  • Description

My Japanese wife and I are a part of a unique and fun community of Japanese and ex-pats in the beautiful Oceanside of Isumi. We have completed the major reform projects of a house right in the heart of the Ohara fishing port and very near to beautiful Ohara Beach. We are looking for a skilled painter that also has some carpentry skills. Primarily for small but intricate painting jobs and a couple of places that need a carpenter`s touch. This area is very popular for outdoor enthusiasts, artists, photographers, seafood lovers, fishers, cultural students of Japan and especially surfers.

You will be staying and working at our new Port House. It`s a funky spot that is almost done. We welcome you to help us finish some small elements and have a good time here.

We are a part of an active Sister Cities program and our friends are very well known and active on a bnb site. A neighbour hosts many Work Away people and you certainly can connect to them. There will be many chances to meet people from the local Japanese community, and guests of our friends from around the world. We can also teach you some Japanese..or not. We also are tight with several artists and many friends in the community. You will meet a lot of interesting people.

  • Help

This project is near completion. As I mentioned above, painting some closets and doors, fixing a couple of walls in the closets, light gardening, fine painting of sliding doors, ... maybe a couple of shelves put up...

You will stay in the Port House itself. It is up and running and freshly reformed. No TV or internet yet... this can be remedied if needed.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Photographers, artists, video production, surfing...we are connected to the art community and also people in television as well. We welcome all, and especially think creatives may find some joy here.

The work in the beginning will be about what to do with things. You won’t be worked too hard, and will be welcomed in to the heart of an active fishing port. It should be an interesting project and we are going by trial and error.

My Japanese wife and I are a unique couple. Happily Married for 20 years and well known in the Ohara and Isumi area. She is an accountant and a practioner of health and human spirit issues. She is well respected, extremely talented and warm hearted. She keeps it all going strong.

I am teacher, and considered by some to be quite the self delusional spiritual poet. My wife’s friends call me an alien. Decide for yourself while we all discuss the day on the terrace.
