  • Description

    Hello Workaway Hosts!!
I am 25 years old and from Pennsylvania, USA but currently a resident of the Netherlands, where I have lived for the past 6 years completing my studies. Now I am just about to finish my Master in Earth Science and I will start a job as a bat researcher/statistician.

From end of August until mid-October or so, I would love to use my time off to see some beautiful nature and learn from others through volunteering. I am a quick learner and very open to gaining new skills and knowledge in the realm of permaculture, sustainable living, ecological farming, because one day I hope to live like that too. Mostly I am interested in being immersed in nature, and performing jobs that require physical labor or working with animals, but also happy to assist in the house with cleaning. I was passionate about horses when I was younger and I rode cross-country for several years. I would love to get back in touch with this part of myself, be around horses, ride and care for them, and learn everything I can in my time with you!

In the past years, I have conducted field work and research mostly on bats, a species which I have grown to love and that I enjoy telling people about : ) I volunteer with a conservation organization in my city and make social media posts for a bat conservation group. My most recent part-time job was cleaning at a boulder hall( I like to climb), so I am sure that I could also clean to a high standard. I also have 4 months experience working with seals, 1 month working with monkeys, and five years experience working with dogs and cats at a kennel back home.

I have lived in France, the Netherlands, Australia, and travelled for year in New Zealand, so I am comfortable to travel independently and find my way in a new place. In these places, I lived with people from different countries and over time I think I have become quite accommodating to different mindsets and find it easy to adapt. I also have had experience on Workaway before at beef and sheep farms, flower farms, holiday parks and hostels.

In my free time when I am not working for you I will probably be reading, doing yoga, running, and hiking the area :)
