Hello!

My name is Ally, I am originally from a little town called Healesville, situated among the breezy greens of Victoria's central highlands. I grew up in a food-oriented family, raised by two cooks who make biscuits for a living. When I’m not busy helping them cook, I like to write, read, play the piano, and stroll through nature.

I completed my Undergraduate in 2021, majoring in Literature and Theatre Studies and Anthropology. In 2022, I completed my Honours in Anthropology, in which I studied how Melbourne's waste management system interacts with animals such as seagulls, rats, and snakes.
Through my travels this year, I have continued to look at the ways humans and infrastructure come together with non-humans to collaborate productively. I hope to continue to feed this curiosity at workaways involving diverse peoples, cultures, and critters!

Outside of my studies, I have worked as an intern at a research firm in Melbourne, as a a kitchen-hand, a salesperson in a local vintage shop, a packer in my parent's biscuit factory, and babysitting for local families. Additionally, I play the piano, enjoy creative writing, and have my scooba diving license.

Ally stayed with us for three weeks. She is very bubbly and inquisitive. She’s a quick learner and was very capable at all the tasks she did. She was very close with the other volunteers and was always warm and caring. She takes away many new skills. Thanks Ally!

Nicole and I had the most wonderful experience at this place! After having to cut our trip short we were quite sad to say goodbye, and we miss the place dearly. Amanda and her team make absolutely magical company, we couldn't recommend this workaway any higher, and hope to return at some point in the future!
