Description
Hi, my name is Konrad and I am a 20-year-old student, living in UK and Germany. Meeting and working with different people I find is the best way to get to know a place, a culture, and myself.
In my life, I always want to do more than I have time for. I have always been interested in so many things that I could never do them all. Currently I am studying Philosophy, Politics and Economics at University, but before, I have spent a lot of time being an visual artist, cycling, running, reading and writing, or playing the trumpet. Art has always been a constant in my life and a way to share, process and express all the impressions that I am gathering from travelling.
Most of my spare time I spend being creative. I love painting, taking photos, and the occasional bit of modelling and sculpturing. I often apply my art skills practically, for example for organising and decorating my University's ball, or for taking photos at weddings. To feel well in my mind and body, I also spend a lot of time doing sports. Last year I rowed a lot for university, but I'm also in love with hiking, cycling, climbing and calisthenics. I'm always up for trying a new sport or game, or going for a sunrise walk! With my friends, I like to talk philosophy, politics, dance, watch the sunrise, travel and sports. Because my university work is so focused on thinking, I would like to make a change this summer and work with my hands again, instead of my brain. Creating something with my hands, such as paintings, sculptures, or fixing my bike has always given me a unique sense of satisfaction, which I seek after still.
My family and I used to travel a lot before Covid hit: We've backpacked through south-east Asia, we did a road-trip through the US and hiked along the coast of Mallorca and much more. I just completed a bike tour from London to Paris. The privilege of travelling so much made me realize how beautiful the world is, how little I know and how much I would like to explore. I also learned how much I value nature, sleeping in a tent in the desert in Oman, or hiking through the Malaysian jungle. Nature to me is a space to retreat from the urban chaos, to find peace around me and within myself. I am deeply concerned that large parts of the environment are being destroyed due to human activity and I'm trying hard to minimize my negative impact on the climate, by eating vegan, convincing my parents to switch to green energy-providers, install solar panels and use public transportation instead of the car.
From years of living on my own in the US and in the UK I have learned to quickly adjust to new surroundings, learn languages, and make friends. I have become independent and am thus easy to host and quick at learning. As a the captain of my rowing team, I've learned to take responsibilities and to work hard to make my visions come true. Last summer, I had an amazing workaway experience, working with Michalis and his family. Together, we built a solar shower, cooked, ate, and laughed together I'd love to have more experiences like that!
From volunteering with workaway, I hope that I learn new skills, new ideas and new friends! I'm keen to explore alternative ways of living, such as self-sufficiency, and farming, also as ways to reduce one's enviromental impact. I'm looking forward to meeting you :)Interests

I am a responsible and open-minded team-player, but I can also work well individually. I enjoy learning new skills and I'm quick at mastering them. I have lots of experience with painting and photography and some experience with woodwork and handling concrete, because I built my own home gym (pull-up bar and weights) and because I learnt sculpturing with wood.
I have some mechanical skills from years of repairing and adjusting my bike and rowing boats.
I am a good cook and have experience cooking for a group of people. I usually cook vegetarian or vegan.
We have our own garden in which we grow potatoes, apples, raspberries, salad, strawberries, celery, carrots, zucchini, tomatoes, herbs and more recently, peaches! Gardening is a lot of work and over the years I have learned how to dig up fields, set up watering systems, pull out tons of weeds and cut back plants and trees.
From rowing, cycling, and going to the gym for many years now, I have built physical strength, which I can use to help you with heavy things.
I am good with technology and can help with many digital problems.
I have a driving German Driving license and experience driving automatic and manual cars.
I don't fear getting my hands dirty and ready to help you with your work!Age
