  • Description

Hello, my name is Jocelyn Lesage. I am originally from Manitoba, and I grew up and a ethically raised sheep farm. I have experience on organic farming, I’ve also worked as a carpenter and have take on smaller odd jobs and worked as a skilled helper. I appreciate good company and love learning new cultures. I would consider myself social however introverted and I like to keep busy.

I enjoy traveling as it opens up doors to learn, see beautiful places, have new experiences and make friends from around the world. For the past four years I’ve been tree planting in BC during the spring and spending the winters in mountain towns and traveling to Central America. During all these joyful experiences I’ve volunteered through Workaway and Facebook groups. My most recent volunteering positions has been in Nicaragua, winter of 2021. My partner and I (whom will be in France visiting family this winter) helped build the foundation of a rammed earth house for a future education center. We also helped a couple started a eco log called Palapa Hostel, building furniture and a self standing kitchen for volunteers.

This winter I’m planning on spending 2 months in a mountain town, enjoying all the great things winter has to offer. I’m very open to living arrangements however, Ideally I’m looking for a place for my winterized truck camper in exchange for work and or payment. I’d love to be part of a community and exchange energy with kind folks. And I’m hoping to put some time in doing some slackcountry.

  • More details about your skills

I was born and raised on an ethical hobby farm. Tending to a two acre garden for self consumption and raising all sorts of animals, gave me lots of hands on experience in small scale farming.

Recent projects I’ve done has been building a board and batten cabin in Manitoba using mostly recycled material, as you can see in the pictures on my profile. The cabin is built on my parents property to give space for more family to visit. I’ve also gutted and renovated a campervan (picture #15) that I've recently sold and bought a tuck and truck camper with the earnings.

I do various hobbies, such as snow carving, knife making, leather work and more. My brother and I typically do 2 snow carvings for festivals anywhere around Canada. Most recently we carved two beavers for SnowDays in Banff (picture #14).
