Hi,
I'm Maggie. I'm 18 years old and I just finished highschool in Austria (that's right next to Germany), and I have always travelled much with my parents. I lovelovelove seeing other places and cultures, meeting new people and customs and venturing outside my comfortzone.

I love animals of all sorts, but especially equines. I have a lot of experience with horses (I started horseriding when I was four).
I love working with people and I have no troubles working in a team.
I'm fairly fit, as I ride at least once a week and do other sports in my free time (Gym, Archery...). I got my sailing licence a few years ago and I love being on the open ocean.
I speak German fluently (it's my mothertongue) and English also pretty fluently. My french is passable for small talk, it just takes a bit longer.
I play the Piano superficially and I enjoy playing the guitar for singing songs.
I'm somewhat of a nerd, I love books and movies and comics, and I do think I'm fairly educated on a broad spectrum.
I don't mind hard work and long days, if I enjoy what I do with my time.

I want to see as much of the world as possible while I'm young, and I want to make as many memories as I can.

I'm still figuring out what I want to do with my life, but seeing the world is a dream I've had for forever, and workaway is helping me achieve it.

Unfortunately, I cannot leave a good feedback for this workawayer, or the other girl that arrived with her at the same time, as from the moment they walked in the door, I could see that they'd been in contact with two of the previous workawayers that we had asked to leave in July. The group that left us a negative review. They actually asked me… read more about that, so I know they were in contact with them. We didn't stand a chance. They only showed fake interest when I spoke with them, right from the first conversation and each one after that, and spent most of their time in the bedroom on their phones. They always had to be asked to come out and do anything. There was no real interest in anything. No point in asking them for extra help like with baking. I usually enjoy have people baking with me, but I go by how someone acts around me. And when I asked them, if they'd like to play a board game in the evening, they took off to their room and didn't come out. Very rude. Also, the room they were in was spotless and cleaned before their arrival, and EXACTLY like in the picture as I took that picture for workaway right after Hannah cleaned it before she left it, the last girl to be here before these two girls. No cats were ever allowed in there, so definitely no fur. [redacted]. Also it's a big room, plenty of space in drawers for clothes. Suitcases could be taken downstairs if they wanted more room. But they didn't do that. It has a bakers cart in one corner because I don't want cats to get to it, and it's used as a spare bedroom for our guests or family, when there are no workawayers there. Everything was washed down and bedding cleaned before they arrived. If they found it cluttered, it was with their own belongings, not mine. We always ask the previous workawayers to clean up the room before they leave. If you see Hannah's review, you'll see that she did not have any problems here. She was here for the month of September. Or Krista, who was here for the month of August, or most of the year, for that matter. Also all the rest of the reviews through the years were positive. I will not show excitement or interest in people that come to my house and criticize everything they look at. Body language and actions speak louder than words. They made absolutely NO effort from day 1. [redacted] There was no fur Everywhere like they said. We have a couch in the living room that is mainly for the cats, by the window, so they don't go on our leather couches. And if there was fur anywhere, they could have spent a few minutes extra to vacuum it up. I thought They were here to help out? I never have cats or fur in the kitchen and dining room while I bake. Vacuuming is done in the mornings before I come in to start baking. The cats are closed up all day and let out for the night. We had boxes of tomatoes on some of the chairs and coffee table and couch in the living room, in the fall, as we had to pick pails of them before the frost. We do this every fall and there was plenty of space to sit, [redacted]. All farmhouses use their houses to bring in the crops until it can be canned and processed. We are not city people with perfect houses. This is how food is made and harvested. [redacted] and I would have liked if they left the next day, but thought I'd wait and see if things changed. Obviously not. They were all for riding around with Lawrence in the Can Am [redacted]. The garden work was mostly done,by the previous two workawayers that were here for the month of August and the month of September, so they didn't have much to do here. So I'd ask them to go brush the horses and spend time with them, when I didn't have anything for them to do. But they'd spend all of five minutes out there with the horses and then run back to the house to the bedroom. And there wasn't any interest in our older horses, except to complain about how they looked. Well, that's what a "forever home" means. They are there to live till they die. They all looked fantastic when they were young. Just like people. We could put them down but they're not sick. The vet came out actually just a couple DAYS before these girls arrived! We have one old horse that is almost 30 and yes he got skinny but he's fed better than us. And the vet said he was not sick. I can't stand inexperienced people trying to tell us about how to farm or how to keep a house. I don't have to put up with that. I've hosted over 1000 people and there will always be some trouble makers along the way and I realize that. But there are plenty of other places for them to go if they don't like it here. I didn't work so hard all my life to put up with these kinds of personalities and they are definitely not here for the right reasons. The pictures are exactly how it looks here. It's a well lived in house. We keep it clean and with three rescue cats, yes there is fur but not like what they said. And since they're were asked to vacuum every day in the mornings, I can't see why there should have been fur on anything! So I guess that's directly related to how much they didn't care to help. In the whole time they were here, I can't understand what they meant about the hosts yelling? [redacted] Lawrence is quite deaf, so things have to be repeated alot, and also when he's outside and I have to call him from the house, that'd be the only time I can think of. Sure would like an example of us yelling at eachother when they were here! Another thing was contradicting instructions. If I asked them to do something, why did they go outside then and ask Lawrence what to do? He wouldn't have known that I already told them what I thought they could do. If they asked him, he found a job for them. That's not contradicting eachother. I told them if we had nothing for them to do, they can spend that time on the horses. Simple enough. I also made it clear that if I had something else I needed them for, I'd call them. I just thought it was frustrating that they'd run to their bedroom after a few minutes outside, and not even bother to stop and ask if there was something else they could do, like all the other helpful workawayers do. Each day was hard for me to not get upset with the way they were acting. I really tried to avoid a confrontation while they were here, and just waited for them to come tell me they would move on to somewhere else. It took longer than I expected. I don't like the way they made me feel in my own home. I always feel very comfortable having workawayers in my home. Sad for me this time, because according to our conversations before they arrived, I was very excited to meet them. I don't have problems getting along with workawyers, so these girls were a huge disappointment. These are the kind of workawayers I try to avoid, because if there's even the slightest thing they don't like, they [redacted] give an exaggerated negative review, just because "they can" . They just spoil things for others.
