Currently looking for a volunteer from the 25th of august - 26th of september. I am going to ireland for 4 weeks so I need someone to take over the hotel, therefore I need someone I can trust and who is honest. As you will be in charge of the hotel I can offer you 20 % of the booking profit (minus tax and commission) for the time that you are in charge. Please put "September" in your subject line if you are interested!
My name is Jim, I am Irish living in Costa Rica for the past 15 years. I am the owner of the Hotel located in Cabuya, 2kms away from the beautiful Cabo Blanco National Park, and 7km from Montezuma, in the Puntarenas Province.
I am a bold honest man always up for a good laugh and a beer. I used to work as a scientist back in Ireland and am passionate about the diverse Costa Rican ecosystem that surrounds the hotel.
As the name suggests, the Hotel is home to a group of monkeys living in the trees above, as well as many iguanas, insects, and my four dogs I love more than anything. We have 5 cabins and can accommodate up tp 30 people. During high season we also provide BBQs on the beach, which are a great opportunity to meet the world travelers who come stay at the hotel.
There is plenty to do around the hotel, surfing, kayaking, spear fishing, snorkeling, bicycles, fishing rods or go for nature walks near to the waterfalls and jungles surrounding the area. (all equipment provided).
We also have a swap library. Mostly English books.Few German.
So if you like Irish music, biodiversity, and sharing stories to the sound of howler monkeys, then the Hotel is the place for you.

Intercambio cultural y oportunidades de aprendizaje
There is so much to learn here. First you will improve your Spanish by interacting with locals work at the hotel daily. Second you will learn a whole lot about Costa Rican biodiversity. This is my passion, and I am looking to share it with anyone I can.
You also will have the opportunity to learn how to surf at the many surf schools present in the surroundings.
Finally you will learn from all of the people that you'll meet. We get a wide variety of travelers coming to the hotel each year, and they all have interesting stories to tell.
I mostly need help at the hotel. I need an organized person skilled in computer who can help me with bookings, welcoming guests, and the day to day tasks that come with the running of a small hotel.
Some digital marketing skills is an asset, and I would love to get some help with the website, or taking photos of the place.
Another asset would be for you to speak several languages such as Spanish, English and German.
You might have to share a bedroom with other volunteers, a double bed and two single beds, and shower in one of the cabins. You will also have access to the main kitchen to cook your meals.
There is a washing machine on site for your clothes.
This is compensated work. You will be in charge of your own food which will allow you to enjoy the Costa Rican life as you desire.

Thank you very much for the experience.
It was our first workaway and it was a great experience!
We didn't have time to get bored during our 4 weeks at Jim's. The work required was not long and not complicated, which left us a lot of free time to chill out and discover the surroundings, especially the small village of Cabuya with its Cabo Blanco park, but also
I really recommend this for people who speak Spanish as it makes communication with the customers and locals much
Valayria was the best workaway person i have ever had, she was a pleaser to work with ,always in a good mode and ready for anything, very good communication in French ,Russian English and Spanish.
Every body loved her, my only wish was that she could have stayed longer.
Please please come back again.
Best Regards Jim (OWNER)
Jim is quite a character with a lot of amazing stories, his place is a wonderfull I saw so many animals. You can litteraly seat in the hammac reading and see a lot of monkeys playing in the trees. Theres is a lot to do around which is great for your day off !
My job was really easy just needed to water
This was my first workaway experience and what an experience !
The place, the people, the vibes, everything was perfect. Cabuya is perfect to discover the beauty of Costa Rica, between Cabo Blanco reserve, all the beaches and the inside land, you can see every aspect of this nature. Also it's not such a touristic place so
The work was pretty simple and self-explanatory: sweeping the property, watering the road & plants, walking
Lot of free time to enjoy the area, Montezuma waterfalls, Santa Teresa, Cabo Blanco national parc...
There were not that many customers due to the pandemic, but when there were they did a great job handling them and maintaining the cabiñas.
They gave me lots of splendid ideas for the place and gave it a good facelift. No
