Hello, my name is Meggan and I’m 24 years old. I come from a small town in the North East of England and I currently work as a Waitress which I have been doing for the last 9 years.

I have been dreaming of traveling the world since being a young girl and I’ve done 2 Workaway’s (in France and Costa Rica) so far which I have thoroughly enjoyed. Due to Covid and financial reasons I’ve not explored no where near as much as I’d have liked but tried my best under the circumstances.

I’m looking to become the best version of myself and learn about new cultures, gain connections around the world and add to my current skill set.

I’m passionate about learning what the world has to offer and I hope to fulfil my dream of traveling.

What else ...

I have taken part in the National Citizen Service which there I helped fundraise for helping the homeless. I volunteered in a local food bank storage warehouse where I packed crates and food parcels and delivered them to the YMCA charity. I have also done a short course on NVC (None Violent Communication) which has taught me how to connect and communicate with people on an even more empathic level.

In 2019, I embarked on a 3 month volunteering trip to Nepal which I went via a charity named Restless Development. In Nepal, I ran activities in rural communities which focussed on the topic of Livelihoods. I taught children in schools and also community members on sexual and environmental health. I lived with a Nepalese family in a rural village and it was an amazing cultural exchange.

I done my first workaway in 2019, in Gascony, France, and loved every minute of it. I helped look after 9 rescue dogs and done maintenance work in different houses.

I volunteered for Barnardos LINK service between 2021-2022 as a children's support worker. This service specializes in social prescribing and is well-being focused. I ran classes on LGBTQ+ support and general well-being support groups.

In 2022 I completed my second workaway experience in Costa Rica. I done housekeeping at an eco lodge retreat in Uvita for 1 month then spent the next 6 weeks traveling around CR.

I’ve recently just come back from Westport, Ireland, after visiting a friend who is currently doing a Paid Workaway there. *update*, My friend is now doing another Paid Workaway in Austria. I am very keen to find longer term paid Workaways around the globe.
