Our camp is a 44 acre piece of land in the Himalayan desert of Ladakh, 3,200 metres above sea level on the banks of the Indus river.

We are so remote that we try to buy as little as possible and rely on local resources, upcycling where we can as Ladakh has no facilities for recycling. We love to attract creative workawayers who can help us in making the campsite even more beautiful, working with mud, driftwood, stones, granite.
Our organisation is close knit with a young staff who get on well. Those staying with us would be put up in their own spacious tent with decent beds and attached bathroom.

The landscape is immensely beautiful and there is plenty to be learnt form the ancient, local culture that is, in parts, relatively untouched by modernity. Staying at the camp would provide the insight into the difficulties that the communities face in living in such a disconnected region and the innovative ways in which they adapt to their surroundings.

This year we are particularly looking for people with a proven track record of creating - painters, videographers, photographers are welcome, as are anyone who can work with wood or stone.

With 44 acres of wild land there a number of projects that we are constantly working on or there is always space to create something of your own and we are very supportive of creative projects.

Electricians are also welcomed!

There are many sporting or physical activities in the region (bicycling, motorbiking, rafting, trekking amongst others. The land is conducive for pursuits such as astronomy (we have a decent amateur telescope on sight) and bird watching (we have over 250 types of birds on the land). There is much to be explored in Ladakh and Kashmir and any Work Awayers would be allowed plenty of time to explore
