Mi próximo destino:
Norway - Desde Dic 2024 Hasta Abr 2025 Ver todosDescripción
I am available between December 2024 and April 2025 and prefer to spend this time at the countryside at a farm or husky kennel in the nature of Norway, Sweden, Finland or Iceland.
My name is Katja and I live in the south of Germany, right on the border with Switzerland. Currently, I am taking a career break. I quit my previous job as a product manager at the end of 2022 to gain new experiences such as traveling, exploring nordic countries in particular, meeting exciting people, trying out new activities and for volunteer work.
I'm a very active person, full of energy and have been doing sports my whole life, preferably outdoors in nature, such as mountain biking, cross-country skiing, hiking. I'm always open and curious to try new things. Besides nature and sports, I love music. I play the drums.
I grew up on the countryside on a little farm with many animals and crops. Therefore, I can work hard and physically, handle tasks well, drive tractors and have a good connection with animals. Huskies have captured my heart in particular. I've already been working on a husky farm in Norway and Finland and gone on a guided seven-day expedition with my own sled and team of dogs in Sweden. That was one of the best experiences of my life so far, and since then, the desire to work with dogs has never left me.
During my former professional life, I've traveled a lot and seen some of the world. However, it was always with a deadline in mind, and most of the time I only had views of airports, hotels, or my clients' office buildings. Spending my free-time in nature has always helped me to stay grounded.
In between my travels, I volunteer at an elementary school in Germany. I accompany the children in reading and arithmetic and introduce them to the topic of healthy eating. Working with the kids is simply fantastic.
My motto is: Try & Error. Trying is better than studying and if it doesn't work the first time, there's always next time.
My heart has always been drawn to the North. I like snow, the cold, the nordic lifestyle and mindset. That's why my first two trips during my break were to Northern Norway and Sweden. It was there that I first heard about Workaway and I said to myself, "I have to do that."
And here I am now, ready to contribute with my experience and hands-on attitude to volunteer while simultaneously learning something new.
Happy to meet and to work for and with you :-)Intereses

Que habilidades tienes?
I am a food technology engineer by training with experience in food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and personal care product manufacturing. I worked globally as a product developer as well as a product manager in sales and marketing. Additionally, I'm a nutrition coach and currently expanding my knowledge in Breathwork techniques.
I can manage household chores including cooking, baking, cleaning, laundry...
Growing up on a farm has instilled in me a natural affinity for animals and a willingness to engage in hard physical work, including driving tractors.
I have first experience with sled dogs, having spent time at husky kennels in Norway and Finland, and driving my own sled in Sweden for seven days. Consequently, I know that I can handle large, strong dogs well and understand what it takes to care for them, feed them and train them. However, I want to learn so much more.
I also enjoy spending time with children and I am actively involved as a volunteer at an elementary school and a lot with friends' children. So, having kids around would be a good fit as well.
Furthermore, I have experience from working in bars, cafés and restaurants and I am open to work in B&Bs or guesthouses. With my open, easygoing and communicative nature, I'm great at interacting with customers and guests.
I am capable of basic handyman tasks like painting walls, assembling furniture and drilling holes into walls. I'm eager to learn more, such as working with wood or renovating a house.
I hold a driver's license and I speak fluent Germany and English, with basic knowledge of French. I offer German language instruction and am interested in learning Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish or Icelandic.
I am a independent, responsible, persistent and reliable person.
My friends say I am a quick learner. To me, challenges are chances to acquire fresh knowledge.
Both the company of others and solitude and silence are enjoyable to me, and I find charismatic individuals and their stories fascinating. I love spending time with myself in nature.
My curiosity and playful nature remain intact from childhood, ready to play :-)Edad
