Hi, my name is T.J.!

I am currently committed to a host in southern Spain for the month of February and maybe longer .
I plan on doing Workaway for a while and hope to make it to the Canary Islands.

I’m a 37 year old with a passion for adventure, creativity, and making meaningful connections. For most of my adult life, I’ve been a nomad, traveling the world and working in diverse roles: from fishing boats in Alaska, cattle station in Australia to dairy farms and fruit & vegetable farms. I’ve provided food for millions of people through various industries, including Alaskan Salmon Fisheries, which emphasize sustainable fishing and protecting future salmon populations. I’m proud that my work has touched so many lives while prioritizing environmental care.

Photography is one of my greatest passions. It’s my way of capturing the world’s wonders: whether it’s a volcano’s fiery eruption, wildlife in motion, or the raw beauty of a remote landscape. I still dream of becoming a National Geographic photographer and love exploring natural beauty wherever I go. Creativity fuels me, and I enjoy combining it with storytelling to connect with others. While I’ve finished the coding, selecting the photographs to showcase has proven to be much harder than learning to code! 😂

Along the way, I’ve collected loads of stories from my life on the road, from the heartwarming to the downright crazy, and I love sharing them over a good conversation. 😊 I also enjoy writing my stories and one day hope to publish a travelogue: a collection of short stories from my life and adventures.

Right now, I’m in a transitional period, focusing on personal growth and reconnecting with the person I used to be: the one who thrived on adventure and fell in love with the world’s beauty. Life’s challenges have taught me resilience and the importance of living with intention and gratitude.

I’m a lifelong learner who loves taking on new challenges, whether it’s teaching myself coding, exploring creative outlets, or mastering hands-on skills like natural horsemanship, construction, or building anything. I take great pride in my work, approaching every task with dedication, care, and a commitment to delivering quality results. Horses are another passion of mine. I’ve trained in natural horsemanship, inspired by Monty Roberts, and also have experience with traditional horsemanship from my time as a cowboy. If your Workaway involves horses, that would be a huge bonus for me: though it’s not a requirement.

Traveling has also given me the gift of connecting with people from all walks of life, learning about their cultures, and sharing experiences that have shaped who I am today. I enjoy teaching and sharing knowledge, helping others learn new skills, and exchanging creative ideas.

I’m easygoing, reliable, and happy to pitch in wherever needed, whether it’s farm work, odd jobs, or daily chores. I’m looking for kind and well-rounded hosts who value mutual respect and shared experiences. Let’s create new stories, work together, and inspire one another along the way.

Farm Work: Experienced in cattle station and dairy farm operations, including animal care, milking, feeding, fencing, and general farm maintenance. I’m comfortable working with livestock and enjoy the outdoors.

Fishing & Manual Labor: Spent time on commercial fishing boats as a deckhand and deck boss, managing physically demanding tasks in challenging conditions.

Animal Care: Skilled at working with animals/livestock, especially love horses, including riding, grooming, and general care.

Photography: A passionate photographer with a keen eye for capturing moments and landscapes. Happy to help with photo projects or document your experiences.

Hard Work & Adaptability: I’m not afraid of long days or getting my hands dirty. I take pride in adapting to new challenges and learning quickly.
