  • Description

    Greetings Workawayers,

My name is Capí. I am part owner and General Manger of our hostel in the Cloud Forest (1250m above sea level) overlooking beautiful Lake Yojoa, the largest lake in Honduras. Our property in the past was only used as a campground, but due to the change in backpacking culture, we have decided to target the true backpacker.

    More about the Property:
There are no roads to the property. We have parking for cars at our base camp, It takes approximately 30-45 minutes to hike to our spacious land. We have no electricity or wifi for the moment. I am unsure if i want to install solar panels or some other renewable energy source other than solar lights to light the cabins/Tents. We do have Clean water, berries and fruit trees. We have a wood burning stove and can have prepared food and/or supplies delivered to us by one of our porters.

    What's Around?
Like i stated earlier, the property overlooks the lake in the cloud forest, depending on the weather, offers amazing sunsets. talk a short hike in the morning for the most amazing sunrise. In the area, we have 400 species of animals and 800 species of plants. The bird tour that we offer has the most successful viewing record that i have experienced. The main draws are quetzals and the emerald toucan, The area is also home to 32 species of humming bird including the emerald hummingbird that only exist in this mountain range, We also have Coffee tours in the nearby town we hilke from 25 minutes away there is a chocolate tour on ancient sacred Mayan grounds where human sacrifice were once made. 1 hour away we have an extensive cave system, much of it is still unexplored. Closer we have a beer brewery and coffee shops you would expect to see in Europe, The only difference is that this coffee is much better, All around the lake there is much to do, Multiple hikes, lookouts, archaeological sites, and waterfalls. Kayak the lake, tube the river, or hang out at the park on the canal. This area really has a lot to offer,

Feel free to stay as long as you want and learn Spanish, Honduran cooking, and a little more about life here in a culturally rich community. If you are interested in helping better a community, then we are more than welcome to help you out.

Our town is one of the safest rural spots in all of Honduras to see other side of life here. (And all the hidden gems) So you can definitely see how most people in this country live like day to day. (And cool places with out tourists to deal with.)
