Me llamo Sophia, tengo 32 años y trabajo como artista de las artes plástica y performance (teatro de objetos/materiales,
artes de la calle y circo, trabajo de moción - danza contemporánea - relajación). Trabajo mucho con reciclaje y los materiales naturales y cotidianos y me gustaría mucho realizar un proyecto artístico y social con tigo.

También me gusta la jardinería y trabajar en la naturalezza por realizar un vivo afuera. En Alemania vivo en un grupo de siete personas y un gato en las caravanas. Tenemos un grande jardín con verduras y frutas que me haces muy felíz :)

Viajo con mi novio Akim por 2-3 meses (Febrero - Abril 2024) en Colombia. Buscamos projetos sociales, artísticos y colectivos dónde podemos apoyar. Akim es un asistente social con experiencias con jóvenes, teatro, juegos malabares y highlining & slacklining. Vivimos en Bremen (norte de Alemania).

English:

My name is Sophia and I am a performing artist based in Bremen (Germany). What I love about my work is the social and creative interaction and collaboration with different kind of people preferably in public spaces.

I am interested in circus/theatre/performance and I practise aerial acrobatics, hoola hoop and juggling.

Before studying cultural science, arts and theater I volunteered in a youth circus school, teaching children and young adults. I like to work with people and I am very interested in cultural exchange and learning about different ways of living.
I like a lot to use the platform workaway for travelling and until now I always had a great time staying and helping in families and projects. With workaway I learnt a lot by volunteering in a family, a hostel or a sustainable farm and I always met wonderful people. Thanks a lot!

Another important topic for me is ecological sensitivity and the idea of sustainable living. I have experiences in gardening, growing vegetables considering aspects of permaculture and animal care.
I enjoy both, the vibrant life in a city and the calmness of nature that connects me again to what is really important.

Since almost ten years I am living in different community projects with up to twenty people. To share and support each other is very important to me and I could not imagine to live alone.

Salam aleikum!
I enjoyed my time in the home with abdo and Lucie, another workaway volunteer. It's a beautiful project with a lot of opportunities to do something. We built walls for the future kitchen of this future guesthouse and I liked to work with bricks and sand and water. I hope the wall will stay strong even if it's not too straight :D I… read more liked abdos idea of a little museum to exhibit old and new materials that Berber and Tuareg people use!
I think that it's kind of a missuse of the original idea of workaway that he is charging for food cost. And I am sure that it's not 50 dirham that he is spending for food daily but you can see it as a support for his project. Definetly the food is good and especially for me as a vegetarian there was a lot of good tagine! Also I learnt to cook different styles of tagines.
I enjoyed the meals together with his family even if we could not really speak to eachother. They are very nice people and welcome you warmly as a part of the family.
Especially his father and the sweet cat will stay as very nice memory in my mind.
Communication have been difficult with abdo as we don't share any other language than English and his English is not too good yet. So we had some missunderstanding and not too many chances for conversations about politics, culture and local interests which would have been very interesting for me.
I had my own room what felt like a big luxury for me.
It is difficult to move alone in tagounite as a woman, so I would recommend you to check if their will be more workawayers while your stay or even to connect with other volunteers in tagounite as there are a lot more projects there.
You will have the chance to go to the Sahara with friends of abdo who are organizing excursions, but it will still be expensive.
One last thing, if you need internet. There is no wifi in the house but some cafés in town are providing it. There was no chance to get access to a computer in the internet cafés, so better bring your own device if you need it.
Abdo cares a lot for your comfort and tries to fulfill all your wishes.
Sometimes this can be a bit difficult but it's always meant positively. I can recommend this host for everyone who would like to stay with a local family and work with natural material :)
I hope our masterpiece the teapot mosaic is still in good conditions!
