Hi!
My name is Beth and I am going to be traveling in Europe for about a month and a half this summer! I have spent the last few semesters of college learning Spanish and would love to put my skills to the test! I am a person who is incredibly curious about the world and all the cultures that make it up so I am excited about the cultural exchange side of workaway. I also love to hike, bike, swim, and be in the great outdoors! Some of my other hobbies include listening to podcasts and music, reading books, playing board games, and doing arts/crafts projects. While I am at home, I have lots of house plants that I care for as well as an organic garden where I have grown vegetables built early-season growing structures (a cold frame and a hoop house).

During one of my workaway experiences in Olympia, Washington, I helped to make jewelry and ran a jewelry booth by myself at the Olympia Farmers Market. This entailed setting up and taking down the booth, handling money, directing sales, and customer service. I was the only person working the booth and was in charge of every aspect of its operation. The woman I worked for left a review on my profile :)

I am currently looking to travel to Spain in order to expand my cultural awareness. I also want to take this opportunity to improve my Spanish and learn about the Spanish culture!

In terms of work experience, I have worked on a landscape crew for the past two summers as well as in shipping, handling, and blog writing. Landscaping is a demanding job that requires you to get your hands dirty, so I am used to performing hard outdoor tasks. It has also made me comfortable around power tools. I have learned a lot about plant identification, soil properties, and plant care (i.e. pruning, fertilizing, signs of stress, etc.) over the past two years.

I was also part of a peer tutoring club throughout high school where I helped teach students in grades 7-12. I have experience babysitting children from the ages of 5-11. I am confident I could combine these two skills and tutor younger children. I was also the vice president of my school's FFA Chapter, so I have customer service, public speaking, and communication skills.

In terms of household skills, I can cook for any diet, clean, and do basic sewing. I have no problem working in busy places or under stress.
