Description

Dear travelers and hosts,
my name is Valentin and I am happy you found my profile!

Since I finished school in 2019 I spent a fair amount of time traveling with WorkAway and WWOOF to gain insight and experience working with nature. I fell in love with the fresh air and gorgeous landscapes of Norway which lead me to my ongoing vision of moving to the country of northern lights after I finish an apprenticeship in Germany around 2027.

After I spent 2020 mostly in Finnmark, Lillehammer and Tromsø I almost died during my december WorkAway in Kenya. I got back to Germany which left me as depressed as I have been the 2 years before I graduated.
As I found this development (depression->new found meaning and love for life during my time in norway->depression) quite anticlimactic I decided to get into psychedelics and work until I could afford studying in Vienna. An ego death experience a month after my real near death experience in Kenya and the storms of life as well as therapy and meditation taught me that all there is to seek is to find within the self and not in (substances from) the outside. This mature approach to life was a gamechanger for my inner well-being and helped me developing a strong sense of trust in the process.
I decided that I will not pursue an academic path but a practical.

My focus is on living a minimalistic, peaceful and stress free life connected nature, my values and the people I love.

A frustrating year as an apprentice-gardener left me desillusioned, burned out and, I am not going to lie, quite hopeless after I thought that I had found my professional path. Again I had to make up my mind and traveled Norway once again. This time I wanted to discover and learn about self-suffiency.
Today I am working in a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) in Germany and while still being interested in working with my hands and in nature I seek an apprenticeship in retail trade as my scoliosis slowly lets me know that it would not be the wisest decision to follow the job as a gardener for the next decades.

I consider traveling, working with nature, genuine human connections and essentially the enjoyment of delicious food amongst warm hearted people in a beautiful landscape part of a life I am happy to live which is why I am looking forward to more Workaway adventures.
