Descrição
We are a family home, with 2 teachers who tend to be away 8-4pm. We have a 3 acre property close to farms and forests. We love to garden, cook vegetarian food, make maple syrup, hike with our dog and forage wild foods and mushrooms. Our children are both away at university so we have quite a bit of space. I've spent extensive time at Buddhist monasteries and electronic music festivals as cook and steward. My husband has been making music for 25 years, has been vegetarian since he was born (hippie parents), loves games and always has a project on the go (hydroponics, learning uke, building things, geometric lego creations etc.). We are fine with cannabis use and social drinking but would not want any serious partying on our property. I'm friendly but have introvert tendencies so might not want to hang out all the time. We are 6 km from the nearest village so you either have to be cool with biking, long walks, fitting into our driving/shopping schedule or have your own transportation. We have a 4 year old German Short-Haired Pointer who is very loving but will jump up on you to give you a hug so our home is only good for dog lovers. I am a trained Master Naturalist so am happy to share knowledge about local flora and fauna.

Oportunidades de intercâmbio cultural e aprendizado
We live in a peaceful rural area with great access to hiking and mountain bike trails. I have cooked at many vegetarian meditation retreats and festivals so am happy to share vegetarian and vegan cooking knowledge. In the winter we have a hydroponic system for lettuces. In late Feb.-March we make maple syrup the old-fashioned way - tromping through snow and boiling over fire. Spring-Fall I forage for wild leeks, fiddleheads, wild mushrooms, and other treasures if you can handle bugs and excursions off pathways. If you do work at our cottage you will have access to beautiful lake swimming, canoe, kayak, paddleboard, maybe boat rides, and just general Ontario cottaging culture. We are 6km from the village of Millbrook, a 20 min drive from Peterborough, Ontario which we drive to daily, and a 5 minute drive to a GO bus stop that goes to Toronto and the GTA (1 1/2 hours). We especially welcome LGBTQ2S visitors and those who really love nature.

Hi, We live on a 3 acre property near the village of Millbrook, Ontario, Canada. We need help with our property - indoor painting, staining outdoors, splitting wood, yard maintenance, indoor cleaning and shovelling snow. We have a kitchen garden and perennial beds which always need attention if you are ready to pull grass, weed, water, move, dig, plant, replant. If you like to cook it is just two adults (both of us work in adult education during the day). We eat primarily vegan since one of us is allergic to dairy, but you can feel free to incorporate dairy or eggs at final stages if desired. We do not welcome meat or fish on our property. We love foraging, canning, making maple syrup if you have an interest. We have a German -Short-Haired Pointer, a very active, intelligent hunting breed who is always in need of a walk. Medium/large dog experience is recommended. We walk her off-leash on ATV, snowmobile or nature reserve trails where you very rarely see anyone else so hopefully you are a person who values solitude and is not scared of being in the bush alone with spotty cell service. If you have any building or art skills we have lots of projects to help on. Between May-Oct if you are okay with sleeping in a tent for a weekend or few days there is lots of tasks to be done at our lakeside cottage/summer home beside Frontenac Provincial Park. You must be aware that in the spring and early summer there can be mosquitos, black flies, deer flies and ticks.
