  • Description

Hi everyone, my name is Aisling.

I was raised in an Irish-German household, my dad being German and my mum is originally from Ireland.

I left Highschool in 2018 and then spent a year traveling before I started Uni in autumn, 2019. During that period, I spent most of my time in Ireland, Spain, Portugal and GB and was able to experience some truly amazing workaways. I had the pleasure of trying all kinds of different work, ranging from hostel work to remote farm stays, caring for horses and other animals, as well as looking after kids and hospitality work.

In October 2019, I started a binational bachelor's degree in political science and sociology. I started off following courses in Münster, Germany, and completed my degree in the Netherlands in August 2022. As part of my studies, I also spent an Erasmus semester in Thessaloniki, Greece, and used that opportunity to spend a month doing a Workaway in a truly inspiring eco-cultural project south of Athens.

Over the course of my past workaway experiences, I have come to really love this platform and I am constantly searching for new places where I can learn and meet people. I dearly cherish all the memories I was able to make so far and I am excited to be planning my next Workaway trips this year.

After finishing my degree, I was excited to return to the freedom of traveling and to gain more practical, hands-on experience. I moved to Amman, Jordan last September to follow a one-year volunteering program in a local NGO. It has been amazing to discover different parts of Jordan and I am looking forward to exploring more areas in the region.

I am very open to many different areas of work. I particularly enjoy being outdoors and working with all sorts of different animals, although I have a special passion for horses as I have been riding and looking after them for several years. I also enjoy yoga and hiking and like trying out any other form of physical exercise. Besides loving to spend time outdoors, I am also culturally and musically interested. I enjoy getting to know the local history of the places I visit and play the harp as well as sing. Dancing has also become an important part of my free time activities. Generally, I also make an effort to respect nature and live sustainably to the extent possible. I am currently following a vegetarian/vegan diet. I like to cook and experiment with new recipes and dishes, so I am very flexible and have no problem to prepare meals.

I love being around other people -young and old-, am very open-minded and communicative. My interests are broad and I am enthusiastic about learning any new skills.

  • More details about your skills

As I was born and raised in Germany, German is my main language but with my Mum being Irish, I have absolutely no problem communicating in English and I also learned some French at school.
I really enjoy trying out new things. Therefore, creativity as well as flexibility is extremely important to me.
Creativity has a very broad meaning for me. I pretty much like to do anything with my hands, arts and crafts as much as writing and organising. I am also interested in photography and would like to enhance my skills.
I am a hands-on and motivated worker. No matter if that is in a busy hotel/hostel/ B&B, a family or around a farm, I am looking forward to developing and improving as many skills as possible. To my mind, it is also vital to be reliable and communicative as these factors can make any collaboration work.
As already mentioned, I dance, play the harp, sing as well as care for and ride horses. I also used to supervise children at my school in the afternoon, having lunch with them and helping them with their homework. Thus, I enjoy and am well used to spending time with children.
