My name is Jay from California.
My work parter is Sophia from Austria.
I've been a teacher for 10 years and I want to open up my own "school" hostel where individuals care share their skills with others. I find the deepest connections I've made have been in the classroom setting. Joining on with us we can make those connections with like minded individuals around the world.
Sophia is a NGO worker, Nurse and classical musician. Her goal is help create an environment where we can help out the community and facilitate cultural enrichment through music, eldery care and day programs for youth.
We are acquiring a hostel in Ecuador.
Our goal is to find individuals interested in hosting classes and seminars in various skills. From martial arts, meditation, knife throwing, cooking etc.
It is a nice property with loads of potential I hope to create a space outside of the usual party backpacker vibe. We also aren't trying to be a new age oasis. The goal is to find a nice balance. Education space/relaxing atmosphere.

Hopefully, we will be able to trade skills and create a nice environment to share this with others.
Don’t have the money for a trip to the Galapagos? Not to worry, because Isla de la Plata is the next best thing. Blue-footed boobies abound on the island, as do a number of other curious species as well as a legion of tiny red crabs. Those who happen to visit between June and September should even be able to spot a humpback whale or two.
A couple hours north of town lies Los Frailes, widely considered to be the best beach in Ecuador. With blindingly white sand and inviting turquoise water, this crescent-shaped slice of paradise is sheltered by high cliffs on each side, meaning it’s a tranquil spot for a relaxing swim.
At this point we are collecting people willing to put "sweat equity" into the location. All folks and skills are welcome. The key ability is teaching experience and the willingness to share your ability in a relatively structured way.
Aside from daily hostel duties turning beds and some light cleaning.
Workawayers would design and share small workshops based around their skills and passions.
For example, I will be teaching hospitality English courses and music recording.
If painting is your skill then well host a painting class and you could share your skill with local kids and guests.
If you know Capoeria then we'd create and host a capoeira class. The space is open for you as a volunteer to create your role!
Este anfitrión ofrece intercambio de idiomas
Always keen to share English & German lessons in exchange for Italian, Spainish, French or Portuguese..
Camping area, hostel dorm, and private rooms. Depending on nature of skill and class sizes.
There is a kitchen area and means to make basic meals will be provided.
Time off is surfing, hiking, and all that the region has to offer. We're not looking for free labor that eats your time but an exchange of skills to enrich our hostel and others lives.
Montañita is known for having some of the best breaks in South America, a fact that attracts scores of serious surfers year after year. Though it’s not all about the pros hustling for monster waves, as gentle swells and high-quality surf schools allow beginners to get on their feet and hang ten in no time.
