I had the most incredible time volunteering with Shegu in Salaverry! From the moment we met him, he was so kind, helpful, and welcoming. He even picked us up from Trujillo and brought us to Salaverry himself. The place we stayed had such an amazing beach vibe and a real sense of community. The work was incredibly meaningful. Some days we taught English to the kids, and on other days we helped out with sandboarding and surfing lessons. I had never done either before, but thanks to Shegu (and all the boards he keeps at the house!), I got to learn and practice during my free time. Everyone in Salaverry was so friendly and welcoming. People always say hello, and you really feel like part of the community. The accommodations were great, the breakfast was super yummy (huge shoutout to Chef Shegu!), and the overall experience was beyond anything I expected. It’s a truly local, authentic, and meaningful opportunity—exactly what I hoped for from my time in Peru. I couldn’t recommend it enough!

I stayed with Giulia and her lovely family in Massa for two weeks, and was warmly welcomed as soon as I arrived—even though my request was very last minute. Giulia made everything easy and always checked to see that I was comfortable, and also helped me get to nearby cities to explore during my stay. I truly enjoyed experiencing everyday Italian family life, sharing English and swapping ideas with everyone in the house. Babysitting Violante was both fun and sweet; even though my Italian is limited and we sometimes had to get creative with communication, there was lots of laughter and patience. Grazia, Giulia, for your kindness, beautiful food, and the sense of home you gave me. My time with your family was meaningful and memorable. I would recommend this experience to anyone wanting genuine warmth and cultural exchange.

During my stay here I was so happy to be surrounded by the culture and adventure that surrounds Huaraz. You can feel the excitement in the air from all the different treks and climbs to do do throughout the Andes. Mila was an amazing host and I would love to come back and continue to work with Andean Summit. It was an amazing opportunity for me to grow as both a guide and volunteer.

My time here exceeded my expectations and was exactly what I needed. Diego is a wonderful host who cares deeply about his projects and animals, and the work helping around the property and with the horses and animals was very fulfilling for me. Work consisted of about 3-4 hours a day working on a variety of projects around the property, and we had an opportunity to ride the horses everyday. Diego was very helpful with regards to finding transportation to and from the place, and we even spent a day running errands together in the city of Sogamoso. The closest shop to buy any goods in toquilla is most easily accessible by horseback so that is a really fun and exciting experience. I highly recommend this experience for anyone interested in spending close time with sheep, dogs, cats, and horses, and wants to live in an extremely peaceful and beautiful environment. Expectations for cleaning common and personal spaces are fairly high, but that's a cultural standard in Colombian households. The community we had at the time I went was really incredible and we all became very close friends. I'm really looking forward to returning soon!

She arrived with precious handmade gifts from her home country! I can highly recommend Merve. She stayed with us for 2 months and in that time she was extremely respectful, gentle and kind. She is very easy to live with and ready to help and get involved. She cooked incredible Turkish food, taught our children a bit of Turkish language, and even made us Turkish coffee! She showed real initiative too, finding two volunteer jobs - with the Salvation army and a local museum, and taking herself off to English conversation classes. We were very impressed. We wish her all the best with her continued adventures and are happy to be a reference.

We very much enjoyed having Steven with us. For a month, he stayed at our surf lodge, which was closed for the majority of his stay. He had minimal content available to him, being the off-season for surfing, but he still created great reels and photos for our social media. We can imagine what he would have been able to accomplish with everything running in full swing! He is really great at what he does, and you can tell that he takes pride in being current with social media practices. We would welcome Steven back in the future and wish him all the best! Recommended for any host.

Margaux and Emile were great! They were responsible for managing our social media and helping with entertaining guests. While we didn't get a lot of time with the two of them, they were very eager to join us and help out at the last minute. We are very appreciative of them and their work. They are two of the kindest people I have met. They work very well together, and we think they would make a wonderful addition to any team.

Willie was a wonderful addition to our team, and we highly recommend him to any host. Willie was responsible for managing our social media and helping with entertaining guests. He was quickly liked by everyone on our team, our guests, and the community. He is very talented with great ideas that brought a good amount of engagement among our followers, as well as bringing many new followers to connect with our business's social platforms. We would welcome Willie back in the future, and we know that his future hosts will not be disappointed.

It was wonderful to meet Bee and Soy during our stay in Mongolia. We also had the chance to meet Bee's brother and a lot of members of the community, which made the experience feel even more like family. During our time with them, we helped build a community Ger and met other amazing people along the way. It’s incredible how just two days led to so many great connections and memories! We lived with them in our first weekend out of four weeks in Mongolia, but thanks to them we were able to connect with Mongolian culture right from the beginning. We’re very grateful for their kindness and guidance. Highly recommended!

If Alvic applies to help you out on your project say yes straight away! He is extremely easy to have around and a delight to chat to and hang out with. He is extremely hard working and the best thing is knows his away around a workshop and how to use tools! He has helped us finish projects in record time and not only follows direction really well but also can chip in with other ideas! I was really chuffed when as well as knowing how to use all the tools he even cleaned everything away as he finished for the day without being asked! - He is a little gem of a guy and would highly recommend him for any project! Wish he could have stayed longer!!

I give my warmest recommendations to Chelo as a host! This was my first Workaway experience, and it couldn’t have been better. Chelo is generous, easy-going, and kind. She made me feel at home, introduced me to her friends, and gave me a real taste of Italian culture, food, and life in Ariccia☀️ She was thoughtful about my vegetarian diet and cooked amazing Italian meals for me! Even though we sometimes had small language barriers, we always found a way to understand each other — and that made the cultural exchange even more special🫶

Yun stayed at my place and took care of my dog and cats for a little over a month. He sent lots of updates of my babies and took really good care of them. He is extremely trustworthy and I would definitely have him back at my home :)).

I learned so much in my short time in Igriés and I'm very grateful to Nacho and all the team for the experience! I visited so many cool places, played a lot of music, but most importantly had a really great time teaching the lovely students. The experience of course came with its ups and downs (mostly in terms of communication) but I view all of it as helpful for my personal development. I have made friends for life in Aragón and look forward to coming back. Thanks so much guys, I'll miss you a lot <3

My two weeks with Damien and Evelyn will be something I treasure for the rest of my life. Their home is absolutely beautiful, and the large surrounding gardens that back onto the Loire River are something from a fairytale. I was warmly welcomed from day one and left feeling genuinely a part of the family. Every meal was thoughtfully prepared with locally sourced (mainly from the garden) ingredients and every meal time was a social activity, swapping stories and learning of their many travel adventures. My room was very peaceful complete with a toilet and sink, as well as a seperate shower room. The work days were long and the work itself quite psyical (definitely not for the faint hearted) but it was very rewarding seeing the changes I was able to make to the garden. Instructions given were clear and they were there to support me when needed. The area around Durtal and the town it's self is lovely, their property is directly across from a large castle which you can tour. I was able to take a bike ride to surrounding villages with a picnic packed by Evelyn and it was a lovely afternoon. I cannot wait to see them again and will definitely be returning in the near future. Thanks again for everything guys xoxo

We had a delightful workaway experience with Marjo and Vincent. They are totally authentic and comfortable to be around, and seamlessly integrated themselves into the routines of the farm. They took all of their tasks to heart from carpentry to chicken care to pitching manure and are highly capable, conscientious, and self-directed in their work. The siding and trim they put on our cabin looks amazing and professional. They offered help without us needing to ask, especially around meal time. They bring a beautiful energy with their company, and have a unique and fun perspective on life. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with them, including insightful conversations, games, and yoga poses. Experiences like this are why we got involved with workaway -- we really appreciated our time with Marjo and Vincent!

We had an amazing experience here! We volunteered for 3 weeks and we would definitely recommend. The hostel was very cosy, clean and super welcoming. The work mainly involved checking guests in and out, answering queries from guests as well as booking tours and shuttles. We were both able to practice our Spanish here with an amazing teacher, Gilma. If you want to learn and practice your Spanish, here is the place to be! Xela is a lovely place, it has so much to offer in the city, including delicious food, a fun night life, busy markets and the most friendly people. Not only this but there are amazing hikes to do around the city which I would definitely try out if you want to delve into nature! Javier was the best host, we couldn't have asked for a more friendly and helpful host. He was able to show us what the work involved and was able to answer any questions we had! The rest of the team were equally as great, thank you Irma and Luz! Thank you so much for this experience and we miss you all so much!
