Karen and Andrew have been wonderful hosts to me. They both have a mind blowing positive energy and shared so much about farm life and all their skills and passions. They were welcoming, encouraging and kind, and did everything they could for me to feel comfortable. Their home is a great place to stay busy with animal routine and yard maintenance. But not only, there are wonderful walks to have around Stamp River and several places to have a peaceful time on their property. I appreciated that all the tasks were built up along the days. Karen and Andrew make sure you do what you are good at and enjoy your time. We built a door for the barn together, did some clearing up, gardening, and I could also arrange my timetable with sewing and carding wool. I had the best time discovering the most beautiful forests and wildlife in my free time. We surely created a pretty good bond, sharing lovely evenings around the fire place outside, good chats and delicious meals with fresh food from the farm. Thanks to you both so much for this beautiful time we spent together ! I very much hope to see you soon !

Valentina stayed one week at home. She is friendly and very helpful with the tasks (tidying up the lava field, moving elements around, filling bottles of water and watering the plants, collecting seeds, installing internet, maintenance of the locker, etc. Valentina joined me and my friends in going to a concert in a local festival and playing board games. She also prepared a delicious pasta for the last dinner, that we enjoyed all together with Thea as well. Many thanks Valentina!

Thea stayed one week at home. She is friendly and very helpful with the tasks (tidying up the lava field, moving elements around, filling bottles of water and watering the plants, collecting seeds, installing internet, maintenance of the locker, etc. We socialize mainly during the tasks on the lava field as a team and she is a good person to chat with. Chantelle and her family are the most loving kind and fantastic family I have ever met. Their kindness and generosity was incredible, the horses are very sweet and the tasks are very enjoyable. I couldn't recommend this family enough I was very sad to leave as they felt like my family. I will be back for sure hopefully sooner than later!!

I first came here in August 2023, it was my first time in Ireland and I was planning to stay for about 2 months. I had such a warm welcoming from the family that I’ve returned for 2 more seasons. The owners Brian and Brigid along with their daughters Nancy and Rachel will make you feel comfortable and safe from the moment you arrive and if you have a problem, if you need anything don’t hesitate to ask. They will listen and help. But the family is so much bigger, the staff working there are truly amazing people and easy to get along with. You will work hard, specially during the hectic summer months but you will be part of a strong close-knit team. Andrew, Betty, Alice, Maryanne along with high school and college students and your fellow workawayers will make this a special place to enjoy and learn about Ireland and the Irish. Now about Graiguenamanagh, that’s another bit of the magic spell, this beautiful small town will be the right place for you if you enjoy the song of the birds, the river flowing waters and the view to the iconic Brandon Hill. There is a lot for you to do outdoors, water sports are big here and you can also cycle along the river barrow away from cars and traffic. It’s like a small town should be, occasionally lively but peaceful and quiet for the most part. Here you will have everything you need from groceries, post office, library, health center, bus to Kilkenny and Carlow, a few pubs ( 2 of them really good) where you can even enjoy live music and traditional music sessions. Last but not less important, the friendly locals that will welcome you with smiles and curiosity. They’re all so lovely that will make your stay so much easier and enjoyable. I stayed with Mathias for a little more than two weeks between October and November and as a first Workaway experience has been amazing! He is a very kind and available person, the communication with him is clear and there hasn't been any problem whatsoever. Regarding the tasks, we've been maintaining the botanical garden through easy and fun tasks: removing parasites, watering plants and building an elevated box with pallets so now there are specific places where to germinate plants before planting them in their final spot. Mathias is very passionate about botanics and has a deep knowledge of the botanical history of the Canary Islands, and specifically of Lanzarote, so don't hesitate about asking him any question, he's gonna answer happily to all of them. The place Mathias is gonna offer you is very nice, there are some very easy rules to follow but beside that you can just enjoy the volunteering and visiting the island. I'd always stay there if it was possible. Thanks Mathias! :)

Anne was an incredible host! We learned so much, not only about the job, but about the city and French culture. She prepared cultural dishes for us and showed us historic and scenic places. This is a wonderful job with a wonderful person! We recommend this place as there is a lot to see when you are not working.

Estuve 15 días viviendo en el velero con Thomas, una experiencia increíble. Vivir en un bote es algo único: desde dormir acunada por las olas hasta aprender a manejar los recursos y estar atenta a los cambios del tiempo. Thomas es una persona muy tranquila, creativa y con mucha experiencia, siempre dispuesto a enseñar. Las tareas pueden variar según los proyectos en los que esté trabajando. En mi caso, además de cocinar y mantener los espacios, ayudé a desenredar cabos y anclas a 12 metros de profundidad, y también colaboré en unas modificaciones que estaba haciendo en un kayak. Compartimos buenas charlas y la convivencia fue muy amena. Sin dudas volvería! ///////// I spent 15 days living on the sailboat with Thomas — an incredible experience. Life on a boat is truly unique: from sleeping rocked by the waves to learning how to manage resources and stay aware of the changing weather. Thomas is a calm, creative person with a lot of experience and always willing to share his knowledge. The tasks may vary depending on the projects he’s working on. In my case, besides cooking and keeping the space tidy, I helped untangle ropes and anchors at 12 meters deep and assisted with some modifications he was making on a kayak. We had great conversations and an easygoing coexistence. I’d definitely be happy to lend him a hand again.

Fabian estuvo con nosotros durante dos semanas y realmente fue una experiencia excelente. Siempre mostró una muy buena actitud, respeto y disposición para ayudar en todo lo que fuera necesario. Es una persona multitareas, capaz de adaptarse rápidamente al entorno y a las dinámicas del lugar. Trabajó con responsabilidad, aprendió rápido y se integró muy bien con el equipo y los huéspedes. It was very nice having Paula with us, she helped with the horses. And help me taking down and building fences and doing some painting. Paula worked independently and is very reliable. I would be very happy to host her again.

WOW I just got home after spending a week with Jingkyung and I am still glowing from the experience! The work was very fulfilling for me, as all of it was in support of her traditional style home, inside and out. I learned how to make Korean pickled peppers and fried fish, and outside worked on a stone stacked wall in the traditional style, and did some gardening and prep for the winter. The simplicity of the smells and sights around her home are probably my favorite memories of the trip. Outside of her her cozy home (and adorable dog Kali), she excitedly took myself and the other workawayers on excursions, sometimes overnight, to see more of the country and meet her friends, artists and otherwise. This is why it's more like visiting an old friend than a transactional work exchange. She's very knowledgeable and passionate regarding Korean traditions and history, and has an extensive library, which was something important to me as a half Korean trying to learn more about my culture.She's a wonderful person to know if you're a Korean adoptee or someone like me with Korean heritage who feels disconnected after not growing up there. If there's a topic you want to know more about and she somehow doesn't know about it, she'll absolutely find the person for you to meet to learn more--weather it be Korean shamanism, carving Korean traditional statues, the best handmade paintbrushes in the world--literally anything. Jinkyung helped me come home to myself through coming home to the motherland--thank you so much.

Brooks and Dylan came to help me with various renovation tasks in an old house. They are both enthusiastic, autonomous, courageous, and resourceful. They are also careful, attentive, and quick to learn new things. What's more, they are interesting people. I had a great week with them. Welcome them in turn, they richly deserve it, and perhaps you too deserve to be supported in your projects by people of quality! Anne

I had an extraordinary and unique experience with Neri and his uncle Dory! They really helped me appreciate Albania! They can recommend some great hikes. I received a perfect welcome, and the bedding, food, and communication were impeccable! And if you're interested in learning how to milk goats and cows, this is the place to go! You'll have the opportunity to take care of sheep, cows, and chickens in the mountains. And why not even build some small outdoor structures to welcome visitors?! Welcome to the world of these two kind-hearted people who are able to show you so much! I highly recommend them!

Jiri was an absolute pleasure to host! He is polite, calm, smart, respectful and has a wonderful sense of humor! Everything he puts his hands on turns out great — he’s skilled, motivated, strong, and always sees each task through to the end. We were truly impressed by his attitude and abilities, and so grateful for all his help. It was a real joy to have him with us, and we can wholeheartedly recommend him to any future host. Having Erika here with us these past two weeks has been an absolute joy. From the very first day, she brought so much positivity, energy, and laughter into our home. She’s always in a good mood, full of humor and warmth, and instantly became part of our family. Erika is incredibly proactive — she notices things that need to be done and takes care of them even before I have to ask. She’s been a huge help in every possible way, and her initiative and reliability made everything run so smoothly. But what truly touched my heart the most is how amazing she’s been with the kids. They completely fell in love with her! She has such a natural connection with them, full of patience, kindness, and fun. We’re already planning for her to come back, and I couldn’t be happier about it. Erika will always have a place in our home and in our hearts. 💕 I highly, highly recommend her to any host, you’ll be lucky to have her!

Mayan was an excellent and diligent worker with artistic, gardening, cooking and needlework skills which were a great contribution. We also learnt a lot of fascinating things anout the New South Africa. Very empathetic and kind with our dog and cats

Alicia is an impressive young woman! We rarely host workawayers under 20, but in her case we made an exception — and we’re so glad we did! We had a wonderful time with Alicia. She’s polite, funny, hardworking, learns quickly, comes up with great ideas, and is simply a lovely person to have around. We were amazed by the amount of experience she’s already gathered at such a young age — from living with host families to abroad adventures and working gigs. You can really tell she’s traveled and lived with different families before; she adapts easily and fits right in. We’d be happy to welcome her back anytime!

We volunteer as spanish teachers in Kelaa Sraghna between 01/10/2025 and 26/10/2025. This was one of the most rewarding experiences of our lifes, not only because It was our first workaway, also we felt warmly welcomed by the local community, specially by Hassan (the coordinator who guided us during the stay). The experience was not only educational, also we learned amazigh and morrocan culture and language from the locals and italian and german from other volunteers while we were sharing our spanish customs. Hassan introduced us into the morrocan daily life, from local markets to interesting conversations about history and customs, including visits to a nearby festival and local monuments. The spanish classes were very easy going: the students had very different levels (from absolute beginners to being able to have a full conversation in spanish) so the classes had to be adapt to that. In any case, the oficial spanish teacher Noureddine was a very educated and professional man and gave us help to prepare and organize some of the classes. This experiences has enriched us both in a personal and profesional level. We left Kelaa with unforgettable memories and a heart full of gratitude. We can't not to mention great people and friends that we made during that month, from the workers and students: Abderrahim (the other volunteering protect's coordinator), Yassamine, Rachid, Hassan (the student), Yassine, Ayoub and Abdelmoula to other volunteers: Jacopo, Malte and Martje. We would recommend this volunteer program to anyone seeking meaningful cultural inmersion and language teaching. We hope to come back very soon!
