volunteer at backpackers hostel in Petra, Jordan run by Bedouin family
hello , we are Bedouin family run a small backpackers hostel in Petra and we'd welcome some help with the everyday running of reception and management.
We're located in the center of the town, only 15 min walk to the Old City of Petra and we have many guest from all over the world visit our hostel
We run an informal friendly place and we'd be happy to make you one of our family and show you round the town and introduce you to the life in petra and learn arabic language and cooking arabic food.

We can offer you a free room with all meals .
Generally you'd be doing a bit of everything with reception and management .
Mornings would be checking people out and helping around the hostel and payment; helping with laundry, maybe some cleaning.
Afternoons are usually very quiet as most people are in Petra, and so maybe a few check-ins,
talking to people when they return from Petra about their day, helping with any enquiries , ; tidying; making sure everything is ready for the next day,
Evenings, again chatting to the guests, helping them with onward travel, arrange the transportation and the tours for them maybe the odd check-in ,
not all of that are

Petra is a very quiet little town and would suit people who have a hobby or something to study in their free time. Apart from visiting Petra (about 2 or 3 days) there isn't alot else to do in the town. Walking, horse-riding, studying arabic, reading or visiting other places in Jordan (Aqaba, Wadi Rum).

Maher and his family is very welcoming. The showed great hospitality to me.
Beside working on the reception I offered my help in the kitchen as well, as there is plenty of time to do other things.
It was great to get to know everyone there.

I spend one week here which is 25-30mins walk to Petra, the stuffs is super friendly which is the most thing I appreciated.
My stay is quite okay and in a 9 bed dormitory room with private bathroom, most time I stay in the room alone.
