Hi there,

my name is Lena and I'm a 26 year old girl from Germany.
Since I graduated from school, travelling and volunteering are big parts of my life. Right now, I am studying Ecology in a small town in southern Germany. In March I have the opportunity to go on a study trip to Kenya. I plan to extend my time Africa a little to finally do some volunteering again. I am really looking forward to explore a whole new continent and exchange with local people.

As I have done four Workaway jobs in New Zealand, one each in Switzerland, Italy, Sweden and Slovenia and two in Ireland, I can say I have quite a bit of experience with workaway. So far, each project was special and enriching in its own way, I met such kind people and had the chance to try many different things. I would be very happy to become part of a workaway family again.

Generally, I’m a really adventurous and inquisitive person who loves challenges and variety. I'm very interested in foreign cultures, their different traditions and lifestyles and the wildlife and nature at all the amazing places in the world.
A sustainable lifestyle and environmental protection are one of my greatest ambitions. Since three years a work voluntarily in an environmental organization that does practical nature conservation projects together with volunteers, from tree planting to bog rewetting.
I love the mountains, camping and the outdoor life, and learning and teaching about nature and environment. Some of my favourite activities are hiking, climbing, cycling, swimming and spending time with friends and family.

I really hope another couple of weeks full of new experience, unforgettable adventures and inspiring ways of life are ahead of me.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Generally I will offer my help wherever it’s needed – I’m a flexible, open-minded, hard-working and fast-learning person. I’ve got a great knowledge about environment and nature (at least I hope so after 5 years of studying :D), gardening/plants and some mechanical skills too. I really enjoy farm work with all its tasks and the work with animals.

In previous Workaway jobs I could gain experience in working on farms, sanding and painting (house renovation), child care, gardening and lots of cleaning (for guesthouses as well). I have worked on an avocado orchard (mulching, weeding, etc.) and all in all two months on vineyards in New Zealand, in hostels and a tourism business. I have a good physical condition and no problem to work outdoor all day.

I really like being part of a project, sharing ideas and trying new things. All in all I’m a really uncomplicated person who loves to meet new people and who doesn’t need much to be happy.
