Hello! My name is Dawn Thompson and I am from a small, rural town in the middle of the U.S. but I am currently location independent and couldn't be happier! I do my university work all online and I tutor English to students in Taiwan to make some extra money. I joined Workaway because I wanted to make more of a positive impact when I travel. When I was traveling and working before, I felt like I was only experiencing the culture, but now I am ready to authentically live in places and give back to the communities! I love to know the nitty gritty of places so I like to travel super slow and stay in places for longer than a couple of weeks and look forward to working on some long term commitments and projects. I have done a variety of jobs besides tutoring. I have been a cook (at a senior living home, so nothing too complicated), baby and house sit, social media, photography, videography, content writing, painting, outdoor agriculture work. I am eager to learn new skills and try something new, so if you are patient with me I can promise I will give my best effort to help you in any way I can.

I am currently tutoring English online to students in Taiwan and I enjoying working with small groups of children. I have done everything from art projects to working out in fields and don’t shy away from hard work. I enjoy the fine arts and love playing my guitar

Additionally, since I am completing my bachelor’s degree online and tutoring English, I would need (even if only for a couple of hours a day) a quiet space with access to internet. I would love to communicate with you on how I can still help out, while still completing school and work. If there is no access or a lack of communication of what is expected, then I will have to kindly decline or leave. I joined Workaway to enhance how I travel and give back, but I would prefer to do so not at the expense of my education or income. Hope you understand and can’t wait to talk with you further :)
