We are a Seattleite (Caitlin) and a Michigander (Maeve). After the pandemic stranded us in the United States, we're excited to explore the world again. We'll be traveling to Europe this summer to attend a few seminars for Caitlin's graduate program in psychoanalytic theory. We did a few workaways on our way back home from teaching English in Taiwan prior to the pandemic. We loved the opportunities to learn new skills, engage deeply in the local culture, and make lasting connections. We're looking forward to the opportunity to do the same in the coming months as we meet fellow travelers, learn about new places & their flora and fauna, and encounter novel ways of life.
Caitlin: I am an experimental artist and dancer with a passion for philosophy and for exploring the ways these three disciplines intersect. I speak Spanish, French, and English (& 小一点中文) and am always looking to immerse myself in more dialects, grammars, and etymologies. From childhood, I've loved horses and spending contemplative time in nature with them. As my life's journey unfolds, I am eager to learn and expand a repertoire of skills with friendly and knowledgeable world citizens.
Maeve: I am a geographer by training and have been working in emergency preparedness and response for the last four years. I'm motivated to learn about the world through an understanding of how people shape and are shaped by the places they inhabit. I speak ok-ish Mandarin and will happily talk to you about Chinese internal migration, urbanization strategies, fengshui forests, emergency preparedness, and anything that gets you excited. I love cold water swimming, swing dance, cycling, kayaking, ecology, plants, and getting dirt under my fingernails.Interests
