  • Description

We are a couple from the UK who met 7 years ago working in a remote hostel/resort in the Daintree Rainforest. We love being in nature and would love to help with conservation and sustainable living projects.

Campbell holds a RHS level 3 in Horticulture and is a propagation manager in the UK for a nursery specialising in tropical and mediterranean plants. He also has gardening experience and has basic woodworking skills.
Kirstie has basic gardening skills and is a hard worker. She has a background in working with children and young people, teaches music and songwriting to adults and has a big interest in holistic health and medicinal plants.

Our last project was in an offgrid agroforestry/syntropic community in Lorinna, Tasmania helping with gardening, building, cooking and cleaning.
    Our past workaway projects include
Planting, weeding, watering, mulching and harvesting on a small organic agroforestry fruit farm for 5months in Maui, Hawaii.
Clearing land, weeding, mulching, planting, watering and fixing a chicken coup in the Azores, Portugal for a month. As well as helping around the old property and cleaning the holiday cottage for guests.
In Norfolk we helped to prepare a property's grounds for winter by weeding, mulching and raking leaves.
In Mexico we helped out at hostels with guests and maintenance.

Whilst travelling in a Australia we worked at a rainforest hostel/retreat working in housekeeping, bar, kitchen and maintenance.
Kirstie volunteered in a cat rescue for 3 months in Brisbane and helped with cleaning and cat care.
She also lived and worked at a hostel in Tasmania for 3 months in housekeeping.

We like to make a positive difference everywhere we go and are not scared of hard work and are hoping to learn more skills for the future when we have our own land and eco project. At home we recycle and reduce our footprint as much as possible. We are both conscious of the environment with our diets which is mainly plant based although Cam will eat anything. We rarely drink and do not smoke and are drug free.
We like to explore where we live and immerse ourselves in the culture and like to feel like we are living as locals when we travel.
Animals put big smiles on our faces and we have experience in pet sitting.

    A bit more about us...
    Kirstie
I am friendly and hard working, passionate about food and like to cook. I love cycling, walking and like to keep fit. I am looking forward to seeing wildlife in its natural habitat and meeting people of different backgrounds. I am a musician and write my own songs. I am hoping to meet other creative people to work with. I am hoping to document my travels and tell stories through video and music. I am interested in the Art history, culture and spirituality of the places I visit. I am contemplative and like to have deep conversations.
    Campbell
I am passionate about nature and wildlife. I travelled around Australia (where I met Kirstie) and South East Asia where I spent most of my time in Borneo. I decided to buy a bicycle and ended up cycling 3000km around Malaysian Borneo and Sumatra. I greatly enjoy bikepacking but mountain biking is my preferred hobby. I am looking forward to really experiencing the area, and getting to know people, the environment and see the wildlife, flora and fauna. I am passionate about conservation and want to make a difference using the skills I have and also to learn more.
