I had an absolutely lovely time in Mattsee! I was immediately and warmly welcomed into the family, and my 4 weeks here flew by. The work was reasonable and flexible, and I thoroughly enjoyed getting to cook for everyone as much as I did! Mattsee is a beautiful location to be in - I went and did a lot of cold plunges in the lake as it got colder, and there are some nice, short walks/hikes in the area. Getting to and from Salzburg for some day trips was also easy - although I also had a lot of fun hanging out at home with Lukas, Sarah, and the kids. It was a joy to be a part of their daily life, and I was truly struck by how caring and generous they were.

Oh, My! How to sum everything up?: The best Workaway experience by far! I spent almost 4 months there, but I'd have stayed longer if I could! I arrived there by chance, and I sincerely had a wonderful time there. I fell in love with the place, with the people, the culture and the language. Dani and Ralph are amazing hosts, they're really friendly, cool, very kind and respectful. The working staff at the campsite are really nice, funny and friendly, too! I think that in this position you really get to exchange and share cultures with eachother (with the local people and with other Workawayers, too). We went altogether to festivals, dinning outside, and many times to play darts at the local bar in Vockenhausen. In my case, I arrived there without even knowing how to say "Hallo" (literally), but I ended up learning basic German communication skills while I worked at the Bar. They asked me in first place in which kind of works I'd like to do so, I tried almost everything until I found my place at the bar and cleaning during the morning shifts, but obviously when there was something else to do in other areas (such as gardening, helping at the reception or even housekeeping, etc.) I tried to be always available to do that, too. I liked the work because it was well organized. We used an app, so I could keep track on what to do, when and how much time and money was that. In the free times, I used to go by train to Frankfurt, or maybe doing longer trips elsewhere, maybe a small walk in the woods (which are amazingly beautiful) or just staying at home relaxing, which was totally possible because everyone had their own privacy in the shared flat. I'd really love to go back there next year because it was a wonderful experience. I sincerely felt at home and I already miss you all! Jeanne from France was an outstanding volunteer during her three week stay with us. Her genuine interest in our culture and olive cultivation sparked so many inspiring talks and made her time here even more special. She handled every task thrown her way with excellence, always proactive and ready to dive in. With her good character and positive vibe, she was a true joy to have around and a perfect fit for the team. As your first review, Jeanne, you nailed it, keep shining! Thanks for everything. we'll miss you, and you are welcome back in spring! :)

My boyfriend and I had such a great time at this workaway. Siri was so kind and generous and made us feel at home immediately. The children were so sweet and we had lots of materials to get creative and have fun in the classroom. Would highly recommend especially if you want a break from the hustle of the cities and backpacking life! I Hope we will cross paths again some day. Thanks again for everything, Chloe and Andy.

It was one of the best hostels I've worked at! I stayed for the all season, 4 months, and I felt like home. The atmosphere that Tim has created is very welcoming and warm. I learned a lot working with him. He’s such a nice guy, always here when you need, and with a lot of travel stories to share! Regarding the work, I was sharing my time between cleaning and reception (welcoming, guiding and advising travelers). You meet sooo many people when you’re there. Some guests become friends. And I was going on spontaneous adventures and hikes sometimes. So cool! I had plenty of time to enjoy the summer in Ljubljana (the best european capital I’ve been to), learn a bit of sloven language and discover some parts of Slovenia like the seaside, the lakes and more. Everything is so close that you can even go to Italy or Croatia for a day or two. One of my best workaway experience, I can only recommend it! If I could, I would definitely come back again ! Dear Eleda, thank you so much that you were there when I was’t. I just heard beautiful stories about you. You helped wherever was needed, and found your way around although the language barrier with Galip, but that was great because now he had no choise then practice his English 😁Yes luckily Sara was there to inform you, but still you were in your OWN looking after the dogs, cats, house. courtyards. It was a blast working with Emily & Ashleigh. Both are very kind people. Always doing the job very professional, always proactive and handling everything with a smile. Quick learner and always interested in progressing. All of us enjoyed our time very much. Thank you guys for all your help and good luck with everything.

Bridget is an exceptional worker and houseguest, and she is very fun to be with. She helped to finish the winterizing of my boats, and did a great amount of tool moving and space organizing . She gladly did everything that was asked of her, and did all tasks exceptionally well. It was a bonus to me that she fell in love with this area and could not get enough of it, even on rainy days. She is active, a great hiker and runner, and she greatly explored this beautiful area. I highly recommend her.

Finn even the young of his age he did hard job and very good. Sure is a person that does not afraid the work and the challenges. Very clean nit and one of the the cleanest person that has passed. Excellent i wish you all the best and meet again soon

Great experience with Graham and his wife on Lamb Island! Tasks were easy and varied — mostly helping with boat repairs and gardening. They’re kind, active hosts and made me feel very welcome. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys nature and a quiet waterfront place.

Tulli was a very straight forward kind person with responsibility to for the job as good she could do. Very nice personality to have good time with her. Nice conversations. I recommend it highly.

Wendy spent three weeks with us and was such a big help during the time she stayed here. She is an open, warm-hearted person who independently sees where her help is needed. Our children loved playing backgammon and other games with her. She is a great cook and leaves everything very tidy. It was a great pleasure to have her stay with us, and we would recommend her as a Worakway anytime.

I spent a month (July 2025) at the ranch and I had a great time there. Sandra, Kiana and Talina are easy to talk to, they explained me well my tasks and taught me a lot about horses and how to take care of them. We had good talks about many interesting topics. Working with the horses was wonderful and I really enjoyed it. The dogs are amazing and really friendly (they love being cuddled and as they are numerous it is sometimes a challenge to cuddle them all together). If you want to work with horses, it is a good place to stay. Nevertheless, it is important for you to know that it is hard physical work with a lot of hours, and that the ranch is isolated (about 20 min by car from the nearest town, but this may change as Sandra and the girls are about to move to their own piece of land). Also, it is better if you speak some Spanish and German, as they are the main langages spoken at the ranch. Thanks a lot Sandra, Kiana and Talina for the good time I spent with you, the horses and the dogs!

Este Workaway fue mucho más que un voluntariado, pasar un mes y poco más con con Pipi y Niño fue inolvidable, los paseos por la playa, los atardeceres y los momentos en casa.. se han ganado nuestro corazón desde el primer momento, y los echaremos de menos siempre.. (unos días después y aún nos cuesta la partida) Ursula es una persona maravillosa, son de esas personas que da gusto conocer, siempre positiva, buenos tratos, amable, cercana, y muy nutritiva, el tiempo compartido con ellos se ha quedado en nuestras memorias y corazones.. Lo vivido y compartido lo agradecemos sin límites, es una familia inolvidable y que siempre tendrán lugar en nuestros corazones 🧡! I had the fortune to spend 6 weeks at Kerry and Martin's house in Les Landes back this spring. They made me feel very at home from the moment I arrived with a delicious dinner and very comfortable accommodation. We had great chats, lovely meals and fun work time together. Both Kerry and Martin are really interesting people to talk to. We arranged for me to house sit for them during 3 weeks, and the remaining time we shared some of the tasks of the property. The work was varied and they both go the extra mile for you to choose the tasks that you enjoy the most, being super flexible and adaptable. My time there sadly involved a physical lower back crisis that did not allow me to perform as I wished, and Kerry and Martin could not have been more understanding. I am in awe of them for how they helped and supported me during this time. I want to thank them publicly for their compassionate ways, to host me and trust me with their beloved home and garden and to surround me with good company. Do not hesitate for a minute to give them a hand, you will not regret it. Thank you again Kerry & Martin, With affectionate regards

Panna was an absolutely wonderful volunteer at our hostel! From day one, she brought great energy, initiative, and a positive attitude that made a real difference. She was deeply involved in improving our guest experience — helping with reception tasks, organizing fun social activities, and creating a friendly, welcoming atmosphere for everyone. Her communication with both guests and the team was excellent, and she always went the extra mile to make sure things ran smoothly. Panna quickly became part of our hostel family — responsible, creative, and full of good vibes. We truly appreciate her effort and contribution during her stay and would happily welcome her back anytime. Any host would be lucky to have her! 💫

Mario welcomed us very well, and was very generous with us. He is such a strong character, saying truly what he thinks. It was not always easy to know how to help him the way he imagined but was never much demanding . We are really thankful that we could install our yurt in his garden and meet some of his friends. We wish Mario the best in all his future creations and we will remember him forever :-)

We stayed for 2 months over summer (mid July-mid Sept) and it was the perfect place to be during the summer heat (having the river so close was such a luxury!) Amanda and Zack are so welcoming and kind, and we instantly felt comfortable. The guesthouse checkout changeovers flow easily once you've done them a couple of times and Zack and Amanda were always on hand to help if needed. August was the busiest month for changeovers at the guesthouse, but we still had time in between for exploring and relaxing. We really appreciated having our own space, it's a great place to slow down because of that and the beautiful scenery (great swimming holes and hikes), but we equally enjoyed spending time all together, trips out with the family (Mina and Aila are sweeties and will give you a good laugh) and fun evenings spent together too. There was a good balance between work, time altogether and time to ourselves. We were grateful for access and trust with the kei truck, which gave us the freedom to explore the surrounding areas. If you are willing to slow down, spend time in nature and enjoy being independent and proactive, this is perfect for you. The town itself is quite quiet, but there are always groups of outdoors-y, similar-minded people nearby with the local water activity companies. It's definitely a place where the more you put in, the more you will get out of it! We loved our summer here so much and are so grateful for the time we spent together. Thank you to Amanda and Zack <3
