  • Description

Hi folks !!! Where do i start ? I am a happy-go-lucky sunshine with a bit of an adventurous and wild side thrown in, sometimes a contemplative philosopher but always a positive and look on the bright side sort of person.
Since turning the dreaded big " 50 " i have been on a journey of self discovery, which has not been without its ups and downs, and been very interesting and enlightening i have to say.
During this time i have travelled and stayed varying lengths of stay in places like... Isle of Bute (Scotland) , Malta, Isle of Sark ( where i drove a horse and carriage for the summer season with not one car in sight for 7 months, bliss ) and the last 18 months on the Isle of wight. It appears i am unconsciously and naturally drawn to islands and a big pull to gravitate to the ocean. I have also discovered how much i love to travel, meeting new people, countries and cultures having never really been anywhere the previous 50 yrs, (time filled with being a Mum and a Wife) the travelling bug has really bitten !!
I have worked as a carer for many years, working with people with Learning disabilities, Physically disabled, Elderly and Mental health. Currently in live-in care. This has been a full and rewarding career path from which i believe i have gained many life skills.
I am a very chilled out person but hard working and have a good sense of humour and fun. Am trustworthy and reliable. Able to happily work alone or as part of a team.
I have consistently had some form of involvement around horses throughout my life one way or another, first learning to ride at the age of 6 yrs old, later working at a local riding for the disabled centre, attended Equine college as a "mature" student for 2 years obtaining my British horse society qualifications stages 1 and 2 in both riding and care, have owned 2 horses of my own, teaching many local friends and their children how to ride and about horse care.
I drove a carriage around Sark as a guide for tourists. I also hold Therapeutic riding instructor certificate , RDA Autism Awareness certificate and Occupational therapy certificate. More recently i spent 2 months at a workaway in Cyprus caring for 2 rescues, one being a 6 year old ex-racehorse and am now currently working at a horse sanctuary with 15 horses. I would really like to combine my skills, qualifications and experience into working with horses and Therapy somehow, or rehabilitation and training with using only a very holistic and natural approach and method.
I love the outdoors and nature and being in nature. I realise i am more than content to live a simple basic life and am not phased one bit at the thought of "roughing" it a bit. I lived in a fairly small caravan whilst on the Isle of Bute through a whole winter, just me and my dog who i had at the time, a very big 18 month old German x Alaskan Malamute, who nearly filled the floor space completely and shook it like it was in a full scale hurricane when he got excited.
I love all animals and love being around them (apart from snakes !!!). I spent some time as a volunteer at a local wildlife rescue centre in Lincolnshire, have trained several dogs and of course horses.
Although I did a couple of years bhs studies I now only use a more natural way of working with horses , in fact all animals, learning to speak their language not expecting them to learn ours.
My 30 yr old daughter has a resume, she has been around horses through me all her life and has the same passion. He is a 3 yr old and I am helping her to bring him on , we are both eager to learn more to do the best by him.
In my spare time i love to socialise, attend the local karaoke nights and open mic nights ( do a bit of singing ) or just spend a night in with friends, equally i am happy to spend time with myself , my thoughts and own entertainment.
I could not have discovered Workaway at a better time in my life, ( firm believer in things happen just when they should and for a reason ) and am literally so excited to be on my way on this new adventure. Life is for living and full of discoveries !!
    Thank you for reading :-)
Wishing all Workawayer's great connections, happiness and well being on they're travels.
Maybe our paths will cross one day . xx
