  • Description

    Hi, I’m Kerry.

    MY PERSONALITY...
I’m an adventurous ‘outdoorsy’ person, very active and enjoy anything that gets the heart pumping. I get on well with everyone, a true team player, I love meeting new people and learning about different cultures, experiencing different ways of living but equally enjoy (and sometimes need) time alone. I’m a very practical person with an inner geek.

    PASSIONS...
    - Animals (I spend a lot of time out and about with my dog and enjoy training her, and my daughters horse/projects).
    - Creating something or improving somethings functionality or aesthetic appearance (it could be creating origami napkins, building a table, deep cleaning, growing and nurturing plants from seeds, reorganising an office layout, refurbishing an item, fixing a faulty electrical appliance orworking on a property development project).
    - Children, of all ages and stages of their lives.
    - Helping people/things/situations (whether another person/group of people in need of support or needing help to do something, an injured animal or a challenging situation)

    HOBBIES AND INTERESTS....
    - Art (I’m not at all an artist but enjoy playing with a paintbrush/pencil/mixed media. Love visiting art galleries and exploring the thoughts of the artist behind the art).
    - Exploring the great outdoors, campfires, surfing, swimming in rivers, rock climbing etc.
    - History, cultures, religions and beliefs.
    - Ruins and derelict buildings.
    - Psychology and hearing people’s stories, attempting to understand how and why we work the way we do.

    WORK EXPERIENCE...

Currently working in telecoms splicing fibres and cabling (3 years now).
I’ve spent many years in hospitality management (most recently opening then running a boutique hotel and wedding venue) and property development and project management. I’ve worked on small private extension projects through to a £2 million redevelopment of a grade II listed building that had been derelict for 20 years.
Being a hands on person and team player, you’ll always find me taking part of any activity or task I find myself surrounded by.

    SKILLS...
    - Using computers including advanced MS Office skills.
    - People management, leadership and motivation of myself and others. Equally good at following a leader, doing as I’m told and being left alone to complete what’s been asked of me. You can be sure the outcome of any responsibility I take on will be completed to the highest standard, and I’m not afraid to ask for help if I feel I need more guidance.
    - Highest levels of attention to detail, care and pride in my work.
    - Having a genuine care and natural warmth for all things living, Im great at making people feel welcome, relaxed and a part of the family.

AT SOME POINT I’D LOVE TO...
    - Ski/snow board
    - Help where it’s needed most (could be war torn, poverty ripe or natural disaster stricken)
    - Visit every country in the world
    - Learn to play the guitar (or other instrument)
    - Learn at least 2 new languages

    WHY WORKAWAY?...
The last 18 years has revolved around bringing up my daughter. Now she’s 21, I find myself having more time and freedom to do the things I’ve always wanted to do.
I’ve always had a travel bug, but have up until now only done the family friendly holiday along the beaten path. I’d like to step off that path, explore the ‘real’ experiences, live different lives, do something meaningful. I feel workaway can tick all those boxes.

Thanks for visiting my profile, hopefully I’ll get to meet some new faces soon for fun, laughter, hard work and new adventures.

Feel free to get in touch if you have any questions!
