This was an amazing start for my workaway journey. It was extremely well-managed and organised in a way that everything just flows and encourages you to join in with the rhythm of the place. The sense of community was amazing and the people I have met here left a long, lingering effect on me. My tasks were pretty beginner-friendly and easy: setting up tents, cleaning and gardening. There was plenty of free time to enjoy the place and connect with people. I would definitely consider going back.

Thanks Ludivine and Indra, maybe we'll meet again

Cam and Amanda stayed with me for about a month, and I can honestly say it was such a joy having them here. From the moment they arrived, they brought such warmth, positivity, and care into my home. They were wonderful company—easygoing, kind, and always ready to lend a hand. Even on quieter days, they somehow found little projects or chores that I hadn’t even noticed needed doing. The garden and landscaping looked beautiful under their care, and the house always felt calm, clean, and organized. They’re both amazing in the kitchen, too. The few times they cooked, it felt like a real treat. Cam’s steak was hands-down the best I’ve ever had, and his prawn curry is something I still think about! Every meal they shared was made with such love—it made the house feel even more like home. They also impressed me with their creativity and professionalism. I was helping organize a fundraising event and auction for a local charity, and they jumped right in to help with design work and our social media campaign. Their ideas, talent, and enthusiasm made such a difference, and the event’s success was truly thanks in part to their contributions. Most of all, Cam and Amanda are just wonderful human beings—trustworthy, thoughtful, and full of heart. I always felt completely comfortable leaving my dogs in their care, and they were so gentle and loving with them. One of my pups, who’s usually quite territorial and not very cuddly, took such a shine to Amanda that I couldn’t help but laugh (and maybe get a tiny bit jealous!). I miss these two dearly. They brought so much light, laughter, and love into my home. I wish them the most incredible adventures for the rest of their stay in Canada—and wherever life leads them next. They’ll always have a home here whenever they return.

I spent two amazing weeks at Javier’s place. It’s a peaceful oasis on the Pacific coast, near Santa Catalina. Javier is a wonderful and cheerful person with whom you can talk about anything. I’m really grateful for everything I learned from him about Panama and the United States. He also has two very friendly dogs who were great company. One of the best things was being able to eat as many coconuts as I wanted every day😀 I also got to borrow a kayak and paddle to a nearby island, which I really enjoyed. Thank you so much, Javier, for letting me spend time at your beautiful place.

Noémie stayed one week and made her mark here. Children from the project she participated yet ask for her. She made beautiful artworks helping to compose a scenery, with a fine sense of the purpose. She also helped me to edit a video, very quickly and objective, organizing the scenes, the rhythm and with good eyes for showing what matters and captivates. She has great talents and amazing focus and energy. Not to mention her superb musical talent. Personally it was a pleasure to have her friendly presence these days, with her amazing search for self discoveries and enthusiasm with cultural diversity. She is also a great forró dancer. And I’m waiting to cross the ocean someday with her abilities to sail! She will be for sure a good captain.

Martin and Gianna were wonderful people to have on Workaway. We felt like we knew them like our old friends. They were so polite, helpful and easy going. They were easy to please and easy to deal with. They helped with various chores and they did some painting. They did their jobs accurately and conscientiously. We could trust them and they could be safely left in our home alone without us being present. It was sad to see them leave. So they are most welcome again another time.

Cynthia stayed with us for 10 days, and it was a great pleasure to have her as a guest and helper. She is a positive and enterprising person who quickly sees what needs to be done, and she takes responsibility in a natural and independent way. In addition, she is curious, considerate, tidy and generally a pleasant person to have around the house. Cynthia contributed both practically and socially in a fantastic way, and we already miss her good mood and presence. She has my warmest recommendations to all future hosts! 🌿

Sophie is a very special person. Sweet, gentle, and at the same time deeply grounded and strong. She has a rich inner world, and it shows in the way she moves through life. We were truly happy to have her with us during the olive harvest. She used both the electric olive comb and the manual one with surprising speed and precision, always calm and focused. During work she brought a peaceful atmosphere to the group: no rush, no stress — just care, presence, and attention. She was proactive, flexible, and always ready to help in any situation, never complaining, never pulling back. In daily life she was wonderful: tidy, respectful of shared spaces, attentive to others, and easy to live with. Her presence felt light, warm, and meaningful. Just sitting next to her made everything softer. We’ll hold close the memories of swimming together after long days among the olive trees, our talks with our feet in the water, and the cultural exchange about life in Germany — the similarities, the differences, and the ways we all try to grow and find ourselves. Every conversation with her carried sincerity, depth, and a rare kind of kindness. Sophie is one of those people who does not make noise, but leaves a mark. We truly hope to see her again. She will always have a home with us, a place at our table, and a seat beside us. 💛

Semra & Mahmut were an absolute joy to host! From the moment they arrived, they brought energy, creativity, and a genuine willingness to help with every task. They played a crucial role in preparing my property for the officially commissioned reconstruction of my little house—clearing blacklisted plants, cutting down old, little bushes, and tackling all the work with enthusiasm and care. What truly stood out was their initiative and attention to detail. They didn’t just follow what we planned to do; they observed what else is needed and suggested thoughtful improvements around the house and garden. Their ability to see potential in old things was remarkable—whether it was repairing old furniture to its former glory or revitalizing my long-neglected garden. Their work made a tangible difference, and I’m so grateful for their efforts. Beyond their work, Semra & Mahmut were a pleasure to have around. They were independent and resourceful, exploring Dalmatia on their own during their free time. This made hosting them easy and enjoyable. And let’s not forget the delicious Turkish meal they prepared—it was a wonderful cultural exchange and a highlight of their stay! I have only the fondest memories of their time here and would welcome them back without hesitation. I hope, we will meet again soon, maybe again in Primošten, maybe in Antalya ☺️

Rowen volunteered with us for three weeks and quickly became a valued member of the team. She was always kind, smiling, and ready to assist with any task, from welcoming and helping guests at reception to housekeeping. Despite her young age, she showed great maturity and responsibility. Guests and staff alike adored her sweet nature and positive energy. Her cooking and baking skills were an unexpected added benefit. We highly recommend Rowen to any future host. She brings dedication, positivity, and any team and we would be happy to have her back.

Megan is an incredibly capable, strong, and reliable person. We were truly happy to have her with us for the olive harvest. She adapted from the very first day, never hesitating, always ready to help in any situation. She used the electric olive comb with remarkable ease and skill, as if she had been doing it forever. She worked with attention, precision, energy, and lightness — making everything easier and more enjoyable for everyone. She was in charge in any part of the harvest with a lot of joy and fun! Beyond the work itself, it was wonderful to spend time together: long lunches in the countryside, conversations, laughter, and that beautiful swim after a day among the olive trees… a memory I’ll cherish. We explored small towns nearby, took the train for a little trip, and every moment was simple and genuine. Megan is down-to-earth, respectful, and full of positive energy. She integrated beautifully with everyone and brought a calm and warm presence to the group. In the shared bedroom, she was always tidy and considerate. Being around her just feels good. We are truly grateful to have met and hosted her. We hope to see her again soon. Our home will always be open to her. 💛

Our experience at Malena’s home has been one of our favorite ones, so good to be true!! The family has a lovely vibe, so easy going, calm and joyful. Malena received us with a delicious Mexican dinner 😋 and were flexible since we had to work online. The family provided us with food during our stay, which we appreciated a lot, and recommended us nice places to visit around the town, Merstham is so beautiful and really good located, you can walk from the train station 10-15 min, there are restaurants, supermarkets, etc. We spend a nice week looking after Jake and Kanga while the family was away. Both lovely dogs who enjoyed walks but over all being with you at all moment and give you all their affection 💗 Jake was so funny just doing his Cokapoo things 😂 we’re missing them! Thanks a lot for the experience!! We wish you the best

Volunteering at this Shelter was one of the most beautiful experiences of my life. I am grateful I got to take part in so many activities that deepened my understanding of animal care, teamwork and compassion. Some of my main tasks included socialising with dogs and puppies, taking them on walks (on leash and with wheel support), helping with feeding and grooming, and assisting the vets and staff with their daily routines. I also helped with general shelter upkeep, encouraged visitors to leave Google reviews, and created over 200 videos (including new testimonial clips) for social media. At first, it was tough to see some of the animals recovering from trauma, but watching their healing progress gave me so much hope. I left with a much deeper empathy for stray animal friends and a better understanding of their behaviour. The Animal friends here made me smile more with their unconditional love and unexpected joyful moments. The team was kind and supportive. The Diwali dance celebration was full of joy, and I am thankful to Abhinaya who is very dedicated and caring. Mini, the founder, truly inspired me with her humility and compassion. The surprise cake on my last day was such a touching gesture! Volunteering here was more than just helping out. It was a spiritual journey of learning selfless service. I’d recommend this experience to anyone who wants to make a difference 🐾

Renato volunteered with us at our hostel for seven weeks, assisting in both reception and cleaning. He proved to be highly reliable, flexible and always completing tasks efficiently and with a positive attitude. Renato interacted very well with both guests and other volunteers, helping to maintain a welcoming environment. He has excellent communication skills. Fluent in English and Portuguese, and he could connect with Spanish and French speakers as well. I would wholeheartedly recommend him to any future host. He is responsible, kind, and adaptable, with a calm demeanour. Having him on the team was a real privilege and I would be happy to do so again anytime!

My stay with the family included some new experiences, some of those were good and some of those were disappointing. It was my first time using Workaway and traveling by myself. Therefore I am unsure whether my experiences are disappointing for a reason, but I want to keep this as fair as possible. Therefore, I'll start with the good ones, because there were definitely some. My work was nothing difficult to do, and I had lots of free time almost every day. Sometimes, it felt like Cassandra was not satisfied with what I did, but communication and (mostly) being able to tell me what to improve made working enjoyable! I loved taking care of all the animals and especially the gardening was fun! Additionally, the youngest daughter took me on three very nice trips, which she shouldn't have to, since it's not her hosting me, yet she did. That I really appreciated. If she hadn't done that, I would have been extremely lonely. That is because, for the majority of the month I spent there, I felt unwelcome. I wasn't looked at, I wasn't greeted, and sometimes it felt like Cassandra really didn't like me. That, together with the fact that at one point I wasn't told to attend dinner (I don't need an invitation but as a guest in their house I didn't want to intrude with people who seemingly don't like me. So, in the end, I had four dinners with them even tho I asked to be informed about dinner) made me feel unwelcome and simply like a cheap worker. I am not sure if I really was not liked or if it's just the way they treat their Workawayers but either way, that was not a behavior that made me feel included and I was uncomfortable for a big part. Yes, I was invited to Thanksgiving, and a Halloween party, but I would have appreciated some communication and inclusion that genuinely made me feel like I was welcome and not only simply tolerated! I didn't even get a proper "goodbye" (only from one daughter. She gave me a ride to the airport) and that has been stuck with me. I am very well aware that it might just have been my expectations that were too high (I chose this farm specifically because they felt so fun and like they were looking forward to getting to know me on a personal level - which they didn't), but nonetheless I am disappointed. I am still thankful for them having me and I think that communication was lacking a lot and that this whole situation could be based off of misunderstandings (and perhaps I could have done more, but I didn't want to annoy them by always being there). But still, it's not only my job as a Workawayer to approach the family and join all their family time, because in the beginning, I tried very hard to have a good relationship with them, and it felt like I was the only one making an effort (excluding the younger daughter and the older daughter who in some evenings did take a minute to have a short conversation with me) but that doesn't make up for how ignored I felt for a big part. I am sorry for not having communicated that with you, but please take this as constructive criticism and make sure to be nicer to your workawayers because taking from the reviews you can be different, and I don't believe it's only my fault that my experience doesn't resemble those of others.

We had a wonderful experience staying here 🙂 We were there for the whole month of September, teaching Yoga classes for the guests. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay and a great way to start our Sri Lanka journey. After a few days, we already felt at home! 🏝️ Mahalia was always available and gave clear instructions to us. This is also a great place for remote workers. We would definitely recommend this workaway to everyone who's a Yoga teacher 🙏🏼🌊☀️ Thank you for this great opportunity!
