This was our first workaway experience and we had a great time! Heidi is very intelligent, creative, resourceful, and has many ideas. There are always projects to be done so the work was varied. She is a great teacher and enjoys working alongside you. She is very considerate and wants to find projects suited to your skill set. The work is generally project-based and Heidi is flexible with hours so that sometimes you work more one day and less another - or have it off entirely. The accommodation was great and Heidi is a wonderful cook!! The area of Killcare is beautiful with many beautiful hikes and beaches nearby. We had a car which was really nice for a wider exploring radius. Heidi was happy to show us around and give us recommendations for things to check out. Finally, the cats are incredibly sweet and we will miss Glitch and Turbo!! Thanks again Heidi for a great first workaway experience!

Kristen arrived to the family the absolute busiest weeks of the year when schools (for us all) had just started. She was great help for the family during these super busy days. Unfortunately for this we didn't find enough time to spend together (we had our schedules and Kristen had her planes and interests) and so the cultural exchange grew very little. Soon new travelling plans were executed and Kristen continued her adventures. We found her warm, caring, smily, lovely and confident personality. For host who have lots of time and opportunities to do things together there will be a perfect match undoubtedly<3 Hugs and best of luck with your adventures around the world 🌎

Valentine est une vraie, belle et heureuse rencontre dans notre projet. Toujours souriante, toujours partante, toujours de bonne humeur, elle fait planer autour d'elle une ambiance tellement chaleureuse. Une semaine passée avec Valentine, c'est vraiment (trop) court. On aurait voulu dérouler les semaines et les mois à rigoler autour du feu, à mijoter des bons petits plats et tirer des brouettes de gravats. C'était ton premier workaway, on est à peu près sûrs que ce ne sera pas le dernier, et on espère que tu reviendras rigoler avec toute la tribu ici Chaque habitant de la ferme t'embrasse à sa façon

Jake stayed for a while with our family. His trip was well planned and prepared and he helped us greatly in small and bigger chores. He was polite, sensitive, fun and always ready to help. Also he was independent and enjoyed his own time. We had wonderful communication for long time before his arrival and it was great to hear all the stories about his adventures and travels. We had the honour to celebrate Jake's birthday together prepping big sushi dinner for him. Everyone waited the home made chocolate - but that was left maybe for the next visit or new friends on the way <3 We wish you good and safe travels. We'll remember your warm smile, card game skills and lovely knitted hats and peaceful presence. It's heartwarming how you work the world to be a little bit better where ever you travel. Anouk est une jeune femme joyeuse qui a participé avec curiosité et entrain aux taches de l'été : peinture, repassage, broyeur, souffleur, c'était une belle initiation ! Elle a un talent certain pour les montages vidéos et a concocté un beau souvenir de l'été 2025 à la maison. J'attends avec impatience de le visionner dans sa version finale Anouk :)

Dominique est un amour de gentillesse, paisible et capable de s'entendre avec tout le monde. Pas super à l'aise avec les poules, il s'en est occupé avec application, merci Dominique :) Cuisinier généreux, il est organisé et serviable, joyeux , curieux, ouvert et touche à tout. Il a mis la main à la patte aussi bien en peinture qu'au jardin, transport de palmes et je ne sais quoi d'autre tant il y a eu à faire.

Benoit et Morine ont été un rayon de soleil sur la propriété. Bien que "citadins" comme ils disent, ils n'ont eu peur d'aucun chantier, ont travaillé en s'intéressant à tout et ont apporté une aide précieuse à la remise en état de la maison et de la propriété. C'est un couple calme, joyeux et très respectueux. Ils seront toujours les bienvenus à la maison.

I had a really nice time By Sara and Herman. It's quite something new to be "surrounded" with their two daughters. What I really most liked, was having a kind of freedom what I wanted to cook for the Dinner. The location is something for it and the possibilities are plenty during your of time.

We had an excellent time working with James! This workaway was our first stop in Greece, and it was a stellar experience. The island of Kythera is beautiful, rugged, and remote. The property runs off solar and we helped with installing some additional panels to catch the early morning rays. James is knowledgeable and kind, and we appreciated his good communication leading up to and throughout our stay. James is passionate about the history and culture of Kythera and took us around to see many historical and natural wonders around the island. It was fun to read his books, and we even got to watch one of his films set on the island. We met three other workawayers over the course of our stay and enjoyed the cultural exchange together as a group. The views from the property are stunning, and it was a peaceful place to read and relax when we were done working each day. Our work was clearly outlined, and James gave great instructions on how he wanted tasks and housework completed. Daily tasked included caring for the garden, home and garden improvement projects (seasonal waterproofing, pond maintenance, creating stone footpaths), and tidying up. We took turns cooking meals together and had fun sharing recipes and grocery shopping as a team. We also enjoyed spending time with the pets: Jojo the dog, and Tinker & Belle the little kittens– they are very sweet and cuddly, and are clearly well-loved! We hope we can come visit again next time we are back in Greece :) Thanks again for a great stay! All the best from the road, Sara + Montana

I had a really great time in Torralba with Ana! Ana is very sweet, funny, and I really enjoyed spending time with her. She was always making sure I was comfortable. Ana and her community are gems and I'm so grateful I got to be apart of it! Torralba and Calatayud are very charming with unique history, culture, and grand views. Ana's accommodation is incredibly generous with a whole apartment to oneself. The whole house is super cute and cozy. I enjoyed cooking my own meals with a fully stocked kitchen, and learning traditional Spanish meals with Ana and her son! The work was very easy and fun, and Ana always tried to participate with me which I thought was really sweet; a testiment to her generous and kind demeanor! I felt a little socially isolated being in such a small village, but when I expressed concerns Ana immediately got me involved with her friends. I really enjoyed picking grapes, making paella, and having lunches with Ana and her friends. Ana also invited me to spend time with her sons and family, which was a highlight of my stay! Overall I would really recommend Ana for workaway, I had a really great time.

Elena, stayed with me when I had no one to help with the farm. I felt very lucky that she showed up in the nick of time when another person cancelled. Elena was very driven, organizing her time well, around the place and helping to get lots of stuff done, while she was also looking for a job in the big city. See stayed for about 2 weeks and it was great to have her around and also to show what proper Italian pizza was like. She wound up getting a job at an Italian resto in town, their gain my loss you could say, but things worked out well for her so well done. Grazie mille. Dan

My work away experience with Therese and Rich was everything I expected and more. Beginning with a warm welcome by humans and dogs, to the different experiences I was exposed to, my cup is full of new memories, ideas and beautiful scenery. Work expectations were fair, and communication between us was open. Accomodations were as described and very comfortable. Thank you for sharing your home and your lives with me!

Amazing, wonderful, kind, and beautiful people!! They spent two weeks with us, and during that time they won the hearts of absolutely everyone — the staff, the volunteers, and of course all the dogs)) Thank you for being part of our team. You’re always welcome here, and the doors of our shelter will always be open for you. (If these guys have written to you and want to come help — you’re very lucky! We can truly recommend this place. Work can be hard but rewarding. For us it was kind of a detox from a long time spent behind computer’ screen, so even after three weeks we could tell the difference within our own bodies. The whole family is friendly and tolerant, in case of issues they always offered help. We’ve never seen animals being taken care of with such detail and love. We only wish we could’ve had more time together during the days to connect even more. Overall it’s a great place if you’re looking to be around adorable furry friends and be reconnected with nature :).

Aladin stayed with us for seven weeks, and it was a real pleasure having him here. He’s super helpful, respectful, and easy to talk to. He speaks several languages and even picked up some Turkish during his stay, which really impressed everyone. He fit in quickly, worked hard, and was always ready to do a bit more than asked. Definitely recommend him to any future host!

Don Gianni is a kind and busy person serving his community and people seven days a week, meanwhile he makes sure that all the volunteers are well fed and taken care of. The house followed a fixed schedule in terms of working, dining and resting. In the beginning I was maybe not used to it (for example I needed to transition to a 'morning person') but after I adapted to the schedule and the work I guess I started to like this kind of simple lifestyle, it gave me peace of mind somehow, which might be hard to find in a fast pace society nowadays. The countryside, the historic 'weight' of the town and the people I saw and said 'ciao!' to everyday also made this lifestyle unique and unforgettable. We usually had an half of the day (either morning or afternoon) as free time and 2 days-off for each week. Sometimes we were brought to lunch or dinner with locals, so we met quite a few interesting human beings. Speaking Italian would definitely help you integrate and have a better experience, but even if you don't no need to worry, people would still treat you friendly and make you feel included. Via this experience I feel my inner-self grew up a bit and I learned how to interact with others with respect and without anxiety. I appreciate the stay and care from Don Gianni, and everyone and the town. I hope we will see each other again! Yang, Catania

Stephanie e Eloi sono stati splendidi, molto piacevole averli come workawayers. I miei ragazzi hanno stretto velocemente amicizia con Eloi ed hanno svolto molte attività insieme praticando necessariamente la lingua inglese. Stephanie mi ha molto aiutato in tante faccende di casa e conversare con lei è stato molto interessante, scoprendo molti aspetti della cultura Canadese. Consiglio vivamente Stephanie ed Eloi a tutti coloro che vorranno ospitarla. Stephanie and Eloi were wonderful; it was a pleasure having them as workawayers. My kids quickly became friends with Eloi and enjoyed many activities together, necessarily practicing their English. Stephanie helped me a lot with many household chores, and talking with her was very interesting, revealing many aspects of Canadian culture. I highly recommend Stephanie and Eloi to anyone who wants to host them

Manon was very hospitable and the dogs are sweet and loving, i enjoyed spending time with her and walking around Almere with Bucky, Lily and Luna. It was a perfect place to relax and at the same time enjoy some dynamic action helping in the Garden, cooking, walking with the doggies and doing some renovations. Best Wishes!!

Mi paso por el hostal ha sido una auténtica maravilla. Un sitio mágico para descubrir Chiloé, su cultura, gastronomía, historia y naturaleza. Pero sin ninguna duda lo mejor ha sido el equipo y la sensación de estar en casa desde el primer momento. Después de mis dos semanas aquí solo me arrepiento de no poder quedarme más. Espero volver a vernos pronto!

My time with Jonathan was absolutely wonderful. All of us had such a great time ! we quickly became close and had many fun conversations together. He’s funny, smart, and open-minded , an adventurer with a wide range of interests and experiences, so he gets along well with everyone. He is a true gentleman kind, considerate, and thoughtful. We went out together, and he even cooked delicious meals for us. He helped with many things around the house, was observant, and always offered a hand right away. He kept everything clean, was punctual, and everything went smoothly without me having to say a word. I truly recommend him to every host!
