Jiaqi was very kind, friendly and independent. She always offer me an umbrella when it's raining. From the beginning she was very friendly. As she speaks perfect Japanese, it's much easier for all of my friends to enjoy talking with her. This time we had a very tight schedule. Next time I hope we have more time to talk.

Top top top volunteer. Highly skilled, a good eye and an admirable humility. I thoroughly enjoyed having Helene present. Always alert, always attentive. In her time here she started and completed three carpentry jobs perfectly.

We spent almost a month here. And the time we spent here was truly wonderful. Malsor and Avni are such good people. They helped us with everything. The work at the hotel was very easy. It finished early, leaving us with most of the day to ourselves. We felt like part of the family here. We sat together, chatting and eating meals. If we ever come back to Kosovo, we would definitely like to visit again 🫶🏼😊

Lionel is mastering his work around his house very well. The garden has an amazing view over the Provence region and Fayence is one of the perched villages around the area. In the time spent there, I enjoyed a theater play, learning to play petanque, dancing traditional french dances, going to the sea, thanks to Lionel. Thank you for sharing your home.

We had the great fortune of hosting Emma and Kiki for three weeks. Fall time is a busy time here on the homestead and having the extra hands was such a great help. With freezing temperatures fast approaching these girls were happy to pitch in, sometimes working a bit of a longer day, in order to get all the garden harvest in and protected from the looming frost. I enjoyed both girls company tremendously, both are always ready to giggle and be silly. I'll never forget our time gathering leaves, I don't think I stopped laughing for hours. During their visit they both had time in the kitchen to chef it up by creating some delicious treats...Emma and her pies...oh my, she's a natural and let us not forget her incredible Vodka pasta....so yummy. Kiki held her own too by whipping up the most massive batch of oatmeal cookies ever that somehow disappeared within only a couple of days. Both were helpful, always offering a hand, and with clean up too which made cooking for a group so much easier. I have to say that at the onset I was worried that these guests, being sisters, that we might encounter the usual sibling bickering and was a little unsure of how that energy would be but these girls are not just sisters, they are bosom buddies that care for each other in the most gentle and supportive ways imaginable. Although I am certain at times they were naturally annoyed by one another it was never apparent and never once affected the mood in the house. If you get approached by this duo know easily that they are a great team. The three weeks flew by and when the girls left I have to say that I was sad to see them go. The trill of Emmas laughter still rings in our cabin and, hanging on my fridge, is a beautiful sketch that the very talented Kiki drew for me as a souvenir. Thanks for all the wonderful memories Emerald and Kiki and best of luck in all your adventures to come. Jess.

This experience was a quiet enchanted getaway from the turistic french riviera, into the autenthic french countryside. Kerry and Phillipe are a great couple, relaxed and friendly with the people around. They beautifully restored an old house with a land that Kerry is working at transforming it into a garden with vegetables, aromatic plants, fruit trees, flowers. I learned some things about gardening and design in the week I stayed with them. Thank you Keep in touch

This mother daughter team were exceptional... they integrated into the work experience and created a community/family environment for all of us - myself and other WA guests. Could not have asked for a more pleasant experience. Both Miriam and Tiffany learned serious on-the-job skills and put them into action. We built cabins (more to do!) and kept the Red Door business running smoothly...including deckhand on fishing charters and the lodge laundromat. I am inviting them back for a third enchanting season...

Our stay with Mary was a home away from home, her warm and kind nature made us feel truly welcome and at ease as soon as we arrived. Our initial two week stay quickly turned into one month. The work was fair and flexible, being given a range of tasks that we could work flexibly on which also kept things interesting. Mary was always incredibly grateful and appreciative which made us feel really valued. It was great to have the ability to do our own thing and also spend time with Mary - we really enjoyed having meals together and learning to play Quiddler. Mary is incredibly kind and thoughtful - always sharing ideas and tips for how we could get settled into our new life in Canada and inviting us to gatherings with her friends. You best be prepared to fall in love with the dogs - they are always looking for a pat and are an absolute joy to be around. We are so grateful for the time we had together, we consider Mary a great friend and can’t wait to visit again.

It was a really lovely 3 weeks with Diego at this place! We had a good rhythm, with morning stretches, breakfast, working, having a class, and then lunch together. As well as cooking shifts with the volunteers where we could learn how to make a fire and cook healthy food together. I enjoyed the work - it consisted of gardening, bioconstruction, and helping on the property with cleaning. It was nice to have a group that arrived together and left together, we all got to know each other well and had a comfortable feeling with each other! Friday pizza nights with yuka in the oven were also fun ways to celebrate the week ending together. When we arrived, there were 4 beautiful kittens and we saw them grow, it felt very special. In the free time you could go to the waterfall, the viewpoint, and we shared classes with each other (fitness, yoga, and cheerleading), and watched documentaries about permaculture. I left feeling inspired to experiment, create, and do! Best feeling :) Thanks Diego, Yuka, Majambo and kittens!

Sam, he has made positive impact in our community. From the moment we met, it was clear that he had a warm and friendly personality. His teaching style is truly remarkable. He managed to create a fun and engaging learning environment, which motivates the children to participate actively in every session. His enthusiasm was infectious, and it was clear that he was passionate about working with children. he didn't only teach, but also inspired them. He like playing football, and my son absolutely enjoyed joining him for football. It was wonderful We went to see the sunrise together,we went to the tempe factory to see ho to make tempes. Overall, I am very grateful for his dedication, warmth, and the valuable contribution Hopefully we can meet again in the future. Best regards Gati

I had a truly incredible first workaway with Elena and Gian Marco. Everyday I was surprised by their kindness, generosity, and humor which shines in all aspects of their lives. My (almost a) month flew by quickly with most of my time being spent harvesting olives. It was hard and rewarding work and I got to learn so much about olive oil production. I was fed some amazing Italian food by them and their families and even got to learn some dishes from Elena as well. The love that they hold for their farm and for each other is enriching and inspiring and I would highly recommend this Workaway for people who wish to learn more about Italian culture and agriculture. Also, if you are interested in history this is a wonderful place to explore. Practically everywhere you turn has a story (literally a fortress right nearby) and it is no problem to use public transport to get around to the surrounding towns. Elena and Gian Marco are wonderful tour guides for the area and are often more than happy to share bits of the local history. They are also quite flexible if you are someone who needs time to do online work or if you need more rest. If any workawayers have any questions on the experience, you are welcome to message me as well. I am so grateful to have made such lovely friends and I hope to see you guys soon! With love, Amber Rose

Staying with Hassan was a really comfortable and enriching experience. I had my own space to work on my projects, and the exchange felt very natural and easy, more like spending time with a close friend than working. We shared meaningful conversations, practiced English together, and explored different topics and places, sometimes even diving into deeper chats that challenged both of us in a good way. He was in a busy period, preparing for a theater play he was very passionate about, and I truly admired his dedication and creativity. I also enjoyed helping him around the house and spending quiet moments together, listening to music, playing, practicing sports or just being :) Overall, it was a calm, friendly, and inspiring time, a beautiful cultural and personal exchange that I appreciate. All the best for you in your path and projects!!

What can I even say about this experience 🥹It was my first workaway experience, I spent a month there and it was better than I had imagined it, I left a piece of my heart there. If I could I would have prolonged my stay, because I knew I would miss “my babies” so much😭 The kids were just so welcoming, full of joy and excited to get to know me and spend time with me. They welcomed me with open arms and the biggest smiles every day. They would even argue over who got to hold my hand or sit on my laps, they were just the cutest❤️ I started teaching them English and Math from the very first day, which I didn’t think it was possible so early. School time is 8 20- 12 40 and 14 00- 17 00 by the way. It was challenging at times to live in different conditions I was not used to, but it was all worth it. I liked how I bonded with the teachers, in particular with Mr Peter, Madame Sharon and Mr Fred, they were really interested in my background. I got to know Victor only the day before leaving because he was sick, but the evening we spent together was just the best, he’s so funny and it felt like I made a good friend. I’m gonna miss Jane, I used to talk with her a lot, and Chris too, with whom I laughed a lot. About the activities you can do in your free time, you can take a waterbus in Mbita to visit other islands in the lake, like Takawiri or Mfangano (you should stay in some kind of resort tho, because otherwise the village people will keep asking you for money like it happened to me), you can go to Rusinga Lodge where there’s a nice pool and a great restaurant, and you can even go on a safari to Masai Mara for the weekend (do not do a safari in Nairobi like I did because it’s so much more expensive). You can’t go swimming in the lake in Rusinga because there are hippos so it’s dangerous, but you can in the other islands. It’s an experience I’d recommend to anyone, but you’ve got to know how to adapt of course! Asante for the forever lasting memories I made here!❤️❤️

We've been lucky enough to have Lea, David and Adda as our first ever workaway host. We've gained so many memories that will stay with us forever! During the whole stay they treated us like friends not as their workawayers. We spent 2,5 weeks on their peaceful land full of Olives. They offered us their guest Yurt, which has all the necessities you need for a good long sleep (you'll even be able to enjoy the comfort of the yurt during the day as you'll have siesta after every lunch). We've been there in October and still there was no need to use the wood furnace as the yurt was nice and warm. We helped them around the garden with everything we could. Renovating an old caravan (it's name is Müesli, if you visit them you'll sure find out why it received the name), planting and taking care of trees, preparing and planting beans, and lots of woodwork around the land. Although we helped a lot there was never pressure on us. We only had to do what we felt comfortable with, there was no rush, if we needed a break they never forced us to work more. The food was excellent, most of the things used are from the neighbouring lands or from ecotienda. We had freshly cooked meal on the table twice a day which was a blessing after a long productive day. Gracias por la comida!... (became our favorite little song during the weeks) We planned the cooking in advance so we knew when we'd be in the kitchen making food for all of us. Of course you'll cook only if you're comfortable with it. Communication was so fluent with the daily check-ins. You'll not only talk about what has to be done on the land but how you're feeling and what else you'd need in order to feel comfortable. They will pay 100% attention to you and if you're in you'll connect with their beatiful family in a deeper level. You can be yourself with them, they are good listeners and help you in every way they can. We had plenty of time to explore the surrounding. The mountains, the valley, the village Órgiva and the people all around, just like a little fairytale. Of course they helped us with suggesting hikes, activities but they were also in for walks together. We were unlucky because their beloved camper van was at the mechanic the whole time but I'm sure if it was working we'd have been going to the see with them. Addi is the cutest little person on the planet! She will need a bit of time to get to know you but when she accept you as a cool person, you will have the best little company for yourself! We truly enjoyed every moment with her. To sum up we hade one of the most meaningful 2,5 weeks of our life. Love, no judgement, meaningful chatters, and the beauty of nature. Can't wait to see you again!<3

Good to know: I think everyone who travels to a Spanish speaking country should learn some basics beforehand. It's a necessity to communicate and shows respect to the culture you are visiting. Dionny is 72, don't expect her to speak English just because you were raised with it ;) Mil gracias por todo, Dionny! Siempre serás bienvenida en mi país (Alemania y Polonia)! Hasta pronto! ❤️

I stayed with Janey and her son Christopher in Ireland for nine weeks and it was truly an amazing experience. They live in a beautiful home on a large property with a stunning view of the river and cows grazing on the opposite side. It’s very peaceful and idyllic. From the moment I arrived, Janey and Christopher were incredibly kind and welcoming. They immediately made me feel like part of their family and we shared many wonderful moments together. Janey is a very warm and caring person, you can talk to her about anything. And Christopher is a great kid, very smart, funny, and happy. We spent lots of time playing and having fun together. Overall, the work was great and very flexible. Most of my tasks involved helping around the house and spending time with Christopher, which I really liked. I also loved helping out with their pets, Stripe and Tilly, two lovely dogs, and Tobi the tortoise. Taking the dogs for walks was always a great part of my day and caring for a tortoise for the first time was such a fun and unique experience. During my stay, I also had the chance to improve my cooking skills, try new things, and learn a lot from Janey in the kitchen. All in all, I had a wonderful time. Words really can’t express how happy and grateful I am for this experience. Janey and Christopher have truly found a place in my heart, and I really hope to visit them again someday soon. I can only recommend staying with them! Feel free to message me if you have any further questions about my stay, I’d be happy to answer them.

Right from the very first conversation I had with Olivia online before she came to stay with us, I found her to be very kind, interested, joyful, and attentive. Olivia then gave us the gift of her indescribable curiosity, zest for life, appreciation, and mindfulness during her two-week stay with us in October 2025. Added to this was her high level of commitment to our place – whether it was fruit harvesting, leaf raking, or woodworking. For Jaco and me, it was an incredible joy to have Olivia with us! We wish her all the best for her future. :-)
