Description
Hey everyone!
My name is Viki, I'm 24 years old and I am currently looking for volunteering opportunities in Spain. Originally, I am from Austria and I study translation and cultural and social anthropology at the University of Vienna. Traveling, being around people and discovering new places are passions of mine and I absolutely love the way the exchange via workaway works: being able to do various things and getting to know so many different people and places - it’s just amazing! Since I have spent the last couple of months doing an internship in Brussels and finishing university in Vienna, I would love to find a cool workaway place in Spain in order to spend the summer months doing some work and travel in the sun!
I have already done quite some travelling on my own when I worked as an au pair in France for a year and a half after graduating from high school. Besides learning French, I gained a lot of experience in childcare. I spent the summer of 2019 backpacking in Spain and Croatia and did some work exchange in different hostels there. During my studies in Vienna, Austria, I participated in a university exchange program and got to live in Montreal, Canada, for a year. During that time, I also worked as a receptionist and bartender in a hostel, so I'm also quite familiar with working in the hospitality industry.
I'd describe myself as an enthusiastic, open-minded and outgoing person, always willing to get out of my comfort zone and learn or try out new things. As I was taking care of two primary school kids during my stay as an au pair, I have, however, also learned to be very trustworthy and reliable, taking responsibility for myself as well as for others. Organizing and preparing my move to Canada for my university exchange has definitely taught me a lot in terms of adaptability, flexibility and organization as well! Other than that, I'm really passionate about music and dancing, I love the outdoors and I will always be excited to broaden my horizon by trying out new things.Interests

As a translation student, I am fluent in German, English and French and I really want to work on my intermediate-level Spanish during this trip! I have also already gathered a lot of experience in teaching and tutoring those languages. Thanks to having been a babysitter and an au pair previously, I have lots and lots of experience in childcare - whether it may be everyday things like daily routines (preparing meals, doing homework, bringing them to bed) or special stuff like planning trips, activities, workshops or birthday parties: I just love being around kids!
Furthermore, I also have plenty of experience in hospitality: during my exchange in Montreal, I was working as a receptionist and bartender in a hostel and before that, still in Vienna, I was working at the front desk of an advertising company. When I volunteered in different hostels across Europe while travelling, I filled a couple of different positions from bartending, animating pub crawls, doing guided tours to taking care of public areas and house-keeping.
Other than that, I also have waitressed at a few festivals and I once volunteered for a project that renovated a kindergarten, and even though those are clearly no professional experiences whatsoever, I still enjoyed trying out new things and learning a lot in the process. Whatever the task may be, I'm always open to learning new skills!Age
