Hi, I'm Thalia!

I am one third Swiss, one third Spanish, and one third Australian and grew up Geneva. I studied for 8 years in Melbourne where I completed a Bachelor in classical piano performance and a PhD in musicology. For the past two years I have been travelling around Europe, the Middle East, and Asia and am in a nomadic part of life right now, asking myself a lot of questions about life.

I am a happy, warm, enthusiastic, well-travelled and community-minded 27 year-old girl. I absolutely love to make meaningful connections and discover new places and ways of life. I have been told I have a child's sense of wonder, and I get excited about the little things in life! I love painting (mostly watercolour) and creating art; playing and listening to music; exploring new places and meeting new people; reading and writing; and cooking (mostly vegetarian).

My two native langues are French and English and I also have a good level of Spanish.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Music: I have a PhD in musicology and an undergraduate degree in classical piano performance. I have been teaching piano, music history and music theory to children and adults of all ages for the past eight years and absolutely love to play piano.

Art: I love painting (mostly watercolour) and interacting with other artists. I have always been very creative and also enjoy drawing, writing, and photography. Right now I amin the process of creating a website to sell my paintings. I would love to help you with your artistic projects! In several past Workaways, I painted signs and a promotional mural and also helped to make promotional videos and photos.

Tourism/Hospitality/Hotel and hostel work: I have extensive experience working in hospitality and hotel environments using a variety of booking systems as well as cleaning, reception work, and tourism management.

Cooking: I love to cook vegetarian and vegan food and often host dinner-parties for my friends who always leave with full bellies and warm hearts. I often cook big batches for the week, and am very interested in the nutritional and energetic side of food.

Languages: My two native langues are French and English. I have experience teaching both and incorporate listening, speaking, reading and writing. It would be a pleasure to help you with both of these languages or to have a language-exchange arrangement.

Gardening: I know how to create a vegetable garden and am passionate about permaculture, organic growing, soil health, companion planting and seasonal planting.

Childcare: I have extensive professional experience with children. When I was in university I worked for seven years as a nanny, and taught piano to children of all ages. I am also trained in first aid. I connect really well with children, as I can be very young at heart, and have also looked after children with disabilities.

I am an active and energetic person who is very open to learning new skills. I'm not scared of hard or repetitive work!
