I am a 42 year old woman from the United States, travelling across Europe for a year, looking for experiences and opportunities that will enrich my life.

I am a former WWOOFer and Helpexer. I travelled through Canada, from British Columbia all the way to New Brunswick, for 6 months in 2016, volunteering and working on 6 different farms and a short stint at a diving resort north of Vancouver Islands. It provided me with lifelong memories and some amazing experiences.

My previous hosts made sure I left with a little bit of knowledge of everything :) but being a learner by nature I pick up things relatively easy.
I cook frequently so I am pretty handy in the kitchen. Besides from being able to cook, I have other newbie skills that I have picked up along the way. Some gardening, processing food, harvesting, firewood chopping, weeding, pruning shrubs and bushes, stable mucking, house work, etc. I love animals and have house sat and looked after animals (dogs, cats, chickens, hogs, cattle) for 2 of the families I WWOOFed for.

I then travelled to Peru, South America, for 6 months in 2017, teaching English at a local language school. I have an adventurous spirit and am looking to build relationships and experience the local life away from the tourists.

I bring hard work, dedication, and a hunger for learning with me. I am generally a shy person but an avid listener and a keen observer. I take directions extremely well and can be left alone to complete a task with little supervision once I learn the ropes. I am a very clean person and highly organized, because I have an immense respect for my environment and take care of things around me. I try to keep my space in order and tidy and will do the same for your property.

I am currently looking for an opportunity for 2 to 8 weeks. Please let me know if you are looking for a helping hand.

Ps:
~ Medical: I have received both shots of the Pfizer Covid vaccine in January 2021 and will have the necessary proof of vaccination. I also got the 3rd booster shot in September 2021, before I arrived in Europe.
~ I will be travelling with the required travel insurance and am happy to send you a copy for proof.
~ Language: I speak fluent English and Hindi.
~ Diet: I am mostly vegetarian/ pescatarian, but do eat some chicken and pork once in a while.
~ Lifestyle: I do not smoke and have never done any kind of drugs.
~ I have a US license and am willing to drive if and when needed.

Our time with Sham wwoofing for us at our farm and B&B here in Sicamous, B.C. Canada, was wonderful. She became like a friend immediately, with a wonderful sense of humour, great work ethic, and her positive energy made every day fun.
There is no shortage of manual labour here, from feeding, watering and mucking out stalls of our black angus cows, to feeding, watering, collecting eggs from our chickens, to building a golf lawn on the property which meant clearing the land and monitoring the burn pile that ensued.
We had another young wwoofer here, and Sham was like a big sister to him. Enjoyable all around.
We highly recommend Sham. She will be a great addition to your world.

~Shyamala stayed with us for a few weeks in 2017 and what an adventure it was! From the start, she was so easy to get along with and so fun and she was willing to try whatever in terms of work but also contributed significantly to the house work and child care. In addition to being a hard worker, she is extremely adaptable and demonstrated this during a nine day power outage caused by an ice storm. During this time, she cooked elaborate meals regularly and successfully on the wood stove, developed an organizational system to ensure optimal food storage and to minimize loss of food, and trekked through fallen trees and deep snow to collect water. We were sad to see Sham go at the end of her stay but felt lucky to have met her and to have laughed with her. She would make a great addition to any group or family and we wish her the best.
