The NGO is a small local organisation in the Kyrgyz capital Bishkek supporting children and young people in difficult life situations such as poverty, migration, broken up families, dropouts from school and others. When we started to work 15 years ago we first ran a shelter for homeless children. Over the years our work has changed and we now support the majority of our 350+ beneficiaries in the places where they live. We run 5 meeting places in Bishkek and the surrounding suburbs for this purpose. We help with schoolwork, personal budget planning, vocational training, life skill training, medical and psychological support, legal advice and many other things.

Travellers will have a chance to learn about the struggles faced by underprivileged members of the community in Bishkek. Here travellers can experience a different perspective on society and the challenges people may face. We offer experiences in ways that help to overcome hardship. Our work takes place in different areas in and around Bishkek.
If you have a special talent or skill, we welcome your creativity and ideas. Maybe you are a musician or an artist, and can inspire the children and share your passion with them. Maybe you can help the children with learning a language or play sports with them. Aside from this, ordinary day to day tasks would include gardening, helping with food preparation, building and field work, or generally assisting the social workers with their tasks.
We have a separate guest room for two people in a house 5 min. walking from our organisation. In the house the travellers share a bathroom with the couple living there. Meals are provided in the children's center with the staff.
It is very easy to visit the city in your free time. We are a 15 min bus ride from the center of Bishkek and there are frequent bus connections. You can also walk to the center in 30 mins, and taxis here are very good value for money.
The spoken languages in our centers are Kyrgyz and Russian. However, if you do not speak these languages it is not a problem at all. Some members of staff speak some English and we will definitely be able to communicate and find fulfilling and interesting tasks for you to do.
