from the farm. Definitely you’ll need to rely on your own cooking to survive here! But we had so many wonderful meals, often made with ingredients we picked, while looking out at the breathtaking vista and watching beautiful birds fly around. We drove to town once a week to pick up groceries from the farmers market, but besides that, you’re living a very quiet, peaceful life on a mountain. This was our first workaway experience, and we feel like we totally lucked out. If you’re truly looking for a chance to do honest work for great people while learning about sustainable farming, then look no further!

This was my first Workaway experience in Canada, and I stayed for two weeks in March 2024. I shared with two workers and another Workawayer. I helped with clearing leaves and branches in a large forest after the winter, mixing soil, and planting garlic and flowers. Tasks were organized by schedule, and I learned about recycling and organic living. There was so much warmth during the meals, and I loved being introduced to music from different cultures. I also shared the Easter 🐰 celebration with their family. I still remember the smell of coffee in the house every morning and how love was the driving force of their home. Thank you Marlen & Peter, for your review of our experience. I know it also opened the doors for me to stay with new families on the platform.

My time with Claude and Geneviève was delightful. It went by so fast. They are a warm, welcoming, and affable couple. It is clear that they enjoy each other’s company. There was not a day that went by when I didn’t not hear laughter in the house. Claude is jovial, generous, and kindhearted. Geneviève is full of life, curiosity, and enthusiasm. She was quite willing to help me with my French. She is always in high spirits. I was given a such a warm welcome and treated as if I was family. Geneviève is a great cook and each meal was delicious and unique. Despite my poor French, I really felt as though we were able to connect and get to know each other. The work in the garden and in the house was mostly light and never taxing. The nature and scenery in Gondenans-les-Moulins and its surrounding areas are beautiful. I’m glad that I got to experience genuine French hospitality. I had a good time and I’m grateful to have shared these past 2 weeks with them. Merci, Claude et Geneviève! J'ai passé un moment merveilleux avec vous deux. Soyez bénis tous les deux !

We had an amazing time at Penelope and Peter’s place! Our stay was short but truly enriching :) They genuinely care for their animals, and you can see it in the way they treat them. Some of our tasks included feeding and taking care of them, cleaning the areas where the sheep and chickens sleep, and doing a few gardening jobs like weeding and fixing fences. Our days at the farm were calm, enjoyable, and rewarding. Peter is an amazing cook! He always prepared something delicious, new, and interesting for us. Thanks for everything — this was definitely a five-star Workaway experience :)

Sebastian, our first ever Chilian volunteer, came and stayed with us from late September to midst October July 2025, and he did a great job, despite bad, wet weather parts of the time. Among other things, Sebastian helped with the last part of the wine processing, picking grapes. Sebastian is very easy to host, very open-minded, he liked the tranquille village life, the local food and beer. We had a lot of talks regarding culture and music. Our best and sincere recommendations to Sebastian!

She is friendly, reserved, and very professional. We worked together for about one month. She got along with all the other volunteers and participated in activities outside the schedule and place. She finished all tasks assigned on time and with good quality. I highly recommend Olaia to be a part of your team. I hope she comes back soon, because she is leaving good memories and a good impression.
