We are a couple with four children -- the last is in college and the others are off on their own. I am a school counselor for the local high school, my husband works from home as a writer and director for the film industry. We have hosted four exchange students from both France and Spain. We love to travel internationally; we lived in South Africa for a while and have been workaway volunteers ourselves. We love to spent time getting to know new people and being outdoors.

Travelers will experience living in a small quintessential New England village but one which is populated not only with lifelong Vermonters but also with people who have moved here from all over the country to pursue a quieter lifestyle. We enjoy meeting new and diverse people and sharing stories and experiences.
We need help with garden and general yard work. This includes clearing out old beds, cutting back branches and trees, mulching, weeding, and planting. We would like help building a nice fire pit in our meadow. We expect travelers to help about 4-5 hours a day. Most have worked longer days to have some days free. We love our area and enjoy taking people around. We would love to have someone familiar with landscaping as we would like some ideas and possibly help for bigger landscape design projects.
Our house is on 36 acres with plenty of trails and is adjacent to unlimited easy hiking as well as snowshoeing and cross-country ski trails. We have bikes that can be borrowed. The house is a four bedroom contemporary with lots of windows that overlook beautiful gardens, hills and forests. Travelers will have a single room with a shared bathroom. As well as access to the kitchen, TV room and other living areas. We want you to feel at home, and you will be treated like family which also means helping keep the house neat and cleaning up after oneself. No smokers.
We are located in Woodstock, Vermont, the heart of the Green Mountains, in south central VT, near the New Hampshire border. Conde Nast and Ladies Home Journal have both called Woodstock the prettiest town in America. We are minutes from Billings Rockefeller National Historic Park, the Appalachian Trail, many major ski areas, Long Trail Brewery, and plenty of hiking, biking and other outdoor activities. We are also a half hour from Dartmouth College, an hour from the Ben and Jerry's factory, and an hour and a half from Burlington. NYC is four and a half hours away, Boston is two and a half, and Montreal is 3 and a half. There is train, bus, and airline access to these metropolitan areas.
