  • Description

Marcello and I have been using Workaway since 2017, and are currently on a small adventure in southern Italy. Although we love being outdoors and in the wild, we are looking more for city projects or projects with multiple workawayers to not be too isolated this time :)
It has been years since we've been around kids and miss their cuteness, so that's also a plus :) We have experience in house and animal sitting (dogs and cats but Lydia has also done goats, horses and chickens), hostels, hotels, bars, barista work (Lydia), teaching (Marcello), gardening, cleaning, farming. We would like to learn more building, about children, and crafts.

Please note we hardly ever drink alcohol and are vegetarians. We also believe in good communication-- we know that not all workaways accept couples and we work hard to be respectful of shared spaces and not "couple-y."

    About Lydia:
Hola a tod@s! I speak fluent Spanish after extensive travel and study in Perú and Spain, German after a master's and working in Germany, and Italian (although it needs some work). I'm enthusiastic to communicate with you, happy to speak with hands and unafraid to ask questions about the work. I am trained as a cartographer and love to make maps, happy to do so for you as part of our exchange :)
I hope to be in a home that is also open-minded and hopefully we can learn from each other. I love to giggle and like talking to people but can be a little shy at first, and I do enjoy some peaceful time to myself :) I come from a neat home, so I am familiar with keeping my area of the house/bungalow/apartment/whatever we decide neat and clean. I like to try all sorts of foods, but unfortunately cannot eat a lot of wheat-- I can buy my own bread/supplement if needed. Otherwise, very flexible (vegetarian). I'm athletic- I love sports and being outside! I hope we can meet :) Marcello and I have done workaway before to great success and cannot wait to host others when we begin to settle down.

    [About Marcello]
I've always had a passion for the outdoors and exploration. Despite my previous career in programming, I decided to pursue a more flexible lifestyle. From July to August 2018, I participated in a volunteering project in Turkey, where I assisted with turtle conservation and environmental education for local communities. Interacting with volunteers from across Europe was enriching, and we collaborated on several projects. Weekends were spent exploring Turkey's natural wonders like Pamukkale, Göreme, and Istanbul.

Platforms like Workaway have provided me with opportunities for personal growth and discovery in alternative lifestyles.

Thank you for your attention, and I'll keep you posted on further developments.

  • Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I have developed, above all, excellent interpersonal skills. In fact, I have no problem entering new environments and facing new challenges; on the contrary, these situations are motivating for me.
I was born in Venezuela, but grew up in Italy, so I am both a Spanish and Italian native speaker, but I also speak English well.
I am physically fit and ready to help with manual labor, such as taking care of the garden and the vegetable garden or doing household cleaning.
I get along very well with children, so, if necessary, I would be very happy to take care of them.
I studied classical guitar for four years, acquiring solid foundations, which I could teach to those who would like to learn how to play it.
I have a general knowledge of computers, since I graduated in Computer Engineering at the University of Padua (Northern Italy).
Although in some fields, such as DIY, I have no specific skills, I am confident that I can acquire them quickly enough, since I am a guy who learns quickly.
I can cook some nice italian plates and I would love to share them with others and to learn more recipes!
